@DavidThoreau I’ll give my two cents on this (which no one asked for :))

I think I might know the reason. LVC aren’t really accurate repro - the 47 you mention are slimmed down materially. The 54 and 66 have pretty aggressive tapers. The most stark example of this are my LVC 47 next to my SC 47 - it’s hard to believe they’re repro’ing the same jean. All this means that when compared to similar models of Japanese makers, who consider fit as equally important as whether a jean uses period correct rivets, actuates etc, LVC tend to fit how you’ve described above.

It may be worth looking at some of the modified Japanese jeans as opposed to straight repro to get the best of both worlds for you - TCB often do slimmed down versions of their cuts and Warehouse do slimmer jeans. You probably know all this anyway!

I agree with your 2 cents. Make sense.

What I'm trying to say is, butt fit might be overlook sometime in the denim community, and when I get ask, I can't lie, I always tell LVC fit great (better) in that area.

  2. I know Japanese brands are better quality than LVC, but I just love how Levis Jeans fit (at least on me).

My 2 best fitting jeans are LVC (absolute number one being the 1947). I love my japanese jeans too, but they never nail the fit as Levis does, especialy in the butt area.

Japanese jeans tend to look "flat" (flat butt, flat thigh etc.) The Levis gets more "in shape" around the body/legs (if that makes sense), resulting in a better, more sexy silhouette.

For those with the slim fit fatigue pants, which jeans (orSlow or otherwise) have the most similar cut?  I got a pair of the fatigue pants (size 2, don't use the additional waist buttons) from Withered Fig a few months ago, and the cut is just perfect.  I guess I could whip out the measuring tape, but I thought I'd ask first.

I know I'm late, but to me the Fatigue slim in size 2 (I also have it) is closer to the 105 in size 1 (except the 105 is a tad larger in the leg opening).

The problem with the 107 (if you compare it to the fatigue) is the inseam. Way too long, resulting in a big taper. And if you go 107 size 1, it will just be too slim.

105 has a shorter inseam than 107 in general.

  4. Orslow runs quite big usually.

I started with size 3 in all of their bottoms (Fatigue, 107, 105), later sold everything to buy size 2.

And now I'm staying with size 2 in the Fatigue Pants, but got down to size 1 for the 105 (and I'm a true 32/33 waist)

The thing is, Orslow Denim stretch like crazy (+ they have long inseams), size 1 is the perfect inseam and stretch to fit within hours/days. (just got the 105 2years wash and really liking it)

can you share the measurements before and after the soak?  by big measure

I did not take measurements before (because there's no point imo)

But here are the measurements after (size L - 42)

It is really boxy, I would call it vintage fit (kind of baggy arms)

So it's pretty confortable and you can layer effortlessly (I'm 5'11 - 170lbs, with a big chest)

  6. Just received my 501 1947 and my Type 2 jacket from LVC.

They are both made in Japan.

Good news, as my 1954 from 2 years ago is made in Turkey.

Edit : my type 2 shrank like a mo'f*cker. It fits so good now.

You can’t go far wrong with Warehouse denim - their jeans and jackets are excellent

The Warehouse type 2 is sold out litteraly everywhere.

I emailed the guys at Warehouse (on their website) and they said "no idea when it's gonna be in stock again".

So I pulled the trigger on the LVC type 2, as it is now heavily discounted (259 instead of 370), and as I know the LVC is the "regular boxy" cut.

But I still want a Warehouse when it's available haha

  8. I don't know where to post this but I'm looking for a type 2 jacket.

Already got the TCB (with the new, less slim cut), but I want to get a new one, with red tab, with a more classic, looser cut. (this new cut on the TCB is still a bit too slim for me).

So I'm hesitating between the Warehouse, the Fullcount, and the Sugar Cane (no red tab on this one, but the jacket looks really dope)

Any thoughts ? Saw the Warehouse one on this thread and have to say, it looks awesome.

  9. I just gave another chance to the 710, and just received a new upsized 710.

Previously I had a 33/30, which was too tight and too short for my liking (page 63 on this thread), and now I got a 33/32, which is a (big) upsize even though it's the same size, because I lost 10 kilos since the last time.

And let me just tell you that after only an afternoon of wearing it, it has already become my favorite pair of jeans ! I'm totally in love with it.

    It's absolutely perfect.

The fit is top notch (I got skinny legs now so it looks perfect to me), the lenght is perfect (I wear it high on the waist with a small cuff). It basically ended up EXACTLY how I expected and wanted it. Freakin awesome pair of jeans and I'm not exagerating. Even my butt looks good in it. The fabric broke down quite fast which is a good point considering how stiff it was.

I might post a fitpic tomorrow.

Weight gain through co-pregnancy is real!

Back in my size 36 for a bit more relaxed fit.

I think theses look perfect. The 710, to me (and I think to Hayashi) must be a relaxed fit. Yes it's kind of slim, but you can have a slim and relaxed fit. That's the point of the 710 imo.

Why the 710 look so good on asian bodies and so slim on caucasian's ? Because as Hayashi said, it's 2 completely different body types. If you listen to Hayashi's advice for sizing, he said "take it snug because it will gain an inch", yes, but that's for an asian body. For a caucasian body I definitly think you should size up.

It looks good on asian bodies because they (usually) are skinny around the waist, the thigh, the butt and the legs (compare to us, caucasians). The result of that is some room left around the thigh and orevall around the legs, which gives it a delicious relaxed and vintage vibe, almost to a bootcut-vintage type of vibe.

Of course, having a small waist will reinforce that, genetic is a thing, we all know that. But even with a larger waist you can get this type of vibe while sizing up and wearing it high on the waist.

  11. Yeah I definitly might try a 34 as this jeans are giving me a good vibe and I want them to work/give them another chance. But as for now I much prefer my orslows and my LVC 54 (about to order the 84 btw).

711 seems like a good option but the lower rise is tricky. Dunno how I feel about that. Guess I'll have to go to Paris to try. To be honest, I even feel a bit bad about the Co2 emissions my order from Japan garnered (Japan -> Paris -> south of France).

Overall, the slim thighs and knees might not be a problem on an asian build if you're slimmer all the way. Then it looks harmonious with good proportions. But in my case, I'm rather big on the upper body (I'm a size L) and the slim above knee area from the jeans makes it a weird transition, at least with my build. It's a problem I've been dealing with since my APC's.

I checked Frans Boone (and other shops) earlier, but Resolute seems sold out. I have to say ChamberTokyo was a nice shopping experience though, item dispatch 2 hours after my order and shipping for free.

  12. I just received my 710 directly from Japan (chamberTokyo.com) without using VPN, and without having to pay taxes (thanks god) even though they put the real price on the package (22 000 Y).

Was supposed to take 8 days to arrive, but it took 14 days (because Covid and because christmas season) as it got stuck an entire week in Paris airport.

Took a 33W30L because I wanted the short "Hayashi" type of lenght (I'm 5'10 - 165lbs). The lenght is fine (I think I should have went with a 31L though), but the problem is around the thighs and knees. It's too slim for my liking. Below the knee is dope (vintage type of cut, almost bootcut, which I dig a lot), above the knee is too slim. Actually It's so slim that when I put my phone and my wallet in the front pockets, it looks weird.

I might order a 34W31L, or just move on to another model. The thing is, it looks dope on pictures (especially the front), but IRL it looks way slimmer  especially on the 3/4 view and on the sides. I got skinny legs and I don't usually like to show it, that's why I prefer some thigh and knee room.

Fabric is dope and does stretch around the waist, even after 10 minutes.

Hope this helps people my size and build to figure out the thing.

Thanks for posting that! I was waiting for that discount but somehow Cultizm doesn't notify their German customers when those codes are valid. Only several days later and sometimes with even less % off...

    You're welcome.

Funnily I never even bought anything on Cultizm lol. I just subscribed to their newsletter.

    Which webshop was this?

    Thanks for the clarification guys.

From what I remember it was on 2 websites : Royalcheese (french webshop) and Cultizm.

Sadly the cone mills version are now sold out on both websites.

2 days ago, RoyalCheese had something like 29 and 30 waist size, and Cultizm had 31 waist size (those probably sold out yesterday as Cultizm offers a 20% discount for Halloween since yesterday).

SecondSunrise is still offering both version though

28 and 29 size still available in Made in USA Cone Mills version:

    https://secondsunrise.se/collections/levis-vintage-clothing/products/copy-of-lvc-1954-501xx-jeans-rigid

While plenty of sizes are available in the new V2 version (made in Bulgaria):

    https://secondsunrise.se/collections/levis-vintage-clothing/products/lvc-1954-501xx-jeans-rigid

  15. I'm asking because I saw a webshop selling both the 1954 cone fabric and the new 1954 japanese fabric (V2), both rigids, and the cone one is specified "shrink to fit" in the description, while the V2 isn't.

    Weird.

  16. Yo everyone !

I was looking for the perfect bombers for months and i finally found it. I wanted the perfect classic bombers with a modern and slim touch, so i copped the Sandro Blackmoon one, and it's awesome. Its the purest minimalist one. bought it 365 euros tough...
