don't want to take anything away from this thread, but hot damn I hope no one sizes like that, that looks unbearably tight no matter how much they stretch...
Question though...if you hadn't seen that weird fly with its top button unbuttoned like that, would you have have said that based solely on the leg fit? For me, when I see the way it wrinkles above the knee it doesn't look like the fabric is stretched tight and it looks fine to me. But that fly is damn strange though. Perhaps brokenglass, you are not truly a 29? From the waist down, it appears ok.

And as for fit:
almost exactly like my diors
So now my thoughts:
The fabric is truly all that's been hyped up about it. It's plain stunning to see in the light. I am already thinking about how I want to tweak my specs for a fabric 0 pair. His craftsmanship is indeed very good.
However some important developments. First notice that there is a different leather patch with words now instead of the one with just the logo as featured in all the pics in this thread. Second the little label in the inside of the waist with the japanese sun and the name of the mill is gone. I notice also that a long time ago the "artist" label used to be in his logo's font but now (as pictured on his site) is only simple block lettering. All of these changes, while not a deal breaker and certainly don't diminish his work, were a slight surprise to me. I do wish I had the old leather patch and that mill label was certainly a charming touch.
Now the big surprise -- these fit very slim like my Diors. From the measurements, the front rise is very high, accurate in terms of his measurements on his website. The waist, thigh, knee, and leg opening however are all slightly slimmer than what the website says. The waist was more 30 than 31. The upper thigh was slightly over 11 instead of 12 and the knee was 8 instead of 8.25 and the leg opening was 7.5 instead 7.75. I'm ok with the fit as is but I think I should have gone with a size 32 to account for all the variations that I'm sure are impossible to control for. When I get another pair in the #0 fabric, I may size up or maybe I'll even consider the black smith cut.

And now part 2 of my birthday denim binge featuring "non big name japanese brands" (see tender co thread for part 1)
I ordered from gun the following specs:
mechanic size 31
inseam 36
fabric #1
pocket fabric #12
double stitch hidden selvage for coin pockets
top button #1, middle buttons #4, and rivets #5
dark blue threads
no cince, no design on back pockets
blue label and I asked for it to be on the coin pocket not the back pocket
here are the results:
The color is way lighter and bluer than in real life. More like this:

It's my birthday in 2 weeks! so I went on a denim binge getting 3 pairs of "non-japanese big name" brands. This label was the easiest to order from since it was available at unionmade. I'm starting to be an overdye junkie so when I saw the pics of the purple dye above I had to include this in my denim binge.
This has got to be the most unique fitting pair of jeans I've ever owned
My camera doesn't capture the richness of the purple as well as above but here's a try:
My one let down with this pair is that I wish the overdying process was done just slightly neater. Or at least the drying process could be a little neater. The dying leaves some wrinkly streaks -- which would be ok and in fact gives it a lot of character provided the streakiness was random and all over. instead it's wildly uneven: I have large patches left almost black and untouched while other sporadic areas are cut with faded wrinkles
Other than that it's nice to have a pair in my collection that isnt another same levis repro, or modern slim cut. Thanks man! and get to that jean jacket!

but then they made 1001xx's with the 1000XX denim as well.
Was that in recent years or further back?

Anyone able to recommend me some overdyed denim, or deep indigo denim with sulfur/ indigo dyed welts to complement my current SDA103s? Would ideally like a more tapered fit than the 103s. Currently considering between IH-666ods, PBJ XX-007 and ER007-2Bs, but looking for some input beforehand. Any other recommendations just holler out, preferably models easily obtainable within the UK/Europe. Cheers!
Just received my Tender Co. purple logwood overdyes. Check out the pics I'm going to put in that thread. The taper is very unique -- you will have plenty of thigh room.

interesting, do you find that it fades very fast? I can count one one hand how many times I've worn my pair and already certain spots have lost their dark black-blueness. I can only imagine what they would look like now if I actually wore them.

wow, how did you avoid that hip flare?

fine but when you finally do end up throwing it at that person -- it feels damn good!!

Was so nice yesterday I decided to take a pair that i don't wear often out for a spin in Central park. I still haven't decided yet whether I want to hem them or keep them long and cuff.
the denim is gorgeous in the sun, too bad these pics can't show that well

i think they say "fuller in the thigh" referring to the more extreme taper on the 011 and 013. Overall they are tighter than the 005 but relative to the leg opening the are "fuller" in the thigh.

This blade, he says, was made by a small family-owned smithy that used to make deadly Samurai katanas in the past. [/i]
how very "Kill Bill"! :-)

x post -- see Eternals thread for more pics and descriptions
About 9 months of fairly regular wear. A couple of washes.
Camera does a bad washout. Most accurate color representation is the back pocket close up pic. Why is my left calf fading faster than my right? ha

Washed my BIG pair since the Feb pic above:
I hate my camera, the washout it adds changes depending on where I aim the lens. This pocket photo is prob the most accurate for color. I'm not loving how the threads are coming apart faster than the fading is progressing. Look at all the spots where the threading is disappearing.
and I"m going to have to fix this button hole soon:
but overall, happy with how the dark color is retained:

Man I see so many sizing questions, think I'll just wait to purchase mine in July when I go to NYC
that is an excellent idea

congrats! i agree that the denim has so much character and what I love about it is how it manages to do that without being 21oz. I was so surprised by the lightness when I first got mine. From the pictures it just seems like it should be a lot thicker.

oops forgot to mention about the denim: looks pretty but if I hear anything about "dangerously low tension" one more time...
