w)taps doesn't ride the hype train like some other japanese brands (bathing ape, etc)...it's a pretty consistent label with quite minimal pieces. the vision is simple, military inspired clothing with very few graphics. however, the quality is excellent, from the distressing to the fabrics, to the packaging...the creator is the same cat that started neighborhood, and has recently created a new line...not sure of the name, but visited the store when i was last in japan...excellent stuff...hands down one of my favorite labels....however...very high price points.

Shinsuke Takizawa does NBHD. His buddy TET does W)Taps and the new line you're thinking of is SVG (The store next to Philosophy.)

If u were into W)Taps since the beginning u'd know that the brand is heavily based on iconography and graphic tees aswell as technical but not too technical military pieces. Price is actually similar to BAPE etc.

    neighborhood

    bws

    bapex

    bounty hunter

    stussy

    space bug

    after hours

    etc etc

all them lines do XL bigger than your measurements. most stuff should fit u in an L or XL. I had no worries gettin stuff from these places in my size (around 34x34) or oversized.

better than shoppin in Australia where everythings got a fag cut. swear an AU Stussy XL T-shirt is a Stussy M size in Japan.

  4. Two pairs -Last year's Japan Levis Big E '44 remakes & a pair of '80s vintage levis from Buffalo Bob's in Harajuku.

Don't wear jeans much tho'. Most of my gear is W)Taps BDU shorts and pants.

  6. I been to Supreme in Daikanyama Tokyo a couple of times. No service unless u ask for it. Fine with me.

Its like every store in Ura-harajuku copied Supreme NYC's no service attitude. IMO Undercover is the worst - saw the staff loudly commenting that some kid in the changeroom wasn't cool enough to wear the pants he was trying on and hoped he didn't buy em. So I loudly said to my girl in Japanese 'Kono sutoa ga saitei da ne!' or 'This store sucks ass' and left. Funny looks on their faces too.icon_smile.gif

Dudes in Bounty Hunter are so fucking mean, I love it . Suits their style...icon_smile_big.gif

Recon is similar. Neighborhood and BWS are getting better and don't talk down to u as much. Philosophy selling Double Taps is scarily friendly. Must be their new 'Philosophy'.

I wanna go into Supreme NYC wearin 2 box caps, arch logo hoody, box tee, supreme jeans with box stickers all over it, and supreme dunks with 4 SUPREME lace blings on each pair and pick a fight with the staffers. Yellin' "Look at me u fuckin $10 an hour brand whores!", I'd smash em in the face with my deck! icon_smile_big.gif
