don't even want to know how much it cost to produce this collection

an absolute masterwork, better even than Raf this season. Who else could design a futurist Renaissance rave culture and make me want to wear it?

The weirdest part about it is how commercial all of this seems. It all seems very well made, but none of it is particularly challenging. Embellished basics. Perhaps that's what happens when you give the keys to someone who doesn't know anything about how to cut clothes.
He did not give the keys to the atelier to Sterling. All of the shapes are cut by Raf and his team, with Sterling bringing the imagination to the blank canvas of Raf's work. The 'New Shape', structured items of tunic length, that Raf focused on for SS14 was everywhere, emblazoned with Sterling's graphics. What more could you expect? Him to morph one of his installations into a jacket? He cannot cut clothes and Raf is not an artist. That is the whole point. I think what you were expecting from the collection is impossible. It is more a partnership than a collaboration.

Is there anyway a designer/company could produce fashion at the prices of zara and H&M, not necessarily as fast, ethically? Paying it's workers a living wage in all factories and/or setting up centres they could use while being employed by the company?

finally found some yang li admirers like me... the materials he makes his clothes out of are so good, not much left to say for the finish though

The super-skinny silhouettes look a bit tired, tbh, and he always reissues what he did for the last collection, with slight alterations to fit the theme or 'trend'.
I can bet that the next collection (and many after) will have a theme that a biker jacket will work within. There seems to be no actual creative development or change, just financial development which don't get me wrong is great but...
I liked that he has reopened the atelier though, the fit of everything seems to be much better.
