If they could pop under $200 I bet the number of people in the contest would double. It really seems like Samurai would want to do it. For $15 less, they would probably sell like ten more jeans. More profit is good right?

I think they would look great if you could finish the edges, but until then.... not my thing.

might check with beatle/samurai before you do anything like that, they might not want the integrity of their denim/fit tampered with. I wouldn't mind but if they are posting pics on their website of the jeans, people might begin to wonder why the fit is so different and so on...

I fully plan on making liberal use of my sewing machine. I'm going to slim them up a lot through the thigh and give them a really slight bootcut like half way through my calf.

vintage sewing machines are the business. my sister is a fashion designer and she has quite a collection of old machines. they dont build them like they used to for sure.

I've been thinking about Parsons... I've been designing menswear for a couple years and I'm pretty good with a sewing machine, but there is just SO MUCH that I don't know its more than slightly staggering. I would love to really take a chance and try my hand, but I'm just not sure I have the balls to do it. Somehow my economics degree seems more secure.
