  1. Yeah I kinda noticed something was going on in the TV series. I havent read the books yet but reading a few wiki pages has added a lot more depth to the story line and whole world. So yeah I think I will read them now

Yeah the show is really just the tip of the iceberg, there is so much more in the books, and they are definitely worth the read.

  2. So bran is a greenseer ?

Just found a load of stuff on a wiki, dont know why they didn't include it to develop his character.

Do you mean in the show? Because they did give Bran that dream, about "the sea coming to wash over the walls of Winterfell", and the sea represented the Theonand the Ironborn taking over Winterfell. Bran also saw Ser rodrik Cassel "drowning" in his dream, which foretold that he would be killed by the "Iron islanders".

In the book bran is a greenseer, but Jojen Reed is the one who has that dream, but because Jojen will not be in the show until next season, they gave the dream to bran. It's ok that they didn't show much about bran being a greenseer in season two, because mainly in book two bran just mainly works on developing his Warg abilities(Warging into his Direwolf summer). It's not until later in the books, that bran really becomes a "greenseer".

So you have not read the books?

  3. The only thing that slowed me down with the books was keeping up with all the lesser characters and all of the connections between the characters and houses. I ended up referring to some character index I found online.

That's why the rereads are so great. Every time you read it again, things just all come together and click more, and more. That's also why the rereads are not boring, because your always picking up new things, and just understanding things more.

  4. Definitely read the first two books, there are so many things left out in the show. Like others have said, it's not really an option. You won't be sorry, or bored by reading the first two, because there are so many things the show couldn't get in there. Also, it will only help you learn more of what you already kind of know.

  5. You're in the wrong forum we're all ignorant plebes who care more about Littlefinger's perfect haircut and Arya's distressed boots and random women's supple breasts than whatever the hell you talk about

    i could not agree more.

but considering this is not the only forum i use, now that i am here, i might as well pop in every now and again to make sure the simpletons know what they are talking about.

And I to care about "women's supple breasts" on the show. Other wise I would not talk about Emilia Clarke so much, and the falseness of her "no nudity contract". Not to mention, she is not the only character who's boobs I have talked about.

  6. ^

because of their saturation of this thread? you have 6 comments on this page alone.

So you think an actual Discussion works better if people only have one post per page?

And their are other forums dedicated to the show and books etc, and I post on those to.

I am sorry though, reading three paragraphs must be tough.

  7. I have read the books, and the inferno Martin painted in my brain, and turned the Hound craven, is nothing like what was portrayed on screen. I don't see a few flaming arrows and a couple burning men turning a killing machine into a coward. If wild fire and burning ships were washing ashore, then I'd be more inclined to believe the premise.

IMO, the acting and dialogue was flat for most of the season, most obviously to me in final two episodes.

The house of the undying scene last night deviated so wildly from the book I'm not sure why it was even included in the show. I wondered how they'd portray all the scenes she was seeing when she looked through doors to here left.... easy, leave all that shit out!

In the books there is probably ten times more fire, than the show. However, had the book had less fire, Sandor could have still "turned craven". It could be that he would have left even if there was only a fraction of that, but it just so happens that the fire was "ten times bigger than his turning point". There was more than acouple of flaming arrows too, there were hundreds of arrows, those arrows catch more things on fire, and then you have the wildfire... That's plenty enough to make Sandor want to be somewhere else. The show can only do so much to. Do you think they should have gone to HBO to ask for more money because there wasn't enough fire to scare the Hound??

I will say it again, in the books they talk about how Sandor would often be close to winning different Melee's, but then Thoros of Myr would beat Sandor, because Thoros had a flaming sword. So if a flaming sword can stop Sandor from beating Thoros, then I think all the fire shown in the show would do the trick, especially because men were on fire charging him.

Besides, Sandor didn't just leave because of the fire, in the books he left also because he was tired of being kicked at by his masters. He even says something like, "even a dog gets tired of getting kicked by its master", to Arya.

So it wasn't just the fire in the show, did you see the looks he would give Joffrey, when Joffrey would treat him like shit? It was a combination of things, mostly all the fire, but also he thought the city was lost, most his men had been killed, and he was tired of being the Lannister's "dog".

Then there is the fact that George rr Martin wrote the Blackwater episode, and I think he knows best how much fire it takes to make Sandor say "fuck it".

  8. Hey, mister White Knight I actually heard from several different people that Clarke spoke about her tit-clause in a television interview. How are you gonna save her now?

Easy, the "several different people" you "heard it from" interpreted what she said wrong. Either that, or they read a troll of a post, and then told you that they saw it themselves.

If so many people have seen it, then why didn't they tell you the exact source? Or why haven't you posted the source?

I'm really not trying to be rude, but frankly I am tired of people posting this. Why is it that nobody can provide real proof? I am not talking about "he said, she said".

I am pretty sure I have seen what they are talking about, and they definitely took what she said the wrong way. I watched an interview with her right after the filming of season two, and the interviewer asked Her if she liked the costumes for season two. Clarke then said, "after many scenes of not having a costume for season one, I am lucky to always be wearing one in season two, so I am thankful for that".

In all interviews i can find, she has only ever said that she had no nude scenes in season two, not that she refused to do them. She wouldn't say I was "lucky" not to have any this season", if it was a no nudity clause that dictated that, because that's not "luck", that's would be do to her own intervention.

So it sounds very much like the writers just didn't give her any nude scenes this season. Probably because they had so little time for her story already, and any nude scene would have been just for the fact of nudity. There was no real reason for Dany to be nude at all in season two, once you take out the Qartheen gown.

In other interviews, Clarke has said that the nude scenes terrified her, but she was fine with them because the nudity was important for the scene, to really make viewers sympathize with Daenerys, and what she was going through etc..

And there is the fact that Clarke did the nude photo's for GQ magazine, right after she filmed season two of thrones. So obviously it's not something she will "never do again", or anything.

I know I was being an ass earlier in my post, I would just like it if people could provide actual proof, or stop saying it. I seriously think people are just jumping to conclusions because we did not see her naked, so then people assume "Emilia Clarke must have added a no nudity clause to her contract".

  9. Did you join sufu just to post in this thread?

    Yes.

Sometimes the forum I normally post on is down. So one day when it was down, I found this one, and some people were posting about some bs, so I had to jump in and throw in my two cents.

Admittedly, it was not my best find, considering the time it takes for anybody else to post, a whole page of conversation has happened in most other forums. Not a lot of discussion happens here at all in this thread.

  10. man, i hope this thread doesn't turn into a back and forth between people catching feelings over GOT.

I don't think you have to worry, this thread doesn't get much discussion either way it would seem.

  11. Finally saw "Blackwater" last night. Pretty underwhelming. Don't know if the acting or the script was to blame, but i just wasn't feeling any anxiety or fear. I don't know about anyone else, but Tyrion's speech certainly wouldn't have motivated me to fight! And there wasn't enough fire to scare the Hound.

    Have you read the books?

When you say something like, "there wasn't enough fire to scare the hound", I kind of lose all interest in your opinion. Sandor would always come close to winning in the melee's, but Thoros's flaming sword would always freak Sandor out, so Thoros would beat Sandor. If one flaming sword is enough to freak Sandor out, then all that wildfire and flaming arrows definitely would to. Especially when you consider there was a guy running at him on fire. The show did a decent job at setting this up for people who have not read the books, by having Sandor say "if any of those flaming arrows come near me, I'll come back and strangle you with your fucking guts", before he went out the gates to fight.

And clearly it was enough fire to scare Sandor, because it did scare him! Sandor also told Sansa that he was going some place that was not burning. So clearly the fire outside the city was enough.

The acting in this episode was perfect from everybody, Sansa, Cersei, Bronn, Sandor, Tyrion, Joffrey, Stannis, Varys, and hell even Shae was great this episode. The script was also very good. They did the absolute best with everything they had.

If you have not read the book, and If this episode was not good for you, then maybe you should give up on television, because I sure as hell can't think of any other show that's ever had such a well rounded awesome episode, and I watch a lot of tv.

The only way I could understand you not having any "anxiety" or "fear", is if you have read the book.

And Tyrion's speech was awesome, but mainly he shamed people in to fighting, because he was a dwarf and he was willing to lead the fight, so if they did not follow him, "then what would that make them".

  12. trueblood has dropped off the last few seasons

I think it's just as good as its ever been, if not better in later seasons. I for one can not wait for this season to start, it looks so good.

I don't mean to derail the thread though, so back on topic. I was looking at the game of thrones episodes on Wikipedia, and it tells you who the writer was, the director etc, and it tells you how many minutes the episode is that your looking at. My point is, I was looking at this Sunday's episode, and it said it was 70 minutes long, and all the other episodes were around 50 minutes. So hopefully the episode will be that long, that would be cool, and they will need all the time they can get to rap everything up.

Has anybody else seen anything saying next weeks episode will be longer?

  13. Since when has (new) HBO not had a shitload of pointless nudity??? Do you guys not recall all those ridiculous lesbian scenes in the first season of Boardwalk Empire... those were necessary.

Do I really even need to mention True Blood? Every episode is like 30 minutes of titties and 20 minutes of shite storyline. Sookie still has some nice tits... and dat gap. :)

Hey true blood is a good show, one of the best after game of thrones in my opinion.

But on other forums people are constantly bitching about the pointless nudity, mainly people are tired of seeing Littlefinger's whores, because they are not real characters from the books. Us book readers want to see the characters we love get naked and have sex, not some dumb made up whore. However I am a guy so I still proffer naked nameless whores to no nudity at all. I would just like it better if it was some of the hot ass cast they have playing real characters getting naked, instead.

(Emilia Clarke, roxanne mckee, Oona Chaplin, Rose Leslie, Natalie dormer, Natalie Taena, carice van houten, lena headey) those are the ones they should be showing naked, and they have shown a few of them, but not enough, and not all of them. I don't get why Lena headey won't get naked, she did for 300, why not game of thrones? But a lot of those actress's in that list will get naked for the show, that's why I don't understand them not making more nude scenes with them, instead of Littlefinger's whores.

Anna Paquin does have some nice boobs though, and a killer body, and believe it or not, I have grown to love that gap in her teeth.

  14. few boobs divided by lots of swords = a very little ratio. how is that hard to understand ?

also I read Tyrion's bio on the internet afterwards and read a lot too far... shit.

Well I wasn't quite sure, because so many people have been bitching about there being to much "pointless nudity" in the show this season. So that's why I was confused, but your right, for a big battle like that, there should have been more boobs. People should have been having sex left, right, and center, they could all die that night, so they should have been screwing everything.

I think it's funny that Tyrion and Shae are constantly having sex in a clash of kings(book two)). Shae is literally naked and having sex with Tyrion, pretty much everytime Tyrion goes to see her. They have sex more than anybody else in the whole book, and yet we have only seen Shae's boobs in her first episode, when she first meets Tyrion, and they haven't shown them having sex at all really, this season.

You would think the show wouldn't pass up any chance to show nudity, especially when it's in the book, but no, they can only show Littlefinger's whores naked this season. Like book readers give a damn about seeing them naked. I have no problem with all the nudity, but I do wish they would stick to the nudity from the books. There is plenty to choose from in the books, that's why it makes no sense for them to add in all these made up scenes, just so they can show nudity.

Take some scenes from the books!

  15. ^re: boobs

    what do you think?

In other boob news, what is it with the Stark girls and stealing the show? Sansa's scenes in this episode were every bit as good as those between Tywin and Arya in the past few ones. Her entire character, from the script, to the actress, to Martin's characterization have been absolutely top notch. I specifically loved the scene where Joffrey forces her to kiss his sword.

I am still confused about the boobs comment.

But I also Loved Sansa in this episode, Sophie turner did such a good job. Her facial expressions were so perfect when she said, "I'm sorry your grace, your right, I'm stupid. Of course you'll be in the vanguard. They say my brother Robb always goes where the fightings thickest, and he's only a pretender." I was seriously clapping for Sansa in that scene, she owned Joffrey. I also really liked her lines to Tyrion.

(Sansa) "i will pray for your safe return my lord."

    (Tyrion) "you will?"

(Sansa) "just as I pray for the Kings"

Bronn and Sandor were also both very awesome in this episode, same goes for Stannis.

  16. Even when I take into account the appalling ratio of boobs to swords, that was a cracking episode.

Are you saying there wasn't enough boobs, or to much boobs.

    @veni vidi vici

Yes. I loved how even Tyrion and the defenders were appalled at the distruction the caused, all besides wisdom Hallyne the pyromancer, he was grinning from ear to ear lol. I loved how they brought Roy Dotrice back for this episode, even though he was not needed at all(for those that don't know, he does all the voices for all the song of ice and fire audiobooks).

Originally they wanted Roy Dotrice to play grand maester Pycelle, but he couldn't do it at the time for health reasons, so I am glad they have found ways to fit him in the show whenever they can. He is awesome, especially for being so old, I think he is 89, and yet he can still do all the different voices for the audiobooks. He actually broke the world record for doing so many different voices in an audiobook.

  17. ...eh, hold your horses there. i know you qualified it with "quite possibly", but i don't think anybody can make that kind of statement without being some kind of authority figure on television (even though i don't know for sure you aren't). it was a great episode, but best in history? idk about that.

What makes someone an authority figure of television? I wouldn't say I am officially qualified to make such a claim, but if you knew how much tv I watched, then you would know I am somewhat of an unofficial expert lol.

I am not saying everyone will agree that it's quite possibly the best episode ever on television, but then again, not everyone would agree with an official tv critic either. So in my most humbled opinion, this episode was up there with top best episodes ever to be on premium television.

    @ "Augustus"

Do you say that as a good thing, or a bad?
