  1. I have been drooling over this Levi's M-35 shirt and was wondering what everyone's take is on it. Read up above Levi's didn't make any military denim. Was this perhaps just a sample? or made as part of bidding on a military contract?

  2. That type 1 is looking really good man. How old is it? Those are some interesting fade lines on the sleeves, what's causing those? Don't think I've seen that before.

I actually just bought a brand new pair of LVC 1954 501z and have noticed it has some creases similar to that as well The have not come out with a hot soak/dryer treatment. Now they are setting in and fading at the crease line. They are not in an area where the jeans were folded or anything. My only thought is that machinery during sewing formed deep creases, or it was something that was done to the fabric before they were turned into a pair of pants. The main one is a crease about 15 inches long in the very front at the bottom of the leg right up my shin and then the crease abruptly stops below my knee.

  3. Can't compare them to the current model, but compared to my other pairs of recently made LVC 501s, construction is bit better, and denim is much better.  Tight weave and very dark, hard wearing indigo.  I imagine they're similar to SDA in that respect.  After four months of being worn two or three days a week, there's only the slightest hint of some wear.  I really like the cut, and if they were about a half inch bigger in the area from the tops of the front pockets on up, I'd be wearing them every day.

IDK if it's any help for you but when I need to stetch out a waist,or am afraid after shrinking that the waist will be too small I wrap a towel around my waist before I pull up my pants and wear them wet until they dry and they tend to come out great for me. I actually end up sizing down my waist on LVC every time and it stretches out to roomy while everything else shrinks.

Anyways, that's my two cents if it helps.

  4. Anyone have any experience with the LVC made in Turkey type 2 jacket? I have an USA made LVC type 2 and the reason I love it is the sleeves are not too baggy like the type 3's tend to be. But this made in Turkey type 2 has sleeves that seem to be quite baggy. Anyone know if this is how most of the other Turkey made type 2's are?

Sugar Cane, Type II. Worn it for about a year, I think? If my house was on fire and I could only grab one item of clothing...

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I've bought 5 or 6 denim jackets this year and only one I wear is my LVC type II. On the type 3's the sleeves are just too baggy. As far as type I, II, III the fit on these are the nicest, and I love the pleats, rectangle pleat tacks, and the silver buttons.

  6. I think you might be a bit obsessed here. FWIW I don't think it's a fake, it just shows what happens when you outsource production of your "Brand" to so many different third party manufacturers, you get inconsistencies.

Unless you paid a bazillion bucks for it I wouldn't worry about it, not to mention putting the exact same post in two different threads.

I'm on a blog for pants. Just that qualifies me as obsessed.

I've found there is little info out there for Levi's Jackets. I mean the best source is some 1997 GeoCities looking website(which is actually a great, informative site.) But sometimes I'd kind of like to compile some better info. If not anywhere but in my head.

dude, we're on a blog for pants.

i'm not gonna speak for everyone else, but yes I'm obsessed.

and really I'm just trying to learn things about things I don't know/understand.

  8. I'm a bit puzzled here so I am reaching out. I bought an LVC Type 3 1967 jacket off eBay. The seller is not new, has lots of sales (almost 100% positive feedback) and no claims of counterfeit products. After I got the jacket I became curious about a couple of things. Everything I describe should be visible in the photos.

    • The red tab is much wider than any other red tab I've ever owned
    • This 1967 red tab is only 1 sided
    • The white tag sewn on the inside of the waist says Levi's, (not LVC and without the silver thread I have known on my other LVC products.)
    • When I emailed LVC directly about #3 (with the photos of both sides of the white tag) they responded saying "this would not be an LVC product based on the tag."

    These are my thoughts/rationalizations:

    • I thought maybe someone in the factory made a mistake and cut & sewed it on too wide.
    • Perhaps this was a mistake of the last "LEVI's" printed on that ribbon of red tabs. Like when you print a piece of paper, there is a margin, perhaps I got the last "LEVI'S" and then the other side is just the margin?
    • I did some searching about "the Levi's tag on LVC products" and read that some LVC products made for sale in Levi's stores (most likely in 2007-2008) had been made with Levi's tags. This jacket came with a mini pamphlet saying Fall 2007. Maybe that fits, if that info is indeed correct. See link at bottom under EXTRA INFO.
    • Maybe some newbie over at LVC just saw the picture I sent and said, "well it says Levi's not LVC" so..."it's not LVC based on the tag."

I am wondering if anyone can help me find out if the things I've noticed are just mistakes, hopefully rare ones that just came together nicely on my jacket? Or is this a dreaded counterfeit jacket? I really would appreciate any help/leads/new ideas anyone could contribute. And a preemptive thank you for the time anyone spends helping me on this.

  9. The sizing tag on my LVC type 3 bought in 2008 has a numerical size ie 36 and not 'small.' Yours could be a fake..

I know that newer versions of LVC jackets have changed to Small, Medium, Large, etc instead of 36, 38, 30, etc. Does anyone know when this changed?

  10. Im a bit curious about the "...without the silver thread I have known on my other LVC products" comment. I'm by no means an LVC expert but i'm quite confident my 1947 501XX are authentic since I bought them at Union Square SF location in 2011. Still, I can't find some kind of silver thread anywhere on the tags. Where exactly is this silver thread typically found...?

See the line of silver thread on the edges? its only on LVC products that have those type of tags. I'm trying to determine, but I believe not all LVC products have these type of tags.
