I haven't had time to take pictures of the RxC yet because I have been playing with this, which I saw at a local resale shop just before New Year's and picked up yesterday.
It needs to be rewired and is missing a few easily replaced parts, but seems to work fine.

When I posted the information on fabric weight of Levi's, I meant to include the source which is 501: The Evolution of the Jean by Lynn Downey, published by Levi Strauss (2008) pp. 16-21. (The previous post has been edited.) I certainly have no first hand knowledge of fabric weight from handling vintage jeans. The information in the book could be wrong, but unless someone has very extensive experience with vintage jeans from the World War II era, I would tend to trust this source.

1937s are supposed to be 10oz before washing. 1944s like 1947s are supposed to be 12 oz before washing.
Edit: I meant to include the source of this information. It is from 501: The Evolution of the Jean by Lynn Downey, published by Levi Strauss (2008) pp. 16-21.

Really looking forward to getting both of your new books! Keep up the good work so I don't have to buy any more Japanese books/magazines with texts that I don't understand just to get the pictures.
Your father-in-law and Charla both look great in their LVC duds, too.
We received a box full of LVC clothing in time for our book meeting tonight... Russ is wearing a sunset shirt and a pair of 1890's XX.
Charla is wearing a pair of 1978's 501's... Last pic is a rough layout of Russ and Charla's new work wear book.

Sports-tog jacket I bought from roy6.
It is just a bit small, but the color is great.
Because is cut very trim, it seems to work better with a dress shirt than a work shirt.

Some pictures from the Delaware River valley right around the time Superfuture went down.
Frenchtown
One of my favorite river towns. Unfortunately, the person who wrote Eat Pray Love has moved in, so it attracts a lot more tourists than it used to. But it does have a candy store that sells great old candy like Necco Wafers, Zotz, and Lemonheads.
Many of the buildings have signs painted on the brickwork.
Stockton
On the Pennsylvania side of the bridge is a restaurant called Dilly's Corner that has great soft ice cream. It is very popular with Harley Davidson owners.
Big Brother is watching.

I have not posted for a while because superfuture 5.0 would not let me log in, even though I requested two new passwords. I figured that if I waited long enough, something might change. But it didn't. I am guessing 5.0 doesn't like the exclamation point at the end of my old user name. So I have a new account. My user name has been shorn me of the exclamation point which strips it of meaning for me. ("Entertainment!" is the name of a Gang of Four album, but not many people figured that out any way as far as I can tell.)
Since I don't have the same account as before, does this mean I am disqualified from the prizes? (Probably it will have more to do with not having posted enough per the newly promulgated contest rules?)
But unlike illumin8em, I do have my pair of RxC at least.

zissou - hope you have good luck finding your singer. this is another machine I found at the same resale shop about a year ago. It is from around 1960 and has much more features than the one I just found (which is from 1925, although the motor and table might be newer). (The 1925 machine doesn't even have reverse feed.) This one is made in Great Britain. I think it has been nicknamed the gray battleship. In both cases I have spent more money replacing the missing parts and buying accessories than I spent on the machine itself.
I have hemmed several pairs of jeans on this machine for my wife (she doesn't care about chain stitching) and it easy goes through seven layers of 12 oz denim.
One great thing about buying an old singer is that singer has all the owner's manuals available online (although finding the right one is often tricky).
