  1. themdouble, you almost convinced me. The women are ok, appart from them being Brazilians.

No one hates Brazilians more than Brazilians themselves, we have nothing like patriotism.

I can't get what you foreigners see on Brazil... (maybe appart from the women, fun, beaches?)

There's nothing here... No designer stores, no good food, no good construction/houses, no good education system, no good television, no good cell-phones, no money, no quality products, no hope for the future (I'm 19 yrs old), plus we have to pay the highest taxes in the world, for corrupt politicians.

Sorry for the rant, this has a lot of meaning to me.

  2. In a sort of way, quality is not a trend or that which JohnW said, although I have enjoyed reading both your posts, wild_whiskey and JohnW. In my case, buying quality is buying smart. Be it buying a pen that writes better and lasts longer, a fragrance that smells better, a 320kbps MP3 instead of 96kbps, confortable long-lasting socks instead of low-quality ones, good-tasting expensive quality coffee, etc. That being said, the hardcore/authenticity/trend thing is an Extra/an Option. You can be a diehard football fan or you can be someone who watches football games once in a month and like it the same. In a similar way, you can get into quality because you want to make a statement or appear more refined than other people, or you can buy quality simply for quality :)

  3. hey wild_whiskey, but how about your nudies? it seems to me you accelerated the wear by washing them. Or possibly the difference is in that you used starch too?

  4. I live in Brazil, and I don't think the girls in those pics are that beautiful... BUT, I've been to Europe (not USA yet) and the girls look so much better there!

In fact, I'm sick of Brazil, although Rio is beautiful it has no money, no quality. No education, no good stores, no good products. Anyone wanna change countries with me? lol...

  5. Since that's Supershopper I guess it is ok to ask about that?

What's the best material do make book covers?

Is it elephant leather? Ostrich leather? some artificial material?

    thanks

  6. poly800rock, that's a felled inseam:

    felledseam3dq.jpg

notice it doesn't show a frayed edge.

As far as quality goes, my preference for APC is totally subjective. Nudies are great except APCs cost half.

  7. Besides Liberty there's:

    AIME - 32 Ledbury road - W11 2AB London

    DIVERSE MEN - 286 Upper street - N1 2TU London

    SELFRIDGES & CO - 400 Oxford Street - W1A 1AB London

    In Italy:

    IN-CON-TRO - Via Oss. Mazzurana 22 - 38 100 Trento

    check http://www.apc.fr

The wider cut could be either the English(Anglaise)(full-cut) or the Rescue(Bootleg)(regular), and the narrow cut could be either the New Standard(Unisex)(slim) or the Tight Jean(Cure)(tight).

  8. You know if they are sanforized? I think they are. In that case, they almost won't shrink at the WAIST, but some 2" lenght-wise. You could not wash them ever and get fantastic results, maybe better than the transformation wash, because it will keep the dry look. If you do wash them, yeah, pull on the legs like crazy while they're wet. You could also dry clean. The stretching rack seems like a great idea.

  9. well, I did the denim rubbing only twice, for some 20 minutes or so each time. If you don't take the bleeding indigo out it won't wear out as much, and if you do it for 1 minute everyday (or less) there will be good results...

  10. shinobi, I used a hem of some dark jeans that I kept. then I started rubbing it against my APC jeans, sitting cross-legged (to maximise the creases). After a while (it's a slow thing) I used a towel to clean the bleeding indigo (it started to bleed from the rubbing) and then, after taking the indigo out with the towel, I could already see a difference in the color. (sorry if this doesn't make much sense!)

  11. Yeah, dry cleaning may be a good option.

Not sure, though, how much does the color become greyish from it,

and if it changes the ability of the denim to wear out (or not)?

  12. I bought 2 products to try getting rid of the smell. One is similar to fabreeze, it basically covered the smell with a fragrance and gave them a bit of freshness. The other I bought recently said in it that it kills the smell by using chemicals, not by covering it with perfume. It seems to work better, they now barely smell.
