  1. Hey Roy fans...just put some RS 1's on ebay.  I think these came from the second batch Roy ever sent to Self Edge:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/111688256551?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Worn sparingly, washed 2 or three times. 31 tagged - hemmed at SE to 33.  Exact measurements in listing.

And as to not be a complete salesman - Some pics for your ogling pleasure:

  2. post soak:

    Chest - a little under 46

    Vertical length - 28.75

    Sleve length - 25.5

    Shoulder width - 17.5

So just about what I expected.  My experience with all this high end denim is that I usually don't get all the shrinkage out with the first soak/wash, but it probably won't be a whole lot more.

    Here's a rough fit pic:

  3. No, I didn't measure before I soaked it.  I haven't measured since, but it pretty much fits like I expected after I measured my other shirts and compared those to the info on the SE site.  When I tried it on before I soaked, I was worried that it might be too small afterwards but it's fine.  I probably could pull off a L, and I think it would look just fine, but it would proabably be just a bit too snug in the shoulders from a comfort standpoint.  Plus I have long arms and XL the sleeves are just about the perfect length when buttoned.  I was worried the L sleeves would end up a bit too short.

If you look at Roy modeling the shirt on the SE site, those sleeves look too short to me.  If I wore a shirt with sleeves that short, it would drive me nuts!

  4. After I measured several size L shirts I own,  and figured the post-hot soak shrinkage based on the numbers on the SE site, the XL made the most sense.  The great thing is I can wear this as an overshirt or wear it tucked in if I want.

Perhaps when I post fit pics the consensus from the "experts" ;) here will be that its too large, but I couldn't be happier with the fit.

  5. Looking at these pics is a trip.  I decided on an XL after doing all the measuring and figuring for shrinkage.  I'm 5'11", 175 with an athletic build and the XL fits perfect for the way I like shirts to fit.  Sometimes I see some fit pics on these threads where the shirts fit way too snug for my liking - even on some of the models!  I guess that's the style, but I like to be comfortable and like a little more room.

The wierd thing is that I did a warm soak/cold rinse as per the directions from Roy and I feel like I didn't get nearly as much shrinkage as some of these other pictures are showing.  I'll try to get some fit pics up later.  For now, I have these - just iPhone 5s quality:

  6. Would someone kindly put up--or send me via pm--some post-soak measurements of a size 33 and 34 in the new Roy Ducks? I would be greatly appreciated.

This was posted several pages back on a size 34.....

    Post soak:

    waist: 17

    inseam 35.5

    opening 8.5

    FR: 12

    RR: 14.5

    thigh: 12.5

    knee: 9 1/4

  7. I'd also give them a second soak and hand-agitate a bit if you want to get all the shrinkage out - mine shrank up a fair bit in the second (hot) soak.

I gave them another soak this morning after they were dry based on some recommendations a few pages back. Thanks for looking out for my Roys!

  8. I figured I'd give some pics of details I havent seen anywhere else...pre soak

    Soak pics tomorrow hopefully.

  9. And to your latter comment: pppsssshhhh. I live in SoCal and even only have a bike as a means of transportation, and almost never went jeans-less this past summer! I also wore jeans every day in Equatorial East Africa, and Rio de Janeiro, though, so I might just be inured to leg-overheating.

Yeah, I followed the Roy x Cone contest thread and dug all your posts but thought you must be hot!! I'll wear jeans here and there during the summer, especially to work, but for outdoor stuff, it;s too humid. However, mosquitos love me so maybe I should make more of an effort to go denim all summer!

  10. I just ordered some new ducks. I'll post some pics as soon as I get 'em going.

Meanwhile, here are some iPhone pics I just took of my RS01s. These are a bout 2 years old - rotated with a few different things. I can attest to the fact that these are slow to fade!

Plus, I live in the Southern US where I can't really wear jeans all that much in the summer. My guess is that I wear them on average about 2-3 times a week, haven't done much manual labor in them.
