@mpukas just dug up some very old photos of the two, next time I see him I'll try to take some better photos.

    And here's my Panerai:

The ceramic Panerai is awesome, but that Lange 1 is like ultimate grail material

Btw, howdy from another Austin watch and denim fan *waves*

Fair play. I definitely am interested in mechanical movements as well, but I am way more excited about having a fully in house made quartz movement that is arguably the best quartz movement in the entire world than I would be about having a beautifully decorated ETA or ETA-based movement in another watch. In fact, there were several watches that I was quite close to buying, but did not for this reason. I can understand why people don't like quartz and certainly interests me in the same way that artisan denim, leather, and boots do because it was made to be the very best it can possibly be.

And yes, I know it won't be my last. I am already looking at Hi beats and spring drives.

Yeah, a GS quartz is a whole different ballgame. Would love to add a 9F to my collection at some point, and agree that I would do so over an ETA

    Red Wing Pecos today:

Those look sharp in suede. When I was growing up in south Texas everyone had the regular brown leather Pecos. The more scuffed up the better. We’d do everything we could to scratch them up as quick as possible haha

I need a good dive watch that will slide gracefully under a shirt sleeve. The Omega Seamaster is great for that but the rotating bezel sucks. The Damasko Dsub1 and the Dievas Maya Kk2 are two superbly over engineered German dive watches, but they have the typical "cliff" profile that makes them PITAs under a shirt sleeve...

Not sure what budget you’re looking at, but a 14060 is pretty thin by today’s dive watch standards.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Orient Mako is a great watch for the price

i'm not surprised if they drop the white gold.

WG for a watch like this is useless. it's quite a soft metal and has a premium price. a 'daily' kinda watch like a gmt should have SS to be able to handle the brutality. it's a nice watch but there's no way i'd get it in white gold. only sort of WG watches i'd probably consider are stuff that are going to be worn lesser and maybe a little dressier.

my previous wedding ring, a cartier was white gold, you should see the amount of fine scratches on it..

I’m certainly not going to argue that it should have been in WG, but in fairness, Rolex makes all their gold in their own foundry, and the WG mixture includes platinum so it isn’t as soft as “normal” WG. If I had the cash I’d have no qualms wearing a Smurf or BLRO as a daily.  Not to say it won’t still get scratches. Even my SS watches and platinum wedding ring are all scratched to hell.

Love this time of year for the Basel predictions....Monochrome does great mockups though they're never really right in their predictions, but DAMN I'd be first to drop on a slimmed down Sub (non-Maxi), or that Polar Explorer I....

Lots of talk about the WG BLRO being discontinued as well. If they bring back the SS Pepsi in a slimmed case...oh man...

I'm not critiquing your measuring ability, just saying that measuring horizontally across the waist and multiplying by 2 isn't all that precise

    True story ^

especially if you're like me and you've got something of a beer gut or love handles. If that's the case, then your waist may actually be wider than your hips, which means that until they stretch out the narrowest part of these jeans will hit you where you're widest. As others have noted elsewhere in the thread, these are features of the 47s that are more exaggerated in the bigger sizes, and this makes getting the right fit trickier in the absence of sizes 35, 37 & 39.

    *Nods*

If you're really miserable in the 36s, then I'd wear the 38s and just wash the crap out of them every week or two. This denim looks great with a heavy washing regimen.

    Good luck.

Yeah, don't mind the bagginess of the 38's, and they are comfy in the waist, its just the rise is way too much.

Thanks for all the feedback, everything you're saying make sense.

Buy and try them on from SE.  If they don't fit, send them back for a exchange. Before you do that, post a fit here so we can get an idea on whether or not they're too big, etc.

Yeah, I normally always use SE...used to live by the one in LA and I’m a big fan.  Unfortunately they were out of stock of 36’s and I was impatient and decided to just order from Japan.  My plan would have worked if they were sized like they were tagged!  I’ve gotten the waist stretched from 34 to a little over 35 just from wearing around the house.  If I can get another inch out of them somehow, I think they’ll work.  They’re not super uncomfortable now, just muffin top big time.

The 38’s were from SE but that’s on me, I tried to make them work for a month even though I kinda knew they were too big.

Thanks for the suggestion though, I’ll post fit pics in the future.

perfect everywhere but the tiny waist. Measures 17 across, so hoping they’ll stretch out as much as everyone says.

I actually took all the measurements and all dimensions are pretty much exactly what SE has listed for 34’s...yet the tags all say 36.  Pretty frustrating :(

  10. 1947 36’s came in from PSA (how great is Naoki, btw) and are perfect everywhere but the tiny waist. Measures 17 across, so hoping they’ll stretch out as much as everyone says.

My 2009’s have ended up perfect after a couple weeks of wear though!  Loving them and they’ll probably be my go-to’s as the weather starts warming

  11. Alright, y'all convinced me to believe in the stretch.  All the other dimensions on the 36 are what I want, so I'm going to give them a go.

If anyone is interested in my 38's (hemmed to 32 at Austin Denim Repair) with about a month of wear and 2 washes on them, let me know.

  12. Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster. For those of you with SC47’s, just curious where they sit on you. I’ve found that I basically have to hike them up over my belly button (and therefore halfway up my back with the rear rise) for the crotch/thighs/etc to line up where they are supposed to. This is fine when I’m standing, but as soon as I sit or bend over they slide down below my belly to my hips, even with my belt cinched tightly.

I’m normally a 36 in most jeans (LVC 47s 1-wash have been my go-to for the last decade), and need my jeans to end up with a measured waist around 37”, so I ordered a size 38 in the SC47 1-wash bc the waist on the size 36 looked like it would be too small in the SE measurements.  I may just be between sizes, in which case the answer may be that I need to lose 15-20 lb’s and then get the 36s haha.

Maybe I’m just not used to a high rise, but it gets annoying pulling my pants back up over my belly 100 times a day. Love the denim, details, and drape, but thinking about selling these as a result.
