  1. idk, it became the norm. Ebay, other forum sites and even goodwill stores sell used/vintage products. People buy them because it's unique and affordable. Used shoes (visvim, jordan, nike) are brought because they all have a history, is expensive and highly sough. People probably buy used raw denim because they understand jeans will eventually fade out after many wears, so there is no reason spending a couple of extra hundred for a new one.

i have a visvim mayan that is pretty beat up...i always tell myself to get them repaired one day but somehow never got round to it. :o

i really like them though. i should do it now!

idk what history you're talking about...i mean certainly they do have a history to me, but that's only because i've been wearing them for 3+ years. can't see how they have history to someone else.

thought this was a thread about why people sell shitty stuff, i.e. worst of supermarket. i regret clicking this thread.

well it can be extended into that, too. some of the things i've seen for sale cannot be pulled off by anyone alive!

  2. nah, that was not really what i was insinuating. i mean there is always a certain element of risk when buying from an unknown person online, even a reputable seller would acknowledge that. but i was thinking more along the lines of that they bought stuff with the idea of wearing it for only a few months and then selling it off.

hey, it's your money, but that seems like the kind of thing only women do. i like nice clothes, yes, but like most guys I know, I don't buy and sell them to have an ever changing wardrobe of nice clothes.

  3. For me, its a way to fund future purchases which will most likely be spent back into the sufu market. Paying hundreds of bucks on some 'used jeans' is exactly why I buy it, because those same jeans would probably retail for over half a grand on rakuten, far from my spending limit.

I do find it interesting when I see the same article of clothing being bought and sold continuously on sufu, shifting hands from one member to another. I like to think of it as a 'lending' program since those holy grail items are hard to come by..

well most people learn to live with stuff they can never have, and if something were a holy grail, then why would it even be sold?

let's get it out of the way, yes, i do have some pretty high end stuff, and i'll probably be getting a pair of augustas next after some part-time work. I could buy them second hand and have a lot more of em, but it just doesn't feel the same...the boots for example have moulded itself to someone else's foot, not mine.

i don't consider myself a very rich person, so when i work for something that i really want, there is a tendency to treasure it more.

  4. I've been a lurker on some forums for now and the one thing I realise is that everybody is trying to sell their shit.

It's most prominent here on sufu, and there's arguably much less of a marketplace vibe in sf.com (etc...), but I want to ask, why do so many people do this?

I have attempted to sell things before (although never actually SOLD them), but when I do, it's because I made a bad judgement call and bought the wrong size, so it's practically brand new. Still, alteration is my first try, unless it has zips in the way.

Fair enough, people in some places can't always get what they want easily (although LVR/Antonioli etc. should always be the first stop). So it's nice that some people are offering these brand new stuff for less.

But why are most items used sneakers, jackets, faded raws, etc? I don't get why anyone would wear someone else's clothes. It's disgusting. It's one thing to wear hand-me-downs, but it's another to pay hundreds of bucks for it to be shipped over from Mr.unknown. Also, it's hard to believe that people have several pieces of expensive clothing that don't fit them just "lying unused in my wardrobe". I mean everyone makes couple sizing mistakes, but when you're selling 5 of them, well - hard to believe.

When I buy a product, no matter what, I mean to keep it as my very own and make it last as long as possible. I may be the last person on earth who does this, but I only buy a quality product that I truly want, and not with a view to sell it to someone else in a year for god knows what reason.

  5. sup guys, does anyone know of a place in melbourne that carries REASONABLY priced julius/attachment/wjk?

i've been to harrold's but when I saw them selling a jutneck i have for 4000 bucks I well...I mean, come on, i paid less than 1.7k for it full retail in japan.

else I could try LVR for dior or just asking my japanese friends to send it over as a gift, there is this lovely multi-strap boot from julius f/w 11, but sizing is iffy.

  6. So check this shit out... all the new footwear has a new tag that's quite small but very noticeable that says "MADE BY HAND".

What gets me is that the "Made in China" now is super hidden on almost all the shoes, so hidden that it's near impossible to find it on most models.

I own 11 pairs of Visvim shoes, i love what they do and never question their prices, but this shit with the upcoming seasons' prices combined with their new branding techniques is seriously off-putting like it's un-intentional shadiness.

how do you know mate? that's not good news...i might actually consider buying dior homme instead of vis footwear now. pity, because like you i have many pairs of vis and it's sad to see how the older models were reasonably priced and still of very good quality.

1k is nonsensical. it's even higher than most mainstream luxury brands.

btw, i own gabo lows...they only fit a little big. i wear TTS, might have a bit of room in there, but if you're going sockless it helps air the shoe.

  7. I searched...honest!

Okay, I have a jut neck w riders that I need to alter. Size 1. A little about me, I have a very slim lower torso and waist but an average chest, so I need to taper many things. This jacket included.

Make it slimmer. But I have very little confidence in the ability of most tailors, even those experienced and professional ones, that they can do a good job on this one. It's heavy leather, brand new, and expensive.

Do you think it can reasonably be done by a good tailor (a master leatherworker is stretching it - where can I find one)? Advice is much appreciated!

Iconic w-neck from most recent collection. Flexible cowl; can be worn closed, open or half open.

I'm keen on selling this because it fits too baggy around my very slim waist. Anyone have experience altering leather jackets in melbourne? Would love the advice. If I can get it tapered then I guess I don't have to sell it :)

Size 1. Fits very slightly longer (and bigger) than the previous cuts.

No paypal please. Meetups only. Melbourne is most convenient.

Bought less than 2 months ago. 99.9% brand new because nobody wears leather jackets in aussie summer.

Asking for 1.8k AUD, negotiable. Which is just about the price I paid for, except of course I deliver it right to you.
