  1. Driving 1300 km to hang out in Portland for a few days with the lady and a couple of hounds. Staying at the Ace, plan to eat and drink a bit of beer. Have a short list of places but if anyone has a preferred brewery, place to take dumb fuzzball pooches or spend too much on  ladies clothes I'm all ears. I have a pretty good idea where I want to go but I'll take suggestions.

there are tons of great suggestions in this thread already... just go back and read a few pages.

  2. Go to a proper running store and have your gait checked out. They will be able to advise you as to what type of trainers you need, whether you need support etc. It's important to get a trainer that matches your running style, if not you run the risk of injury later down the line.

Wouldn't start off with a Nike Free run personally, they're more aimed at those transitioning from supportive trainers to running barefoot... bit much (or not enough) for a person just starting off.

Running in Free stuff just goddamn kills my achilles for some reason.

  3. Not for nothing, but have you been to the "old standbys?" Wildwood, Higgins', Paley's Place? They got their reputations for a reason, though I admit I've not eaten at any of those three in the last year...

Kiya goes to Higgins every time he visits. Says it is fucking legit.

  4. The problem with dry-fit is if you don't wash it every time you sweat on it, it starts to stink pretty quick. That's really my only gripe with the nike uc stuff. I run with a veilance windshell sometimes and it never gets 'sweat smelly'.

it's probably gross to many, but i don't machine wash it until i have to. I just hand, cold wash after each run.

Luckily for me, It tends to skew towards the side of torrential downpour in Portland so my shit is always, always wet, regardless of whether is sweat or precipitation. ha
