Allen,
Nice pics - and a good visual explaination. One last detail about them, were all pairs washed and dried the same? Is the shrinkage complete for all pairs?

Can anyone comment (or post photos) on the fit and quality of these jeans - I really like the look of them from pictures - and at about $225 shipped to my door, the price, if the quality is good.Quote:I totally forgot you can order stuff from Guitarwolf. They have some jeans made by Drybones. But they do ask you to send them a international money order. Not sure if Dry Bones is taking the orders or Guitarwolf.
Here's the site that I almost ordered from:

Too true. My buddy Allen, he posts here - he's got a nice pair of reissue chucks that go well with various LVC jeans, and flight jackets. I'm looking into a pair of PF Flyers for the fall, myself.Quote:
that's true about the repro/vintage jacket freaks and denimheads----------and they share a love of chuck taylors.Quote:I am into vintage flight jackets - A-2's, M-422A's, early nylon jackets - and they all look much better with some selvege denim. There's a cross pollination of jacket nerds and denim heads. A jacket nerd friend of mine got me hooked on LVC's and then I found this site. The rest (and my bank account balance), is history.

Not at all! I'm pleased to be able to do more than just ask questions all the time. I hope it helps all these companies see there's money to be made shipping outside Japan! And get me more jeans, of course.Quote:jake, I hope you don't mind but I added your info on skull jeans in this thread:

Yep! I emailed them (and used the Google Translator to create the Japanese text) with both English and Japanese text, asking if they would ship internationally to the USA. They said they would; I should email them letting them know what jeans I wanted and they would send me via email an English language order form for said jeans. The only problem is due to my automatic email signature (the Albert Einstein quote below), they think my name is Albert Einstein.Quote:do you mean that skull's online shop ship internationally?

Thanks for the opinion! I'm excited cause they will ship to the USA, which is handy. I really like them, from what I've seen. I hope to pick up a pair of Skull jeans, and possible a pair of Samurai jeans as well over the summer.

I'm also curious about Skull jeans - any opinions would be welcome.Quote:ryu-
I was looking at your blog and saw that you had two pairs of skull jeans. How do you like them? What's the quality of the denim like? I was curious because now I'm rethinking whether I want to buy a levi's reproduction or something that's a little bit more fitted and I noticed that skull has some nice slim fit models (I'm also a fan of the natural leather patch)

How's the shrinkage on these - should I be looking to get my waist size (34) or should I be looking to get a pair marked 36 - and they'll shrink down to a 34?

Can anyone comment on how Ironheart jeans wear and how they fit, or look like when worn?

From what I can tell, the '47's are one of their biggest sellers. Plus, you can argue that they are a slim jean, and slim jeans are in right now.Quote:how come the '47 deadstock came out every season?

So I was browsing the book "Rebel Style" last night, and I am obsessed on finding some plain t-shirts that are cut in the vintage style - looser crew neck, with shorter (also tighter?) sleeves than modern short sleeve t-shirts seem to have.
Anyone have some good recommendations as to where I can get those - online or a store? I'm a Chicagoan, so it's gotta be in Chi-town if I have a prayer of getting them in person.
Thanks all,
-Jake

If you walk along North from Ashland west to Damen, you'll have a few stores to check out (Untitled, Akira, to name two). Then walk down Milwaukee, heading South. On Division between Ashland and Damen you'll see more cool stores to take your money.

So I should expect about 2 inches of shrinkage in the legs, correct? The stf sticker on them is alarming, but I've never heard of anyone lose a full three inches in inseam length on these bad boys.

Anyone know anything about this brand?
I bought a pair of their jeans in a raw (non-selvege) denim, and I was curious to hear other people's opinions...

I know they have cheap selvage jeans available in European H&M's - anyone see them available in the US? If so, any opinions/pics?

Thanks Jim - that's okay about the length, Ideally, I'd order a 36 waist, 34 length, I want them to wind up about 34W and as close to 30 inseam as possible.Quote:The contacts at the Levi's Store there in SanFran are Ben or Oscar, at 415.501.0100. They get 'small' shipments every now and then, but so far not many have been very long (36L or more) so I'm waiting the big shipment, hopefully arriving at the end of the month.
The cost quoted was $150.00 each, although when available, they run about $135.00 a pair from DecoDenim (877.505.3847). The problem at Deco right now is the LVC line doesn't seem to have been updated, and the DecoDenim folks weren't able to track down the new (dry) 1947s product number, to order from their distributor, as of yet.
For some reason there are some issues occuring with the LVC line and as a result, deliveries of the 1947s and others are spotty at best. The LVC link on their website hasn't been updated, either (it still shows the old Spring line-up) so maybe that's a clue of sorts.
Anyway...

Jim,Quote:Thanks for the heads-up, Paul T!
I am presently awaiting a new shipment of 1947s arriving at the SanFran Levi's store by the end of this month. I wanted to mail-order in a pair or two of those (dry) jeans, and I want to get the correct size, of course.
I ordered a pair of the 1947s (again, dry) a few years ago when they first introduced them on the (U.S.) LVC line-up. I received a pair of 36W-36L, to shrink to 33W-33L, and they did just that.
On this new pair, I'd like to get the 34W-36L to get a slighter snugger fit at the waist (32, hopefully).
With this revelation, it sounds like I should go just ahead and order-in another 36-36, doesn't it?
Thanks again,
Jim

How much are 1947 LVC's from the San Fran Levis store? And can you share the contact info?
Thanks.

Okay - if I get a pair of tagged 36, they'll shrink down to a 34 waist, yes? Or are they smaller even than that?Quote:34" tagsize 47 rigid are a full 2" smaller than LVC 2001 '33 rigid with a 34" tagsize. likewise the 1937 jeans seem to be 2" smaller than their predecessors.

Re LVC 47 sizing - ALOT SMALLER? Meaning what - are they like modern 501's?
Hands down Canes why?
Thanks,

Ironically, I will be able to find the sugarcanes (http://historypreservation.com/hpassociates/detailpop.php?uniqnum=127) EASIER than the LVC 1947s. And most likely, at $179, they will be cheaper. But - are they as good? Better? Worse? That is my only real concern.Quote:go with what you can find, go with what you can afford, go with what looks good, and finally go with what's original: levi's.

I think the point was to show the "slim jean" characteristics of the 47's, as compared to other 501's. You can disregard the tagged size and just go by measure, but you can also argue that comparing the cut of the same size jeans can easily show fit differences between models.
