  1. Just go to 45rpm (uptown or downtown). Its 10 bucks for a chainstich. I think AG in Soho will also chainstich, although they didn't know what a chainstich was when I asked.

If your E. Sewn are distressed bring them to "An Earnest Cut and Sewn" and they will reattach the original hem after they alter it.

  2. Steven Alan sample sale is 87 Franklin St. They have some great deals like the Loomstates I mentioned for 45 and 5EPs for 75.

ES sample sale is held around the corner from An Earnest Cut and Sewn in Meatpacking. If you go to their store they will tell you how to get there.

  3. My pick would be the Loomstates at Steven Alan for 135. The denim is light and they have a very slight bootcut (which isn't that great). Other then that, I would try E. Sewn right now for their sample sale. They had the Fultons etc, which is decent denim for $75.00. Then, mill through the jean heap at Atrium... you might find some Blue Bloods for under 150. Diesel has some dry subtle jeans for around 125 too. Levis is worth checking out too. I guess get what fits best, but I think its better to buy a well made pair ... rather then buy a pair of uniqlo or h&m and look for jeans again in 2 months.

I think I'm going to check out the S. Alan sample sale tomorrow and I'll also stop by Rogan. I haven't been to Rogan all season and if I see anything I'll post about it.

Does anyone know the price point on Number (N)ine jeans?

Number (Nine) price point is either 1125 or 1175. This season, they feature a jean (perhaps five pockets) that is one leg denim and one leg velvet.

  5. Re - Miz " i saw a guy walking by with 45 rpm jomons. he was peeping my cane 47s and i felt somewhat inadequate (in a good way)!"

Yeah, its always a little awkward turning your head and checking out back pockets etc. My friends always tease me about it, but its just for the love of denim.

Sidenote - Just got this Indigo Flower Coaster downtown.

i live in nyc and i'll tell you that selvage is still very rare. i would say the highest occurence is in soho. second highest occurence, believe it or not, is in the hood, where you are seeing a lot of (bootleg) evisu and red monkey.

Yeah Miz you're right on the money. I usually see selvage in Soho too. The hypebeasts milling around Bape (usually a 2 block radius) usually rock Evisu with 2 inch + cuffs. Ocassionaly, you'll see some stylish guys in soho with cuffs showing off selvage, although according to my Mom only farmers cuff their jeans (yes I know jeans are workwear, but I thought this quote was kind of funny). Sometimes I see redlines/greenlines on the rockers in the LES and E Village too.
  7. Just wanted to let people know that this week is E. Sewn Sample Sale.

    May 15—19

7:00AM—10:00PM—Earnest Sewn Sample Sale, Earnest Sewn Showroom, 71 Gansevoort St. btwn Greenwich Ave. and Washington St., 3rd Fl, NYC

Jeans are usally $75.00. This isn't really a huge saving since it's pretty easy to find their jeans at that price point in Outlet shops. Still, I picked up a pair of customs last year for $35.00 bucks in the sample damage bin since they didn't have riviets or buttons (they did have hidden back pocket ones). Then I paid another 20 bucks to get buttons and rivets that I speced.

  8. Sizing seems pretty normal.

I wear L in most polo shirts and a large fit perfect. I didn't buy the red & white polo even though it looked great because I didn't want to have a dry clean only polo.

I also tried the hoody on. I usually size up in hoodies, so I prefered the XL although the L fit fine. Odin Soho carries the line.

  9. DDC is carrying persimmon dyed jeans this season. They also had some persimmon shirts. Its a nice idea and this was the first time I've seen the dye in the US. At the same time, the jeans looked a bit on the orange side and one pair looked like it had been randomly splashed with indigo. I'm not positive on the price, but I'm sure they cost more then $300.

Still, they don't compare to the S-5000 KA. Those were a very special pair of jeans.

  10. I just got the 15th Types (aka the c-point 501s) a little while ago. The XX is really nice 14oz fabric before washing and they fit like the Badou-R Jomons. I was bring cheap and got some 33s instead of 34s which was a mistake (I think the 34s cost 2k yen more), but other then that very pleased with them. I'm not sure if I'll never wash them, sell them, or just have a tight pair (which is not what I wanted).

  11. I've have some Havainas and some Rainbows. Its too bad Rainbows are such a frat boy staple, since they're fantastic.

This season, I may pick up the 96 hours Infra sandals, but I don't have the cash right now.

hey roland, u sure you followed the care instructions?

Yeah, I haven't washed the jacket yet. So as long as it doesn't say "don't wear snowboarding", I'm ok. I used this as a layer, so maybe thats how I caused so much friction on the stitching.

Anyway, I'll post pics if I get home to the jacket anytime soon.

  13. Samurai says their slimmest fits are the jins, zeros (5000 & 3000) and the new SO500XX.

My SO110XJ fit true to size and their posted measurements after shrinkage are right on the money.

To get an answer, I would send them an email in basic japanese created thru a translator with a copy of English text. I did that with Denime and they were able to get back to me. If that doesn't work, try posting the question on their message board.

  14. I've used non-braded pure castile and Dr. Bronners Hemp Peppermint Soap.

Both work well although I'm not crazy about how the Bronners peppermint smells when I've got wet jeans. The jeans always smell a little like barn/hay when when they come out and peppermint added to that smell makes me ill.

I like the all natual soap approach, although when jeans are very soiled I use Woolite Black.

I also use Woolite with my one pair of jeans that I don't want to fade anymore. Keeping the fade could be a big problem for SF next year.

Lastly, I've been playing around with dry jeans and the Whirlpool Fabric Freshener. The machine does a fantastic job at removing oders, keeping the dry look, and slightly shrinking the jean after they have stretched. It works great on shirts too and once I get some spare time, I'll post a thread with pics.
