  1. I visited 2 out of the 3 remaining Evisu shops In July. Daikanyama (Tokyo) store had a lot of light weight and light coloured jeans some were like chambray. No decent sizes In anything else.

The Chinese tourists are buying everything, the stores are having to wait quite a while for more stock.

The Shinsaibashi (Osaka) shop Is tiny now, I was so lucky that I actually got what I wanted, the 16oz no.1 Special Gatagata with tiger selvedge. Interestingly, they are sans red tab, when I mentioned It the old Levis Issue was brought up, are Evisu dropping the tab, or do I have a sample pair. I don't know but they are great pair of jeans.

What I can say Is that getting Evisu In the models and sizes that you want Is pure luck.

    Jungle Cloth?

Anyone have experience with this? I am intrigued.

Apologies if I should post in SelfEdge?

“Jungle cloth is a very durable fabric that far outlasts any khaki (fabric, not color) on the market, also due to it's gros-grain weave the fabric is weatherproof and extremely soft on one side, the inside of the pant. The inside feels like pressed cashmere while the outside is a smooth and slick canvas so any dirt or contaminants are easily brushed off.”

My BuzzRickson's x SugarCane Peacoat Is made from the jungle cloth. Without finding my catalogue from that year I believe It talks about contraband Indigo Items at the time but servicemen were using them because It was easier to keep clean and did not show up stains as much etc. It notes that the fabric Is good for keeping out the wind chill.

  3. That Peacoat looks great, I noticed that Its a longer version too. I own a Buzz Rickson's x Sugar Cane Indigo dyed Peacoat that I bought In Tokyo 4 years ago. I can honestly say that It Is one of the best coats that I have ever purchased, Its very warm.

Personally I think that Peacoat looks fantastic, I would buy It If I was looking for another.

Thanks for that, any other input is welcomed.

The 17oz denim Is great, I love mine!

I actually prefer the 2000T cut on the models that do It, I have both no.2 and Cimosa Indaco In 2000T and I'm happy with the slimmer tapered fit. If you want something uneven and slubby/rough then check out the Petero and GataGata models, I have both and also like them a lot. The Petero comes In 2 weights one being 18oz but just a heads up the Petero denim takes time to fade. Again be wary of the leg lengths though!

I'm happy with every pair of Japanese bought Evisu that I have, you can't go wrong with any model providing that you like the fit. I always go custom paint but If It bothers you get plain pockets. The 17oz no.1 denim Is top notch In my opinion, I went raw but the lighter weight Tiger Is also available In pre-shrunk.

good to know other samurai t-shirts are not as heavy as this

My other t-shirts from them are also quite heavy, not like regular brands. However, this particular design Is on a very heavy t.

Picked up a Samurai t-shirt. It is awesome. Thickest and densest t-shirt I own. Mostly normal print, but then the tiger is like an iron on print made of felt(ish) material. Fit is a bit wider than i'd like, but good enough.

I would definitely pick up another Samurai t-shirt in future. I don't like probably 99% of their designs. Lot of their designs are way over the top

I bought the same t-shirt a few years ago but mine Is a salmon colour. The print Is amazing and yes its very heavy. I have other Sammie T's but not as heavy as this, Its like wearing 2 t-shirts!

What size so you wear in the strike gold 3109? I have a size 36 3105... Do you have a fit pic of your 17oz evisu?

I really should check on here more often...Its just that I have other hobbies that distract me.

My SG are size 31 but Its best to be cautious with some of the models, I tried on a pair of the really slubby denim (can't remember the model no) In Jeans Street and they were tight as hell, I was In a rush so I left It but I would have maybe needed a 33. My 3109 fit great In 31, will try dig out a fit pick and take one of the 17oz when I get chance.

Also, I met the director of SG when I happened to be wearing my 3109 once, we took pictures together. He does not speak English but his assistant did, nice guy though, really genuine and friendly!

sorry. can anybody give me measurements of 710xx 19oz? (thigh, waist and Front rise.

    with the measurement of denimio

). size 31 or 32. i need to know after soaking and wear. how much they stretch ^^ thank you, help me

I've just measured a pair that I have, I purchased them from the Samurai head store, Osaka In 2015. They are stiil tagged and unworn so no stretch. Size Is 31.

Waist (measured laid flat along the back with natural dip at the front) = 15.5" So bang on 31 as tagged!

    Front rise 11"

Thigh (measured directly under crotch) 12.25"

So the measurements appear to be similar to a 32 apart from the waist. At least now you have measurements for a worn 32 and an unworn 31.

Wow, the denimio measurements show the waist at 33.5 raw and thigh at 12.2 inches. Either those measurements are way off or there is some serious sizing inconsistencies...Either way, this looks like a baggy fit...

It depends on where they measure the thigh, which Is why I took 2 measurements. They are not too baggy, I was able to try on a pair that were already washed so I had an Idea how to size. After washing and painting these were an expensive pair so I was not taking any chances.

Maybe consider the 15oz slim cut. Alternatively, If you want a good pair of 17oz denim then look at The Strike Gold. I have the SG3109 and Its one of my favourite pairs of jeans. They have quite a few different models In slim to very slim cuts. My advice, don't buy the Evisu If you are unsure, I buy nearly all of my jeans In Japan so I get to try them first. Don't make an expensive mistake.

  10. OK, I finally had time to measure my 17oz Lot 2000.

They are tagged 34x32. As previously stated the store washed them before painting so I have no Information about the pre-measurements. I was accurate with my measurements, I checked everything twice and the jeans are still unworn apart from trying them on. I also measured the thigh In 2 seperate locations to give a better Idea of the fit.

WAIST (measured flat along the back with natural dip at the front). 29.5"    YIKES!!!

    FRONT RISE 10.5"

    BACK RISE 13.5"

THIGH (measured directly below crotch seam) 12.75"

THIGH (measured 2" below crotch seam) 12"

KNEE (measured 13" down from crotch seam) 9.25"

    HEM 7.75"

    INSIDE LEG 31"

So there It Is, the waist shrank a lot. I've tried them on again and overall they fit well, the waist Is tight but once It stretches I will be happy. I'm probably going to wash them again then begin wearing them In around 2 weeks time. Give my current Petero a break.

Have you done a shrink test on the 17oz? If so, can you post pre and post soak measurements? The evisu.jp website says that this denim shrinks 3 inches on the waist and much more in the inseam so curious how accurate that is...

When I get chance I will post details, I can't do pre measurements because the jeans were laundered by the store In preparation for my custom painted Kamomes. I went for a tagged 34 and they have actually shrunk to around a 30!

Will do some acurate measurements soon and let you know.

2000T perhaps, its been out a while and there is a version that has been dyed using Natural Indigo, maybe its that one as the others have the usual red/tiger selvage.

Could be. I was preoccupied with acquiring the 17oz but the guy showing me them did mention that they were a slim cut and I checked the selvedge myself out of Interest and noticed that It was white.

Thanks. Does anyone here have experience with the 17 oz denim? I tried the 14.5 oz denim and they were way too baggy. The measurements on the 17 oz suggest a much better fit.

From memory they are not too baggy, I actually prefer a slimmer fit on my jeans. I tried on a 31 and It was a decent fit on the thighs but the waist was a little too small, allowing for shrinkage I would have liked a 34 with stretch factored In. Normally I buy a 31 In most brands and factor In stretch but the waist on these appears to be smaller than tag on some sizes. That's Evisu though, I really wish they would offer a slimmer leg cut on certain models.

I understand why you are apprehensive, they are not exactly a cheap pair of jeans so you want them right. I won't be back there until a few months from now but I'm hoping to get some. At this price though I won't buy them unless I'm happy enough with the fit and the waist Is a concern, I don't think that these will stretch too much In the waistband so I probably won't risk a 33.

Can anyone help? I really want a pair of No. 1 specials in my life but am concerned about buying a pair that I am unable to try on, especially for a brand with so much shrinkage. Are the Denimio measurements generally accurate? The Evisu website says that the 17 oz denim shrinks 8cm in the waist and 10 cm in the inseam, that's over 3 inches! Is that really possible? I normally wear size 36 but it looks like I may have to get a size 40 to account for over 3 inches of shrinkage for this model?

Its a late reply but I don't come on here often.

Staff will tell you to size up 2 for those 17oz Tiger jeans, I tried to get the right size last year In both Tokyo and Osaka but the stock was low for those In the 3 stores that I visited. As already stated sizing up 2 then allowing for a little stretch should be fine. I ended up buying the Petero denim which I love but I'm going to look for the 17oz tiger again this year when I return.

2 sizes should be fine, 4 sizes would be way excessive In my opinion. Hope that helps.

  15. Going to Tokyo in a week. Where is the best place to look at Samurai? Any place have Japan exclusive stuff. Looking to pick up a real mccoy's m65 and some samurai or rjb denim.

A shop In Ueno stocks Samurai, just walk down past Hinoya, Its one of those shops further down. I can't remember the shop name but the Samurai stuff Is upstairs.

As for exclusive stuff, Its either going to be In any brands own stores or a collaboration between a store and a brand.

  16. I'm interested in making my own leather belt and I'll be buying the leather and all the supplies from Tandy. I'm wondering about the dye and if I should even dye it. Can you guys help me find some examples of what no dye would look like once worn in? Thanks

Hello, I'm new to here hence the late reply but I can help you.

Look for natural vegetable tanned belts/goods etc. I would describe the colour as manila. This Is the natural colour of the leather hide after It has been tanned and buffed to a smooth finish. This will develop Its own patina over time and darken In colour, you often see leather goods sold like this without any other colour applied. It will not be hard to find examples online.

I would advise against dying If you are Inexperienced but If you must then I can give you advice If needed.

    Hope this helps.
