  1. Quote: where's Bape LA??

    people, people, people.....................icon_smile_dissapprove.gif

    It was a joke...........................

As far as the Subway goes, it will not get you anywhere, is expensive, and is a huge hassle. If you come to L.A. you absolutely need to rent a car.

Some good recommendations, and nice to see people helping, but honestly, if you are from NY, you can absolutely skip more than 3/4 of the recommendations above, the majority of them are mediocre skate/shoe shops, with the exception of UNDFTD and Barracuda, and Union (even though there is already one in NY). Fred Segal in Santa Monica is ok too, the shoe store Conveyor is inside it, its worth checking out, they are very nice guys. Greyone is good, but far away..........Just go to Melrose for shopping, Main St. in Venice has some good bars/restaurants and Holy Guacamole! which has fucking good tacos ........then go out on Sunset at night. If you need some addresses, I can help you out but I am going to look on the internet for them just like you are, but feel free to ask anyways..........I'm glad to help

    Barracuda - Melrose Ave.

UNDFTD, Union, Stussy - La Brea Ave.

UNDFTD SM - Main St., Venice

Fred Segal- near 3rd St. Promenade, Santa Monica

Most of the exact addresses are here:

  2. ^^ True; and besides, they don't do half sizes, and it is usually always better to go up; if your an 10.5, get an 11. Be careful though, because I own several pairs of FBT's and my Shakers are alot looser than my FBT 2's; I know that alot of the shoe is made by hand and sometimes they fit a tiny bit looser or tighter, so if you can barely squeeze into an 11, buying a size 11 Visvim may be a stretch. (fyi, 11 is their biggest size). I can only wear my FBT 2's for like 2 hours at a time, but my Shakers fit awesome............better to try some on first if you can...........

  3. Quote: If the guy is going something that anybody can do...big deal

True, I have no gripe with that, and if he is indeed doing what I think he is, then that is great, I just don't think anyone has come up with a valid argument to the contrary and I just wanted to put it out there and discuss.

About the diamonds: setting a stone is something you learn in an intro to jewelry class, its not like he is doing any paving or anything else of the sort. In fact, when I first took jewelry in university, we were setting stones by the second month. I am not denying that this guy has some jewelry experience, I mean, he has made other stuff besides shoes, but being able to set a stone is no evidence of talent. Either way, its sort of off subject........

  4. Quote: man, you are seriously ignorant aren't you?

you think there are air max's, and timberland mini models out there to mold

    Guess I must be:

And why is it that the only Jordan he makes besides the four and one is the 8? Maybe because those are the only three Jordans they make these toys of!

The only one I give him credit for making himself is the Timberlands, because the piece he made of them looks like shit........do you know why perhaps? Because there is no toy of them for him to copy........

  5. ^^ Yep

And anyone that wants to argue that "there is only one way to make an Air Max 1 and the toy would obviously look like the pendant" can't deny that things like the angle of plastic around the inside ankle part of the shoe being exactly the same on both is pretty strange; wouldn't you think that if Mr. Urist spent months supposedly "creating" his mini shoes that he would at least have made a rounded edge like a real shoe has?

  6. Quote: do they sell the ubiq's at the ubiq store in philly?

I always thought that UBIQ in Philadelphia and the Japanese footwear brand UBIQ were unrelated; anyone know?.........

As far as the strength of the backpack goes, when Visvim puts lighter fabrics on shirts pockets, flaps on the shoes, etc. they put a stronger one underneath. I am positive that the backpack has nylon or leather undernearth the cable knit and the knit is sewn on to give the impression of being the bottom, because otherwise, yes, it would rip VERY easily......

Edited by englandmj7 on Jan 6, 2006 at 12:00 PM

  7. ^^ Yes, it is the cable knit bottom backpack. Some have elk bottoms, which are not as nice, which is why I did not post them. If you own a pair of Visvims or any Visvim clothing you would know that the exterior is normally simple and appears plain, but it is the attention to detail and craftsmanship that I like about their products. If you see other pics of the backpack it has all kinds of unique compartments, straps, designs, etc. As well as elk hide attached to the zippers and beautiful knitting work. That is why I like it..........

Also, about the Tweed shoes, I am pretty sure you could only get them in Japan and haven't found them online. They came out about 2-3 months ago........

  8. I just bought a fucking amazing hooded fleece flannel at Walmart for $11 by Faded Glory. It is actually really nice; slap Supreme on that sucker and hypebeasts would go nuts for it.....they had it in green/black plaid, red/black, blue/black, grey/green, definitely worth it.....check it out.

  9. ^^ Of course there are mini-models you bloody fucking tampon, thats the purpose of the whole post!!!!! And wow, you know a talentless hack of a "jeweler"............asshole

Example: My Air Max 1 toy by "Sneaks for Freaks" (I also have 95s, Jordans, NBs, and every other exact fucking toy that Urist makes in metal, go figure)

    Urist's Charm:

    jrz2vk.jpg

Now instead of being a condescending dick head please explain this: why is it that every part that is painted on the toy shoe (i.e. the "Nike Air" written on the tongue) is not on Urist's model, but every engraved part is? Because painted parts wouldn't fucking show up if you casted the shoe.......no shit.....again, they are the same size, exactly the same engraved "embroidery" lines, same laces, everything.......so instead of being an absolute fuckface and using "I know him personally" as an uneducated idiotic attempt at a defense present some real facts.......
