To be fair, the customer service was super kind and directly offered a exchange or refund. I will go with the refund.

glad to hear it worked out for you

thanks for posting this. I have not noticed any of the issues you have mentioned but I will inspect my trousers and let you know my situation. I have worn my pair about a dozen times. always with the insulation inside. The bald patch on the knee is particularly concerning!

I had a chance to check my trousers out fully I am not showing any abnormal wear after about 20 uses.

Are you going to make a warranty claim with ACR?

Ok, so this is the p38-ad after two! months of normal wear. No sports, no fancy moves, just walking like 10 times in them.
This is the third item which was faulty or got damaged way too fast in the past two years of buying new stuff from acronym. Is it just me who is unlucky or does anyone else got complains about the quality?

Feel like the J3-HY hasn’t had a mention, has anyone splashed out and worn it?

I really like the look of that jacket but unfortunately I am too fat to wear it!

I will leave it for the more svelte members of this forum. I do however welcome the J99-WS, J91-WS and the J1W-GTPL.

Thank you for your feedback and thoughts but please do not size down on the j99 and more so in general, overall Acrnm clothing.

I am curious . . .why do you say do not downsize???

  6. Thanks for posting this video. There is a lot of useful information in it. I have the GT, DS and AD versions of these trousers and appreciate your comments on all of them.

Thank you @Roofmann and @zxcvbnnn for the input with the J99. Really interested in this piece. Owning a J61-GT, would that be the perfect liner or do you (or anybody else that wants to chime in) see the J99 as the perfect liner? Kind of unsure because the J99 does not offer auxzip. Or is the J99 more to be seen as a stand alone piece. THX.

the J99 doesn't need a liner because it is very well insulated. I normally just wear a shirt under it. When its get really cold (I am in Canada) I will probably wear my J-78-PX under it and that should be plenty.

J99 came in. The wide fit is a welcome change from the other slimmer insulators - pretty sure I could fit two of me in here. Incredibly versatile too. It can take on several silhouettes depending on how you close it, and it looks good over everything from a tee and cargos to suiting. Definitely the choice for static warmth in the cold. And the welt pockets are cavernous - no issues fitting a 1L nalgene.

I got my J99 a short time ago. Yes it fits big! I normally wear an XL but because of the specs, I ordered and L. It still fits quite large and I rhink I could have ordered an M.

If you consider buying it go down 1 size or even 2.

It is very warm . . the warmest ACR piece I own. It is well-designed with lots of pockets and I was glad to see it has a YKK zipper which is nice and smooth.I have  similar ACR coat with the Ra******* zipper (I can never remember the full name) and it jams and sticks on a regular basis.

nope, just if there were other things to know from your experiences beside the instructions. I thought i was clear, it seems not

I spilled some hamburger grease on my trousers a short time ago. I followed the washing instructions on the label and the stain was still there. The stain was tallow/beef fat only!

So I washed them again in warm water with all other instructions as per the label. Still no luck. So applied a liberal does of "Shout" and then washed the trousers in warm rather than cold water. The stain was finally removed. There was no apparent harm to the garment, but perhaps some of the weather proofing was removed. (Some stated in an earlier thread that these E garments were good for 50 washes?) In any event, I broke some of the washing rules.(I like to live Life on the Edge!) and nothing bad happened. but maybe the laundry police will show up with a warrant.

Have to say that when I got my P30a-E that I was really rather disappointed compared to the V1.0 ds iterations, material felt unsubstantial especially given it is for 4 season use.

Far less comfortable as the material has no give.

Anyway, long story short, I sent them back and got a refund. My goopimade pants are far more comfortable given the similarities in fabric and a fraction of the cost but still look as good in my humblest of opinions.

Needless to say I'll get the DS version if I can find any in the alpha colour here in the UK, but I'll avoid the E-nylon in the future.

I must agree with your comments as well as those of chris_n above. The P30A-E's are a nice fit, well made and generally the design and pocket layout is good. The encapsulated nylon material is noisy, thin (light shines right through it), it doesn't stretch at all unlike the DS, and it is "cold." I wore my pants for the first time this morning when walking my loyal Bull Terrier and my legs were cold. (I live in Canada and the temperature was below freezing.)The E material seems to wick the heat out of my legs much quicker than DS trousers (both pants uninsulated.)

Another thing to consider is stain resistance. I stopped on my way home from work to grab a burger at a fast food place. While eating the burger, some beef fat squirted onto the leg of the pants. I eat my burgers plain so it was not a topping stain; only been grease (tallow.) I am still trying to wash the grease stain out of these pants using "Shout" "OxyClean" and the instructions on the washing tab.

All-in-all I will stick with DS Products in the future!

What do you mean flopped? NG4 1.0 sold out instantly. And that shit unreasonably re-sold for over 1k.

    Sorry Pumpkin!

I humbly apologize! Please forgive me!

Thanks for posting! Was the NG4 1.0 as popular as the NG4 1.1? I thought the first version sorta flopped? I have the first versions somewhere and I never wear it. I looked on Grailed yesterday and there were around 14 flippers. Correction 19!

Didn’t anyone cop P33-DS?  They’re quite straight, if a bit slouchier than combat pants.

33’s and 31’s are all I’m wearing nowadays. P24 cut is nice, but DS blows Stotz away in terms of versatility.

I am wearing the 31's in black and RAF green. They are great. I think I will buy a pair of Alpha Green to complete the spectrum.

Versatile as in weather conditions. DS is comfy in a wider range. Maybe swampy in heat & humidity, but S is too thick to be much better.

I was shoveling snow the other day, 10°, kinda wet. My legs would have been cold in Stotz, but P31’s were more than warm enough.

Don’t get me wrong, P24’s are great. Had there been a blazer to match, I never would have bought DS. But I’m a convert. Outdoorsy folk have been calling DS a miracle fabric for 10+ years.

I agree. DS is much better in cold weather (I am in Canada.) Wearing Stotz is like wearing metal pants. They are icy cold and stiff!

Lol. I have an 83 and don't find the zipper that bad, just took a little practice to get it right. I find pulling the bottom of the jacket away from my body when lining up the zippers and zipping up helps avoid the zipper catching on the ribbon. YMMV apparently.

That's a useful tip! You clearly have better hand-to eye co-ordination than me! :-)

If I may ask: What is the problem with the zip on the J83-WS? Is it the jamming-up or the visual aspect?
What I can tell from my eperience with the J74-PX is the "cover" material for the zip is jamming in and this is creating like a thin discoloration (like a white line) in the area. Talking black colorway here.
If needed I can add a pic.

    1. Make sure both upper and lower zips are moved completely to the bottom.

    2. Make sure the upper and lower zips are moved completely to the bottom and aligned vertically.

    3. Carefully insert right side of zipper thingy into jaws of death.

    4. Pray and make burnt offering.

    5. Slowly and carefully drag the zip straight up until it jams: and then start over!

    I am only exaggerating slightly!

I've got the J83-WS as well and it's absolutely dope, but the zipper is... temperamental. I love the look, but the bottom zip doesn't stay flush, and if it's not flush you can't unhook it. It does also bite the material sometimes which also makes it hard to undo.

I feel your pain!!! Every Day! If you are really careful and make sure everything is lined up, and the zippers are in alignment with the stars . . .it might go up without jamming! It shouldn't't have to be this hard! Good luck to all J88 owners . . .please post zipper tips here!

Any folks who picked up a LA8-AK mind sharing their initial thoughts on it?

I have one. I like it very much. Quite warm but light and open weave allows it to breath so you don't get overheated. Looks like wool but doesn't itch at all. Fits snug. For me the neck is a bit too tight when buttoned up fully. I took the shirt sling off because I found it annoying.

  22. 15 hours ago, GANGREEN167 said:

yes it is, in my opinion is one of the warmest jackets ACR makes!

Agreed! It is also more water resistant than the others. Only flaw is the zipper which is really finicky. I am used to it now but I still jam it from time to time!
