  1. Hurrah! Skecr8r (might) be back. Or just keeping us informed on all things Hedi Slimane, as he's been known to do.

    Welcome back.

P.S.: I wonder if it's time for another Skecr8r fixes your look thread. Of course, everyone would probably refute everything you had to say on the grounds that you might actually know what you're talking about.

  2. If you check ebay they also have those dIoR HoMME STUSSY CHROME HEARTS STYLE SILVER CHAIN PURE SILVER type pieces that are typically under $100. There have been discussions about it before.

Some people contend that quality is the same and that silver is cheap anyway, others would probably tell you to buy from Crazy Pig Designs or whatever. Either way, ebay is the place for cheap shit.

  3. How much was that H&M ring?

I'd love to pay someone to ship one of those if it wouldn't hurt my pocket too much, I've been spending too much money on vintage shoes; just grabbed a pair of no-name wingtip Salvatore Ferragamo's and Park Avenue Allen Edmonds for about $20. Well, those weren't too bad, but some of the others...

    It adds up.

  4. I had tons of trouble putting on my clothes right, and then I realized: If I can't post it online, what's the point of even putting on clothes!?

Not that I post much anyway, but I missed lurking. I tried SF once. Like the sartorialist look, but it's not like there's a whole bunch of new developments in the market for it, so a forum isn't too helpful unless that's actually how you dress. Better to look at the The Sartorialist.

    Guy's got some decent taste.

  5. That's exactly what I was thinking, England. The only reason I didn't do it originally was just that: how to get the shipping to work, and setting up a payment system.

The payment system could either be a monthly fee to avoid middle-man prices, but then I'd have to take on a bunch of brands that probably shouldn't be there just to pay the bills.

Or, taking a percentage off of sales through the store, it would probably have to be like a monthly-paycheck type thing. How to make sure that it's set up to be transparent to sellers would be important so that there's no way that I could cheat the system, basically.

Second off, the shipping is definitely hard. Having to send all merchandise to me and then to customer would be absurd, especially considering that some people are say, in Europe. Europe -> San Diego and then possible back to Europe? Iffy.

I could relay addressed of buyers to sellers, but then you have to deal with people flaking off, losing merchandise for some reason, etc... not to mention that if someone buys items from two different people, they'd arrive at different times and have different shipping costs.

It might be possible to run it like eBay and have only one item at a time and just do it that way (i.e. pays one buyer, gets items in return) and you could even set up an eBay like distribution system.

Anyway, a lot of issues. I'll keep playing around with the idea, and by tomorrow I should have a little more of the webpage to show.

Oh, and P.S., neither Threadless or Spreadshirt are really all that similiar, except that they stock clothes. And most of them aren't very good, to boot.

  6. I found a few notes on an old idea of mine, and Kyl working on his shirt thing sort of inspired me to take another look at it. It was inspired by a friend of mine telling me about a store where they rented out tables in the shop to local designers/artists whatever.

It seemed like an awesome idea, since you see people setting up shops all about "helping out little artists" but usually they don't do shit about it and it just makes them look good. I figured, why not set up a website that did something similiar?

Let artists and people without a large advertising budget or much budget at all rent slots on an online shop, or trade goods or something. That way, they can compete with larger shops / brands. Or something.

Anyway, I'm thinking about trying to work on it again, if anyone can think of any flaws or interesting ideas, let me know.

    P.S.:

I figured I'd show a brief idea for the logo, this is not the final design (My laptop is busted so I can't scan in my own crest design yet, so I can't use this)

So far, I'm thinking about the name VIVA.

  7. Thanks for the props on my loook, but I'm not too into "graphic" tees myself. I used to silkscreen my own shirts awhile ago, but I haven't really come up with anything recently to bother printing.

I agree with Thomas Highstreet on some points, but not quite as harsh, perhaps.

Look, I'm going to say one thing right now: if you didn't take these photos and didn't ask for the rights to use them from the photographer or publisher or whatever, then you cannot make money with them by selling t-shirts, it's actually against the law.

For instance, one of the shirts still has the "mugshots.org" tag on it.

    No can do, I'm afraid.

Secondly, The surpreme shirts check out, since technically it's parody, but since I don't own any supreme personally I wouldn't buy one parodying it. My advice for an up-and-coming shirt brand would be to avoid parodies in the first place, and stick to your own designs.

And finally, the sweatshirt. I can't find it, but I did find the shirt you were talking about. You've got a cool imitation, but again, if you didn't make the font and just downloaded it from site, then using it on shirt = *bam* illegal.

But if you're not considered about the legality or anything, feel free to print something.

Anyway, looks like you're on the right track, but try drawing something! You'll be surprised at what you come up with.

    Maybe.

  8. I still see a nice all-over print whatever every now and then, but generally only when it's pretty damn subtle. Pretty damn subtle, to be specific. Otherwise, it's pretty damn obnoxious.

And I'm still of the opinion that $400 is a lot for a sweatshirt when there are still so many awesome designs out there for so much less.

Just my two cents, I know brand names mean a lot so for some price is validated.

  9. I blew out one my Vans (I'm a "Vans Head / Slip-on" 'Head' as it were), but my 3 favorite shoes right now are my:

    - Vans Slip-ons with a leather weave on top. Not sure of name.

    - Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo's, or at least well-used.

    - New pair of Vans Canvas Slip-ons

And the only shoe I really want at the moment is a pair of Z-Boy black leather slip-ons. I've got no information on this brand, if anyone knows anything about them, I'd love to hear. They only had one pair, but it looked interesting.

  10. I still can't tell if this is a joke or not, but it appears that you're simple

A: Stealing copyrighted photos / album covers and putting them on shirts, or

B: Copying already in-print designs. That thornhill shirt looks just like that one sweatshirt. Then again, perhaps I'm missing the joke.

    Hopefully.

  11. I happen to be one of the 16-year-olds who probably would be rocking Bape if I didn't hate the vast majority of it so much. In fact, I'm the only person I know who's ever heard of Bape, and I don't even like it, so apparently they missed the mark on my marketing demographic.

Personally, although I'm not sure how interested I am in wearing what is essentially a very specific "in-joke/parody" shirt, much less a "word shirt" at all, I found the design kind of amusing. More so than the other Nigo-attack, at least.

    It's all pretty shitty, ultimately.
