  1. ^A lot more interesting than "cliche" family portraits, I like it! What f stop did you use?

    Thanks, I used f/2.2 1/60th @ 800 ISO

I'm trying to put together an album of unusual angles of family photos mostly of my Son for his grand(and great grand)parents for Christmas :)

Love your 2nd shot..I can't wait to get out to NYC this winter. these photos make me wish I had them money to go right now lol

  2. Thanks,

I've heard good and bad when it comes to bikesdirect.com, anyone wanna clarify?

    Also, what about roadbikeoutlet.com?

I've bought around 5 bikes from bikesdirect and I've never had a problem except on the motobecane jury they didn't design it to fit a rear brake..but no big deal since I didn't use it anyways. They've got great products for the price point and decent tubing..no high tensile shit.

  3. I want to pick up a single speed for campus this year.

Id like to enjoy various variations and color options and such, but am researched enough to know not to go and get a godawful bike from UO or any similar online sites offering such expensive hipster pleasure in the form of colorful bikes made of cheap materials.

Is there anywhere actually good, for lack of a better word, that I could go for this?

bikesdirect.com check out the mercier kilo tt (awesome bike..real track geo) or the windsor hour..which has a slightly more relaxed geometry.

  4. Hey Thin Finn,

Might just be my personal opinion, but I'm not a fan of how much detail you seem to be losing due to the extreme contrast you have, the last two especially. If this was done is post, maybe scale it back just a little, otherwise (if it can be helped) shooting at a different time of day would help immensely.

The shot of the guys in the back of the truck is my favorite, though the woman on the far right staring right at the camera is a bit of a distraction. A square crop would nicely eliminate that and still retain the symmetrical composition, but that could just be my bias for square frames talking. :o

I agree about the last two..reminds me too much of hipstamatic or whatever it's called. I loved the ones of the two men talking just as you said but disagree on the square. Golden rectangle wins every time. It's more visually pleasing overall..square would come next though. (I think it would also create too much tension in the photo being it's closer to the edge.)

  5. well it is a vintage raleigh frame i've blasted and painted. I didn't take off braze ons because I don't want to rule out the possibility of using those one day. I know I need a longer chain because I went up in teeth.

As the bars go, I can't seem to find anything else that doesn't kill my back when I'm loaded down with school books.

  6. went to the annual "goatman" festival that's suppose to be wandering the area..right.

pin the tail on goatman (looks like something else is about to go down)

  7. for my diy set up I used those circle things you put decorative embroideries on the wall and stuff. Then I forget the material but it was really close weaved fabric..then stretched it on the circle and tightened it down..you draw on what you want to put on the shirt, hats, whatever and use modge podge glue to fill in the negative space..after that you let it dry and you essentially have it set up to use multiple times..just lay it on the fabric and apply ink in even strokes then carefully pull it off the fabric and voila
