yeh - shanghai. timewarp-a-rama. just got back yesterday - been there twice for total 5 weeks out of the past few months. definitely great place to explore. think bangkok and paris meets mexico city but deep frozen in time for 60 years and trying to catch up and outdo the rest of the planet... [maybe like tokyo was around 1964] best things: everything old. 1930s architecture, old french residential quarter, some of the city parks... worst things: most things new. bland new architecture, bland brand shopping, plus street culture doesn't really exist yet, service can be rotten [yes...remember that this is still a 'communist' country] shanghai will eventually be one of the best cities on earth...but not till around 2025. take the maglev from the airport. its also one of the cheapest city on earth if you live like chinese do...
probably better to continue to discuss this topic on:
http://superfuture.com/city/supertalk/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=200
btw. we have just made an updated map of shanghai since the one on that post and will post it again.

we are constantly getting updates for stores...and want more...it probably just got caught up in my chronically choked up 'edit reviews' inbox. it all gets done.. eventually... its not a matter of 'passing' any censor... but it also isnt possible to give full public access to the review database.
anyway we are well aware of the issue of keeping reviews updated -- especially now we almost have 3000 to deal with -- and are in the process of setting up a more advanced content management system which will be introduced over the next few months where we are going to integrate supertalk with the reviews...which basically means users will have more direct access to make comments on specific reviews...
anyway what nyc reviews were you refering to? ill try and locate your info.

i tried to rip one of the poster off the wall in omotesando station last monday soon after they went up. really sharp printing and mounting on foam. better quality than you would see in the guggenheim. they would probably sell for a guggenheim price on ebay as well...
which other locations have people seen these ads? cool seeing them in subway station.
as for the condoms... no one will use them, they will just collect them/

got a freind in tokyo who is trying to flog a japan rail pass worth ¥27,000...
usually this is unavailable for people unless purchased outside japan.... its valid for about a year - i think? and extremely economical if you are trying to travel around the country
if you are interested i can hook you up with him... but offer is only for this week..

Supernatural Artificial examines the notion of artificial fabrication and staging in photo-based media. Presenting the work of nine leading Australian leading artists working in photography and video, Supernatural Artificial is a highly charged and moody exhibition which uncovers the un-natural and theatrical in contemporary photographic practice. Mixing equal parts fantasy and reality, each artist choreographs intense and strange scenarios, imbuing their images with unsettling drama and potency. Nine contemporary Australian artists deploy narrative tinged with psychological elements to create magical, supernatural and fake worlds.
