  1. i just got the XXX in today. they are pretty awesome. a real cross between the high end oni's in terms of denim and the 1000XX Warehouse in terms of look and fit. to the casual eye, they actually look like levi's. buy two sizes up, because they shrink that much, just on a cold wash. funny how this company is a startup.

  2. Yup, the funniest thing was that after trying for a long time, I finally got the CEO - Drew Davis - on the phone. He actually said to me "I'm not the warm and cuddly type, but I can cut you checks" and promised to send back payment (at that time for 3 months) that night. But apparently, he is not one to keep promises either. I emailed him with details of the agreement we made on the phone, and never heard back from him. He never returned a phone call or email after that. And he sure didn't cut any checks.

If there are any designers or reps thinking of doing business with Active Endeavors, I'd think twice about it. It's not worth the hassle having to look over your back all the time. Guys like this will fuck you over the moment they think they can.

How can you guys bash active endeavors when their male models look so cooooool!

  3. the length on these guys shrank up more than any other pair i own (almost 4 inches), and that was without using the dryer!

to add, i don't know how you people are 'sizing down' on these. i bought my true tag size and they shrank accordingly. give you downsizers 5 years, when you develop guts, and see how much you can 'size down'!

  4. I actually got a size 36 because the website in japan said that the waist measurement on them was 94CM but I feel like it's more like 90CM (will check when I get home). The rest of the jeans fit great but my concern is that i cant really button any of the buttons right now so how will wearing them around stretch them? Argh! I hate to think I wasted like $400 on these jeans and I really want to keep them.

it's troubling to read this because i'm the same size, although unlike yourself, 38 eternal fits me fine. oh well, we'll see what happens when they get sent out.

  5. wow, fastest growing thread in history!

look at it this way. at least there's tons of other brands to explore and love: apc, dior, rag and bone, 5ep, 45rpm, lee repro, and hell even LVC.

and another thing: it will potentially push the japanese repro denim phenom further underground. i remember when i had to wait tooth and nail for grandism to get their edo ai's in stock. or explain to the nice folks at history pres about sizing up to shrink down. it sure made the hunt a lot more fun!

  6. i was hoping to get a pair...kinda disappointed to hear the creases wear out, i like that detail. Still they look like a well made, nicely fitting khaki pant. I think that hook fasture detail looks even better on the khaki than it does on the denim.

Those I would get in a more relaxed fit.

they don't wear out entirely, just don't look as severe. i would just say they look more natural after a while. the fake crease look to me is too close to the fake whiskered look on jeans.

  7. someone start an east coast crew meeting thread

we can sort out the particulars

we really ought not hijack the self edge thread, yeah?

EDIT: and an "over 25" policy is not a great idea; i think we'd be surprised how young some of our fellow denimheads are...

never did i say exclusively 'over 25', i just said more representation from us older peeps. from the self edge party pics, the majority of party looked frightfully young. the last thing i want to do is travel a great many miles to feeling like i've crashed an undergrad party. sure, i just wish i was 5 years younger. 10 years younger even to take advantage of all these free skateparks popping up all over the US suburbs. to think all the arrests and tickets I had to endure.

  8. BiG is a great shop. I got my Warehouse 1001xx's from them, and I couldn't have had a more painless time popping my, uh, Japanese denim cherry, if you will...

agreed. about those warehouse, i can't believe more people don't give that brand love. truly an underated underappreciated underdog. the best bargain for natural indigo!

  9. Do the 811s fit a lot tighter than the tagged size? I was looking at the measurements online and most websites say that the waist measurement on the size 36 is something crazy like 87cm. The one which is like 95-100cm which is what I'd need is a size 40 which just seems insane...

for the hundredth time, size up two inches for Eternal 811's. treat them like LVCs that have been washed and dried once, hence shrinking two inches. there's no reason that someone should have to endure pain to wear jeans. and if you want to be able to wear these 5 years down the road, you can't be wearin' em tight. you'll grow right out of them, i promise.

really? i don't understand the appeal of Boris. I want to like them real bad, but i just can't do it. i feel so many other bands do this sound better. examples that come to mind: sleep (esp. volume I), isis, earth, dead meadow etc.

What have you heard? Nearly every Boris album sounds different. Amplifier Worship, Heavy Rocks, Flood, the Merzbow collabs, Feedbacker/Boris at Last and Akuma no Uta all sound pretty unique.

akuma (own) and pink. they're ok, just not as good as i want them to be. i end up wanting to hear Sleep or 5ive instead.
