  1. Hoped to have gone to Stone Island tonight in London to chat with Errolson - I think I knew before he did that he was meant to be there!!

Annoyingly though I could not get the time off work, as I am working the night shift, all work an no play eh?

Still, I am intrigued by the comment:

Would also like some clarification - go on, do tell !

Intrigued also at the new materials being used on the 3rd Arm line, the leather(or-so-it-appears) looks interesting but I do love that chrome job 3A-1 total non stealth which I really like, flipping the concept on it's head as such.

That's not leather and not 'new' 3rd Arm ;)

Those bags are (very) old limonta versions, back in tha days when they used that version it didn't develop a patina but wore off to a more leather-looking shine fabric.

  7. Well define 'old', it has been the same for the last 4 years now.

In those 4 years the price went up and down.

0809 was the real old kr-sm1 with lightning graphic and bigger scarf, it was also the cheapest. 0910 was the redesign with the new print on the pouch and smaller more compact scarf. Since then it has been the same but the price went up in 1011 and again in 1112, down in 1213 and up again in 1314.

  8. FW1314 J25 should be 3XDry WB-400.

    FW1213 J25 was 3XDry WB-400 + Energear (that made it more expensive).

The FW1314 version also has L+R holster pocket and watch zip on sleeve. Also looks more black than blueish black of the fw1213 version.

End's discription is wrong, but that isn't the first time...

  9. If I was doing the tour these cities would be on the hit list Antwerpen, Brugge, den Bosch, Tilburg, Arnhem,Leiden, Haarlem Beemster and Zaanse Schans.

Although I am there daily Amsterdam isn't relaxed to visit on 1 day, you'll need a couple. Come back for that.

Brussels and Rotterdam are dreary cities in Autumn, No fun at all. Tilburg is an odd one out here but I included it for it's often overlooked textile museum and as you are asking this on a fashion forum,I had to sneak that one in.

The beemster and zaanse schans are my knack of the woods ,I can give you a nice tour on paper or in person.

LMK if you need more help

As for the beer and fries, shouldn't that be bier und currywurst ??

I would do Antwerpen, Brugge, Den-Bosch, Eindhoven, Utrecht, Haarlem and/or Amsterdam.

Big advantage...everything in the Netherlands is at a reasonable distance so you can choose many cities in a week or less cities but spend more time there. From one side of NL to the other you could literally do it in 3 hours by car.

  10. a little bit like the j32-gt but with an asymmetric pocket/pouch on the chest

any feedback about the fast hood from j27 users?

Rarely use it, mine is almost always in hood mode never in collar mode.

Just easier that way. But then again, I never use my gravity pockets also or other features. My most and probably only used feature is the jacket sling lol.

  11. I see your point, some of 3rd Arm pieces do make use of existing or co-developed Bagjack systems but not all. Some like the 3A-1, 3A-12TS, the tote bag etc. are ACR pieces with no Bagjack equivalent. Btw. the solar panel is by a company called Solarc.

I guess if you look at it purely at a functional level, then pretty much all bags will do the same thing really and price-wise there are plenty out there with similar features for less money than either Acronym or Bagjack. Unless you consider style a function that is.

Indeed, they don't have an equivalent for al form-factors. And the 3A-1 especially is an amazing bag which combines, in my opinion, the perfect size with as much storage space as possible. The perfect everyday ''messenger''.

I do think that style is somewhat of a function. You can walk around with a great bag but to be honest if it looks shit then I'd rather go with a less functional bag that looks far better. Off course that only goes for everyday life, in specific environments like mountain climbing, hiking etc. I couldn't care less even if it was bright pink with purple dots as long as it is highly functional for the job.

  12. Nope, to be fair, 3rd Arm == Acronym x Bagjack, designed by Acronym, manufactured by Bagjack.

Acronym adaptations of Bagjack designs/systems like the Circdiscover and QLQRÆ  are properly credited:

    3A-11TS

Based on BAGJACKs incredibly engineered CIRCDISCOVER system, the 3A-11TS is a variable position handsfree iPad INTEROPSæ case

    QLQRÆ

Quick Lock Quick Release. ACRONYM® THIRD ARM sub-system for rapid adjustment

of web support straps. Developed in conjunction with BAGJACK®, Berlin.

And the white innerbag is Bagjack, the extra inside pocket is bagjack, the stabilizer pad is bagjack, the 5TS is a bagjack format, the 7TS is a bagjack format, the laptop sleeves are bagjack, the solar panel is bagjack....

I'm not saying they don't work together or don't give credits etc. Hell, they clearly do a collaborative effort and it's off course hard to say who ''came up'' with some of the features originally. It doesn't matter also.

But if you look purely at a functional level then price-wise you would be better off buying a plain bagjack as 80% of the bag is the same.

  13. Rook question and I know it's apples & oranges, but does anyone have feedback on Bagjack vs. ACR construction/products? I keep grabbing for my wallet when someone posts up there 3A, catching myself and then reminded of bagjack.

    Any info's appreciated.

3rd Arm == Bagjack to be fair.

They use the basic bagjack designs but with different fabric, zippers, clips. And everything is produced by bagjack also. So it's just a choice if you want the aesthatics or not and if you are willing to pay for it.

  14. Yeah, I tried the ACR site on my mac and it worked flawlessly, I guess it just didnt want to work on my mobile.

I know I will have to eat the cost of shipping it out but does ACR charge for repairs? If so, around how much am I looking at for a zipper repair? I've emailed them several times but I still haven't received a reply.

It depends, if it is a zipper issue they will put it trough to YKK (if fabric then to Gore) and it will get repaired without costs (just shipping). But it needs to be a fabrication fault. If it's user-abuse then I don't know.

  15. Info on ACR repair service?  My 3A-3TS' zipper broke :(

Backjag should have no problem with that.

I asked them once to modify my old 3A-5TS with the features of the new versions (stabilizer stand, handle etc.) and it was no problem.

Just had to drop it by and they would fix it in a day or 2

The repair website is working normally here by the way....

  16. I don't have pictures right now but will tell you the story.

My friend had a 3A-1 in X-pac (first batch), within 6 months of daily use a couple of the corners had holes in them. The fabric was just worn through.

In my other post I also said Epic, my bad I meant Stotz Etaproof. My S-J4 had considerable wear at area's with friction, the fabric was becoming extremely thin (see-through thin). And the S-J11 of a friend had a hole near the shoulder were a seam ripped and 2 holes near the gravity pockets were the fabric had ripped. Also considerable wear on friction area's. All within 1 year of daily use.

I've also seen 2 jackets with zipper defaults, one where the zipper itself broke and one where the stiching of the zipper ripped. All in the same season though so could have been a bad batch.

I'm not saying the quality is shit or anything, but you can't expect a jacket (certainly the stotz) to last a lifetime.

Which is perfectly normal, for a lifetime jacket you should use some super teflon thread for you stiching etc.

Defects just happen, even with acronym ;)

  17. On my phone now so excuse the short post, I agree with your post when it comes down to it we're not far from each other.

I enjoy paying extra for Acronym to fund Errolson and Michaela. They are good and nice people and put a great amount of effort in the brand for a very small turnover. Thats one factor I always keep in mind.

  18. To elaborate on Flipflop's point:

Is ACR some of the most well made fashion around? - Yes.

Does it fit exceptionally well? - Yes.

Does it look totally bad-ass? - Yes.

Can you get anything even remotely approaching it anywhere else? - Not really.

Made by people earning a real wage? - Not bloody likely.

    For less money? - No.

Is that level of fit, finish, looks and/or brand-ethos important to you? - You decide.

If you answer yes to that last question, you're kind of on the hook for paying the price.

What I'm guessing you're really asking is "Is it overpriced for what you get?". See above.

Sorry Thijs but I beg to differ on this.

Is ACR some of the most well made fashion around? - The X-Pac tears pretty easily, zippers are not that great, Epic rips and fades really fast etc. But it's above reasonable.

Does it fit exceptionally well? - Mwah...the last few seasons since 2009 it's really getting there (before that it was ultra baggy).

Does it look totally bad-ass? - Yes.

Can you get anything even remotely approaching it anywhere else? - SISP, Herno and Veilance.

Made by people earning a real wage? - Made in CR, in the Tilak factory so yes they do get a decent minimum wage.

For less money? - Depends on the piece, the GT-J20 for example is the Tilak Stinger....

Is that level of fit, finish, looks and/or brand-ethos important to you? - You decide.

Yes Acronym is a great brand, but sometimes we do get a little carried away and praise it a bit too much imo.

But the overall feeling that acronym gives you is worth the extra money and yup I believe it's worth it.
