  1. my politics are informed. chiefly, by being a minority born and raised in new york who has seen more than a fair share of his friends and family displaced by the rapid gentrification of neighborhoods all across the city. i am about as far from a dilettante as you could get- and shallow generalizations about the socio-political and economic implications of gentrification from cartoons, white faux-radicals, and a poorly-written rag are the last places i'd look to.

so, fine. you're cool. you've got your liberal guilt firmly entrenched in your heart. but i'm wary of anyone whose FASHION choices and address mark him as a part of an entire generation's worth of white and asian kids who use irony and an over-sharpened wit to mask the fact that growing up well-to-do has left them without an aim in life.

what is your deal, why to do you waste your time giving a fuck about this, are you saying that you have more right to live in NY than say for example me because I wasn't born there? I'm sorry that you spend so much time upset at gentrification but isn't that just the natural way of any very large city. Things change, shit happens sometims people can't afford to live where they have for a long time, it's not a big deal. It's stupid to think no one should ever move to NY, and I'm so jealous of your awesome authetic NY life experiences that have entitled you to be a jackass..

(i don't live in brooklyn, but i imagine you hate the east village as well)

  2. Hey was just checking out the Number Nine stuff on Cliffedge, whats with all the terrible slogan tees for $185???? Prints include "Fuck You" "Fuck That" "Fuck Up" "Fuck It" "Piss Off" "Shit Happens" "Just Don't Give a Fuck" "Sounds Like Bullshit"

    I find it very odd

yeah some of the stuff is pretty stupid no doubt, as has been discussed here before cliffedge definately caters to the streetwear side of the brands they have, so they do have a lot of dumb shit that would appeal to kids (or people that truely "don't give a fuck") the good pieces aren't terribly common on cliffedge but there is some stuff running around

  3. http://www.cliffedge.co.jp/ there you go it's super easy to buy from and like the banner says free EMS anywhere in the world. You just buy like you would from anyother webstore and they send you an email telling you what the conversion rate they used was then a couple hours later you get an email again from them telling you it shipped and then three days later you get a fun package

darkanimal: yeah slowly i am getting better at Y! japan, eventually i'll probably be able to cut cliffedge mostly out, some ought to start a thread to contribute yahoo tips to, or maybe there already is one?

ddohnggo: it's not really very thick about like an AA hoodie i guess though it does have the waffle/thermel weave on the inside like that thermal i got from you and so much other n(n) stuff

while i'm on the topic of n(n) one of you might know didn't they make a year or so ago a black metal with black rhinestone snap-ring that you could put your keys on? that's the item i most look for on yahoo

  4. nice, i like it! where'd you get the n(n) hoody from? what was the damage?

got it from cliffedge, they only had them for about a day before it sold out, got it for just under 300 (297) which beats n(n) new york considerably, though i suppose you could get it cheaper on yahoo.jp through juno but i'm not really clear on whether juno is operating with auctions right now and i don't like to wait (cliffedge is a great shipper)

  5. what can a book teach you about thrifting? curious

that book (I have it) doesn't really teach anyone anything that has ever stepped into a thiftstore but it's a pretty good fun read that anyone who's ever enjoyed thifting would enjoy

  6. agreed. i fucking love my thinkpad. i grew up with pc's, hated on macs.

but thinking of picking up a notebook at some point- probably for djing.

true, i've had several thinkpads now and don't know if it'd ever want to leave the trackpoint, I use two X40's now and it's a dream

  7. i see where u are coming from but ive heard of other couture pieces costing that much . i just dont understand what kind of labor would justify that much money

55,000 isn't a particularly expensive true couture gown, it would be very possible to spend 200,000 at Christian LaCroix for example and he's one of the newest couturier's in the fashion world, Certainly Valentino, Dior, Chanel, Pucci and several others all will make gowns in excess of 200,000 (the market is just very small for them)

  8. dont worry he meant post in the thread where you found the picture. i remember that thread and it was enormous and im pretty sure like a million people asked where to get something like it but there was never a conclusive answer.

i would like to find something like that too.

no i meant the thread that was posted two hours before the one calistyle posted that had the picture with tara reid where that guy was looking for the hoodie as well

  9. the hoodie that the guy in the first picture is not Dior Homme, the next pictures are of a self made copy of the Dior Homme hoodie. They pop up on ebay very rarely but if you watch you might grap one for ~400USD

the selfmade sweater was posted on here a long time ago, i think i recall his girlfriend actually made it for him and next time just add to the thread you got the picture from

  10. i haven't seen any italian raw jeans in the NYC store, i don't really care where the denim is from particuarly but i do look when i have bought the jeans, the end of the issue is you're not buying DH jeans because the denim is fabulous you're buying the jeans because you can't get the cut anywhere else (19cm at least, maybe the 21's cut are available in other brands)
