  1. Just a note to anyone buying off of the apc website, I'm in Canada and got a pair of New Standards but watch out for the 50$ they hit you with for brokerage fees (I think they shipped FedEx...) And if you're in North America, they'll probably dispatch your order from NYC, cause that's where mine came from.

  2. Genetically it's probably a good thing, but isn't everyone going to start looking (more) the same? And then more "pure" looking people will get all the modeling jobs cause they look different...

What does Russell Peters have to say about this...

  3. I have some WE pieces (tees, hoodies) for a few years now and they're still in awesome shape. The fit is pretty slim and the pieces are simple. Probably easier to find in online shops now that they're going by the name WESC - they're older stuff all had that "superlative conspiracy" thing going on anyways.

  4. I'm not reading it right now, but hands down the best book I've ever read is American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis. He's pretty graphic in his descriptions, so it's not for everyone.

Another great book is Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh.

Too bad the movies they made of these books sucked.

  5. I also remember some of my friends staying at hotels in Akihabara for like 80$ a night... Place wasn't so bad.

All I can say is don't go to Kyobashi to stay. There's a capsule hotel there for like 40$ a night, that is dirrrty. I'd rather sleep on the street.

Yeah, the trains stop pretty early... And it's pretty far to walk places after they stop. I would just recommend sleeping in a mangakissa for like $3 an hour. You get like a little cube where you're supposed to browse the internet and read comics, but I know of people sleeping in there. Just rest up til your first train the next morning then head home, shower, change and go out again.

Places don't seem so far on the train, but I remember trying to walk home one night and it took a lot longer than I thought it would. Japan's residential areas are creepy at like 3am too.

  6. Ha, yeah, I agree. They get worse, the lower you go down.

I think the ones by Hirooka Tsuyoshi and The Skull Dezain are alright. What I'm angry about is not taking some of those event billfolds in Tokyo as posters...

  7. I liked Kichijoji too, but places are a bit tougher to find there... For toys, I remember there was a place right outside Ueno Stn called Yamashiroya... Easy to find, and like 6 floors of random toys...

Booze is really cheap at convenience stores, so if you want to be ghetto about it, just drink up before going out... Haha... I don't like paying 12USD for a pint of Guiness! The onigiri at convenience stores will fill you up ok for cheap too. Just make sure not to get the ume. That is a ball of hate. If you're looking to save some cash on a meal, just run to a kaitzenzushiya. They have that sushi on the conveyor belts for pretty cheap. There are places in Kabukicho that have em for 100 yen a plate....

You doing any siteseeing? I think that a good place is prolly Kamakura... Only 40 mins from Tokyo and it's kind of a relaxed town... Doesn't cost much to get there, it's not as expensive as somewhere like Kyoto for each place you go into.

Best places for clothes shopping are Daikanyama and Harajuku, I would say... Funnest places to just wander around are Shinjuku and Shibuya...

  8. Hey guys,

Been looking to get a few posters... I actually was looking for a nice digital canvas print, but I haven't had too much luck in that department either.

Found this one site http://www.printem.org/, but was wondering if anyone knew another online shop that carries similar stuff? Most of the stuff on this site I'm not feeling, but there are a few decent prints... Any ideas?

  9. I like their stuff too, but it's a bit pricey, in my opinion. I saw a nice hoody in Shibuya for $600, which is a bit outta my price range. I find that their stores - at least the ones I've been to - don't carry all too much stock either...

  10. Hey, Tragic nice website. Man that looks like a lot of work ; )

If I've got something in more color in mind, it would probably be better to just do those printed iron-ons, huh? Is there any tradeoffs with something like that (aside from being completely ghetto by trying to use some crappy color printer)?

    Dag, I'm in Canada.

  11. Hey guys,

Need some help with printing t-shirts. Starting it off just for fun, but would like to try and yield some decent results. I pretty much have zero knowledge on the topic, but wondering if anyone can point me to any good resources or have any thoughts from personal experience? Like procedure, etc...?

    Thanks!

  12. Quote: and what do they do with last collections stuff??

throw it away or donate it to the poor or orphants??

I've heard from a few people that it's shipped back to the company to be destroyed for partial credit. I'm not sure if that's true though. It would make sense if they want to keep the overall price of the label high. Now if only they could just get rid of that counterfeit market...
