  1. I highly recommend Osprey. Top notch construction, great suspension. I also recommend that you don't try to carry everything everywhere. Carry a pack big enough to get you through a week or so, everything else should be somewhat disposable or can be shipped.

  2. I was travelling through Southeast Asia several years ago and made a stop in Thailand. Had a bespoke suit made for around $300 usd. Damn good $300. I've received nothing but compliments everytime I wear this suit. People get gassed when I tell them what I spent. I need to get another one. Three too many beers and I really can't fit into the pants anymore. I still rock the blazer tho'.

  3. Go to Patagonia, in Soho or on the upper west side and get some plain board shorts. They will last you years, and work well, plus the cuts they offer are great.
