Re: horsehide temper, it's a little firmer and quite a bit waxier than normal CXL cow. Still much more flexible than veg tan, though.

bike portage strap from walnut studios. about 2 years old. really dig the touch of leather the strap brings to my daily commute. super functional for my steel frame beater! had a lot of fun stitching it onto the bike - i chose to do a mexican basketweave stitch. custom lettering - yeaaaaaaaaaaah. and here's the set-up if anyone is interested.
