How is the jacket coming along?

Is this kase dyeing a kind of hank dyeing?

The jacket is great, recently got its second wash, I will post an update soon.

I’m not sure about the dyeing

  2. Picked up the S555VX25oz, I'm still on the hunt for a WW2 Type 1.  This jacket is beautiful, with lots of nice details.  This is the heaviest denim I own at 25oz so it will be an interesting experience.

    Chest Length Sleeve Shoulder Opening
    22.2 25.2 25 18.5 19.7

I'm a bit annoyed by the taper, to be honest

  3. Edwin Japan, Concept store Type 2 EDS 001-89.  I saw this jacket the last time I was in Japan but for some reason, I didn't buy it, the Harajuku concept store now does international orders so I picked one up.  I think this is a great modern type 2.

The pleats are stitched down vertically which I have never seen before, going to start wearing this soon.

    Looks great.

    How is the length?

And do they sport a T back on all sizes or just the bigger ones?

Not sure about the length I will measure it during the week. T back was a pleasant surprise to me I didn't see it in any images before.

What are the issues you’re meaning to highlight? I don’t see anything significantly weird in any of those photos

I agree that modern LVC is overpriced and probably a poor value proposition even at a discount, but construction-wise that looks the same as what I’d expect from the MiJ or MiUSA versions

Maybe construction is the wrong word to use, it just seemed noticeably different to the LVC type 1 I got and I wasn't sure if that was normal:

Loose threads, and yellow stitching along the selvedge id which at some points crosses the redline, warp threads seem missing at some points.  Now that I think about it, It reminds me of an S506 as if it was made in a rush.  I like it but it doesn't seem as clean as my type 1.

    Well, such is life? ;)

They are not thaaaat bad but if you are unhappy, send them back (if this is possible). Probably they tried to get rid off some old stock during the sale?

I'm keeping it, it has a lot of charm lol.

  7. I have been wanting an LVC Type 2 for a while now but Levis increased the price to £340 for some reason.  I assumed they would be Made In Japan or Cone Mills for that price.  Either way, I wasn't spending £340.

There is currently a sale on and I have discount codes on my account and I managed to get one for £224.19.  Which I thought was reasonable.

The jacket came and it has a lot of "character", and I was so surprised that it is made in Turkey.  WTF, how is the original price justified???

The majority of my denim is MiJ so when people mention how poorly made some products can be when made outside of Japan, I thought people were being a bit over the top.

This is the comparison between my MiJ Type 1 LINK

The construction isn't as clean, is this normal or did I get a battered display model?

    Japanology Plus - Denim

    Quote

Jeans are among the world's most popular clothes, and Japanese denim has a great reputation. Harnessing craft traditions, manual dexterity, and the latest technology, makers of Japanese jeans offer a subtle spectrum of blue dyes, a broad variety of textures, and excellent techniques to customize the way jeans look. Our expert guest, Shinsaku Sugiya, the vice president of Shujitsu University, is the author of a book about Japanese jeans. And in Plus One, getting an old pair of jeans revamped.

This used to be on YouTube but it looks like they have moved it,  It's an "older" short documentary but still very informative.

  9. Need some help last year I got an S40 jacket size 44, long story short it doesn't fit anything like a 44-inch chest size.

Are the measurements on the website up to date, do I really need to get a tag size 50?

  10. My birthday is coming up and I haven't bought anything all year which I'm actually proud of.  I want a new jacket but not sure what to get.  I can't get use to the length of my LVC type 1 so I want to get something to take its place(something with a back cinch).

https://hinoya.shop/en/collections/big-john/products/xx601 - I really like the look of this and it has a cool "story"
https://eu.lee.com/uk-en/shop/101-401-cowboy-jacket-L97K.html - Linen Cotton blend so should be good for the summer

    Any advice?

I bet you took your passport the first time you made the trip up north .  Good to hear you've been pleasantly surprised, appreciate your candidity

I've spent a lot of time in London over the years and have seen the attitude above sometimes but definitely not always and definitely reduced over time

Londoners are even making it as far as my home town in the North West... including a certain Super Frank who is settling in very well indeed and I reckon will have a nice cup in his cabinet in May!!!

To be honest with you I had been working at home for about 18+ months at that point.  When I got on the LNER, I felt like I was on the Eurostar heading to Europe .

Gutted by the cancellation of the eastern leg of HS2, if that was still happening I would seriously consider moving.

Why surprisingly?  Genuinely unperturbed by the word and curious to hear more... cheers

Just an ignorant Londoner to be honest, currently working for a company based in Leeds so I'm up there once a month.  I didn't know what to expect going to the "North".  The people are cool, I really like the accent too.

This picture sums it up actually.

edit: ignore the tea reference I think that must be an American thing

While it might not be everyone's cup of tea, the jeans at least seem super wearable to me.

It's what all the youth are into these days, oversize and baggy. These will sell super well in the Japanese, Korean, and HK markets.

yeah it will definitely sell well.  It just reminds me too much of this image from Hinoya
