  1. Last 2 nights in HK. Had a semi-fun night in LKF on Friday and a hilarious drunken mess of one last night in Sheung Wan. What to do Monday/Tuesday night? Can and will travel around, my hotel is at Jordan. However, being a Londoner, my usual flex is pubs, sketchy bars and grimy clubs, none of this polished club bollocks. Any suggestions?

  2. xcoldricex... what's the process for getting 45rpms fixed? My Suminados are in need of some repair seeing as I've worn the shit out of them, one of the back pockets is torn all the way along the top, etc. etc. I'm not gonna be in NYC any time soon, reckon I could send them in from the UK?

  3. Seeing as I have done nothing more than vaguely mumble "uh, maybe?" to tg and Sera hasn't even seen her invite, I'm confused as being confirmed as attending.. I'm busy in the studio and then at work anyway, so have fun kids. If Sera does choose to go then any male admirers should bear in mind that I'm over 7 foot tall, possess the strength of a hundred bears and can breath fire. tg can confirm this

  4. I have no idea how the hell some of you are coming up with the conclusion that "computers killed music" and that Pro Tools is some sort of evil. Pro Tools is a tool and is completely subject to the level of skill of its operator. There have been a shitload of amazing mixes that have been done in the box on Pro Tools, much in the same way that there have been plenty of horrible mixes done on very expensive analog setups.

  5. Nope, one of the bonuses of Shige is that he works ridiculously quickly. Each of those was probably 30 hours tops, the man is an absolute machine. Only person I've seen who works any quicker would be Filip Leu...

  6. London is entirely what you make of it, as long as you take the right approach to it and are willing to go out to get or do stuff

If you're going to live in London, do it properly and live near where stuff happens... I could never imagine commuting, you'd miss out on all the nightlife London has to offer. Personally, if I weren't living where I am now, I'd probably live around the East End, Whitechapel/Mile End/Bethnal Green area... or around the Shadwell/Docklands area. But, again, that's mainly because I like the area and I'd like to be able to walk home from all the night spots along Brick Lane and Fabric/Cargo... My advice would be to find a place offering a shortish let (3-5 months, usually cheaper too) in the closest place you can find that's vaguely central, find your feet, and then move. Also, with the fun (read: torment) that is flathunting in London, being London based while looking is a great help

There's also a really strong Australian/New Zealand/South African community in London who, from what I've heard, love helping their own kind settle into London, so you'd have that too

As for the rest of the UK, forget it. The only other place that I'd consider worthwhile is Edinburgh, and even then it's nothing compared to London. London's the only place with the critical mass of people and cultures needed for it to be a world-class city, the others are still teething

  7. When are you planning to move on this? I would love to commit but don't really have the money right now... although, I'm sure I could dip into some funds I shouldn't if it's going to be soon =)

As this is only a sample can you not talk to CYC and tell them that this is not what you were expecting and ask for some changes? If you're ordering a whole batch wholesale they should be able to up the spec for not too much (e.g. better zippers... I'm sure that they'd be willing to do that at $3-5 per piece extra seeing as that's paying for the zipper many times over)

  8. Just for you Paris people out there, 45rpm service unfortunately doesn't offer anything more than chain-stitching. I'll be sure to drop my jeans off at 45rpm New York if ever I'm near there for a full servicing =)

  9. How on earth could it be 12 miles away? It's closer into the centre than Tottenham and try telling people from Tottenham that they're not Londoners...

But yeah, fuck going to Hackney or anything on that huge road that is Kingway, Stoke Newington High Street and about 5 other different things, it's a pain in the arse I avoid at almost all costs

Shoreditch is a general waste of time, as is general London snobbery about where people live (not directed at anyone here, just a general point). South of the river, North of the river, East, West... who the fuck cares, that's what we have bikes, feet and Oystercards for. Live, eat, drink, shop across London, get the best of everything

  10. I dunno I smelled it before - couldn't tell wtf it smelled similar too ..

I seriously doubt what it tastes like has shit to do with what you've eaten unless that's what you eat 75% of the time ...

It has everything to do with your diet. It's not like it tastes exactly like what's been eaten that day, but it has been found that certain foods make it taste worse, and certain things make it taste better. Do a taste test - go down on a girl who eats junk most of the time, then eat out a vegetarian. Report back!

  11. No, no you shouldn't

If you knew our flamboyantly, extremely vocal gay friend Gaz, then you'd understand why we have full knowledge of many, many arcane sexual practices. That, and we grew up on the internet

Who's up for discussing red wings?

  12. Pho rocks, but getting really good pho in London is not as easy as it seems. Everywhere seems to dilute the stock and get the herbs wrong. Bastards

Hah, I never had a problem with Koreans, but putting good Xiao Bai Chai (small stemmed Bak Choi for the confused) into kimchi is sacrilege. Stir-fried with a lot of garlic or lightly blanched, those things are too tasty to be wasted

You've made me want to start a Chinese food thread where I can yell at everyone for thinking that westernised Chinese food is where it's at. You ain't lived till you've eaten proper hawker food
