    WW2 repro / detailed jeans

I am tempted by the TCB contest, partly because it's a WWII pair and partly just to participate in a contest. However, I'm struggling because I worry that even if I get them, I'm just going to go back to wearing my CSF jeans anyway. I also have those pretty special CSF jeans coming my way in late summer/early fall which is when the TCB contest starts... Even if I do participate in the contest, I highly doubt I would be torn from CSF permanently. For example, I own a few Ooe pieces, but I sold my one pair of jeans from them and while I am tempted to get another pair, I may never do so just because I know I won't wear them. I am not the repro enthusiast that most CSF fans are and everyone else in this thread has more knowledge on the subject than myself. In fact, I've gotten more into repro because of CSF. Still, just knowing that he uses period correct machines and hand folds the seams is big for me. Also, going to see him a couple times, talking with him, watching him explain how he does what he does and seeing some of his originals and watching him explain how he copies them is very inspiring. Also, I've gotten more devoted to CSF as I've worn my jeans. It's not just stitching imperfections. Just the way they're made adds something to how they fade and start to fall apart in my opinion. Maybe TCB has captured that with their new repro, but it's hard for me to take the risk when I already have it.

Thanks Volvo! Yes, I did. I hot washed them in the washing machine and even tumble dried them on the hottest setting possible. It shrunk them more than expected which is nice because it keeps them wearable right now. You can tell because now I can only single cuff them. They're still a loose in the waist, but I think they look pretty good anyway.

Shoes that look better with age...

I definitely will. Just need to get some decent shots of them.

I'm impressed by the people who are actually doing better during COVID in terms of working out and healthiness. I've been able to maintain my weight just fine and I'm doing workouts, but I really loved going to the gym so I'm not making the progress that I was before in terms of fitness.

Thanks Ed, but why insult Volvo and then compliment me in succession? Not cool. Volvo's one of the nicest and best dressed dudes here.

Shoes that look better with age...

Same, actually. I just wear basic white socks usually with my engineers.

Thanks! These jeans have shown me the importance of washing more frequently.

I have no idea how normal sized people even manage to fit into RGT jeans

Thanks @Bobbo! I'm really happy with how they're going.

It all adds to the character of the jeans in my view and the loose threads and flaws look better as I wear the jeans.

It's just a bunch of loose threads that he never removes. The actual stitching there is still holding up fine. Fair question though, it does look like it's falling apart there.

That is by far my favorite aspect of these jeans right now. I took so many pictures of that... most of them not good, but I was really enjoying looking at that. When I was younger, all I wanted was high contrast honeycombs... who needs that when you have reverse yoke puckering fades?

I actually have more if this isn't enough... Right now I'm happy with where they are, but I definitely am excited to go further with them partly because they are indeed the jeans that I have journeyed furthest with. I was always quite impatient with my jeans, but I finally have a pair of jeans that I am happy to keep wearing. They've already been my main jeans for over 2.5 years and I expect them to last at least 2 more. The only immediate possibility of them being shelved is that upcoming TCB contest, but I would go back to these after that again if I do participate.

Just gave my '37s another wash. Here are way too many pics.

    TCB

Yeah the arcs aren't worth the trouble. I am assuming we're going with plain back pockets then? I would not want the cat ears or anything like that for a WWII jean.

    TCB

That looks great. A minor price hike like that is more than worth it I would say.
  21. dudewuttheheck

    TCB

Perfect, but I don't want too much of a mismatch. They have to both be black or brown. I won't mix black and brown leather even in pocket bags.

    Samurai Jeans

    Damn, those look incredible!

    TCB

I was interested in the flannel, but this lottery solution absolutely would not put me off at all.

    TCB

I personally like that idea, @volvo240thebest. I don't have pockets made from either of those materials yet, so I'd enjoy having both.

    TCB

Depending on how the fit turns out, I'm probably in on this too. Very exciting!
