Steffen has a few photos of his belt at:
He suffers from an acute addiction to Duck, and was very jealous of Morten's Barge Canvas jacket.

Yeah, I got that belt for Steffen about a year ago. It's looking good with all the wear, and has certainly darkened up a lot since I last saw it in January.

I'd be inclined to allow all cotton based fabrics that have a workwear heritage in, so:
- Denim
- Duck
- Chambray
- Herringbone
- Hickory
- Wabash
Denim, Wabash and Hickory are twill weaves, but differ from how they're dyed. Duck and Chambray are plain weaves. And Herringbone has, err, a herringbone weave.
Chambray would also be a useful option for those of us in warmer climes. I'm now in Melbourne, possibly heading up to Sydney in a few weeks, and wearing a heavy denim shirt or jacket in the summer isn't going to be a fun pastime!

Looks very nice. Glad to hear that you're happy.

I think that the watch has been my daily wear for about six months now. The strap started out natural, so it used to look like this.
I've heard that the average lifespan of a leather strap is around a year. The Tender version feels pretty solid, and I think that it should last a bit longer.
Still, I can always get a spare off Will...

Thanks Will. I wouldn't complain about another run of the Blackouts as mine are now a size too big, and getting a bit tatty. The Denim Doctor has done some patching of the internals to keep them decent.
Since I missed it yesterday, here's my pink shirt. It's faded down a bit from when I got it. The colour might even end up as subtle at some point!

The jeans aren't overdyed. The denim started off a very blue, almost black, and it didn't fade for a long time.
The stitching is tonal, in dark blue.
Yeah, I like how the yoke has printed through the pockets too.

An update on my Tender collection. I need to get some photos up of the pink shirt too. This is my watch. The strap has darkened up with wear, whilst the back of it has picked up sun cream from my wrist!
I've got a customised Tender belt that William dropped into a vat of logwood dye. Some of it is starting to rub off, but it's not been as dramatic an effect as I'd hoped for.
These are a pair of Type 130 "Blackouts" done for Tenue De Nimes a few years back. I've worn them a lot, and washed them regularly. The pictures show the colour a bit darker than they are. The picture of the pockets is probably closest to the actual shade.

Glad to help.
I like this one.

But the wearable vests are crazy!

There was an article on Herz Bags at Carryology a while back.

Along with a review of one of their pouches.

I haven't seen their stuff up close, but it looks nice. If you go for one then I'll be interested to hear what you think.

Tush wallet via my friends at No Kipple, used for about six months. The lanyard is from North Sea Clothing.

I've just found this thread, and was interested in William's comments about his grandma's old tortoiseshell frames. The trade in this was banned by the CITES treaty in 1973. A few companies have stockpiles that they acquired before this date. Maison Bonnet still produce bespoke frames using tortoiseshell, and I'd love to have a look around their operation.
This pair, which I found in Amsterdam at Fred Stoeltie a few weeks ago has a shell facing on a buffalo horn frame.
William's pair might still be usable with a bit of light refurbishment. If horn is cared for then it will pretty much last forever. I suspect shell is the same.
The Eyewear Concierge in London has a few pairs of refurbished, new old stock vintage horn frames. I'm very tempted by this 1980s pair that I believe were made in Japan.

This is a Tunisian made Levi's black denim jacket. Nothing special.
I bought it sometime in the early nineties, and wore it regularly until somewhere around 2000. After that, I put on weight and since it no longer fitted me, I passed it onto my brother, who abused it for another few years. He moved to LA eight years ago, and left a load of stuff in storage, which I'm just sorting it out for him. I stumbled across it again last night...

I went to visit a friend in Germany last week, who had been giving me trouble about my rather pink Tender shirt. Anyway, he underwent a Damascene conversion, and was last heard muttering something about bothering Will to get one...
Here are a couple of photos. He's about the same size as me, so I had to keep a close eye on it.

I'm also a fan of the denim pyjamas. Shame that they're not cut for those of us with long legs though. (The Hickoree's page says a 31" inseam...)

The last fortnight has involved a Tender shopping spree. It's a good thing that the Trestle Shop and Tender Stores are on a short break.
It started off quite innocently. I saw a Cochineal dyed shirt on the Tender Stores. It wasn't picked up by any UK stores as far as I know, and he had a mutant one that happened to be my size...
Along with a tin of their tallow leather dressing, which is definitely not vegetarian friendly.
Last weekend I went down to Brighton, and caught the Peggs and Son sale. They had a pair of Tender Type 138 belt back jeans going cheap, and I couldn't resist.
Then I ran across the Fable and Folly sale, at which point it went horribly wrong...
They ship their goods in very nice packaging.
I picked up a belt for a German friend - I'll be seeing him this weekend, and it saved him a chunk of change on postage.
A very fine wool flannel scarf.
An oh-so-cute bear. Unfortunately these are not child friendly, or I'd have picked them up for my nephews.
And one of the Tender watches. I'm was really impressed with the quality of this, as it felt up there with some things that cost an awful lot more.

I took advantage of Megatron's drunken discount on Monday to acquire a Tush wallet.
It's a beautifully made piece, and things like Red Moon look shoddy in comparison. I also suspect that it'd survive anything that I could throw at it.
The downside is that it's enormous. My tatty old wallet is about two thirds of the size.

I'd just like to thank Junior for modelling pinnies for me today. As a result I picked up a very nice Dawson Denim apron, which someone is getting as a present.
Kelly and Scott make fine denim goods, and are lovely people too.1 -
Danny's found a new use for one of the Wes Lang blankets!

Rodeobill thought that dropping a loops belt into a vat of logwood dye would be an interesting experiment, so I put an order in through the Tender Stores on Friday, and this turned up today.
I love the packaging that was used.
The jeans, above, are a pair of unborn Type 130s that were done as a special run for Tenue de Nimes a couple of years back. I believe that they're the Blackout style. They've got stealth stitching that's starting to show up now they're fading, and it's taken a fair amount of wear and washing to get them to give up their indigo...The belt is a few shades darker than I expected, but it'll be interesting to see how it evolves. I guess it's going to shed some dye, and the smooth back will fade more than the rough-out face.4 -
Youthxattak, Indigo looks very cute. Congratulations.
William, the Tastemakers pop-up looks great. Glad it was a success.

Science is fun!

I'm wondering how a loops buckle belt would come out if it was accidentally dropped into a vat of logwood...
The dyed wallets, which I think use the same leather, look rather nice.

I was involved in Viking re-enactment in the late nineties, and had a nice pair of boots made up by Mark Beabey, who used to work out of the Royal Armouries in Leeds making period footwear. They disappeared fifteen or twenty years ago, and I wasn't sure what happened to them, until I unearthed them in my father's attic!
Unfortunately they'd suffered neglect. The leather had dried out, and there was mould on the uppers.
Fortunately I have a tin of Tender boot grease!
And this is what they look like now.
It looks like it's good for the Dark Ages as well as the Age of Steam!
As a bonus, I put a coat of the boot grease on my Iron Heart IHB-04 belt, which is coming along nicely.
