  1. Does anyone here swim? I've just moved to London from Sydney and am looking for a regular pool. So far I've tried London Fields Lido and Market Sports in Shoreditch, but I'm keen to check out some others. I swim every day and am willing to travel for good facilities (large, clean, pref. chlorine-free). Thanks.

  2. ^ Same goes for the NYC store: they have a heap of jeans out the back that aren't on display.

missingtrigger, my suggestion if you have skinny legs is to look at some 17.5cms. There are some nice, simple prewashes around at the moment. Give the 19cm raws a try, just because they're the 'classic' Dior jean and will almost certainly be in stock. Other than that, find a friendly sales-person (which is sometimes tricky at a Dior boutique!) and ask for recommendations.

  3. Personally i'd go with Singapore and with an A380 if possible - I find it much quieter than other aircraft and can get a decent sleep despite being 6ft 4.

Otherwise try Japan Airlines and get a stop off in Tokyo for a few days. All depends on what time of the year you're going but i've seen SYD - NAR - CDG for just 2.3k AUD.

Personally would steer clear from BA if you don't like your baggage to go missing.

Another vote for Singapore. Their economy prices are actually pretty competitive -- especially short-notice flights. I was checking some London flights today (departing in 1-2 weeks) and Singapore still had very reasonable fares compared to many other airlines.

  4. Apologies if this has been asked before:

Where in Sydney can I get good designer spectacles? I have decent health insurance so I'm happy to look at high-end places. I wear my glasses 24/7 so it's a major investment for me!

There's a place in the MLC Centre that has some designer stuff... Anywhere else?

  5. you'll be here during the barneys warehouse sale.

No, I missed it... I left on the 12th and it started on the 18th... :(

I did buy a great pair of (full price) Rick Owens boots from Barneys, though.

I'll have to time my next trip more carefully!

  6. hi =) its just a basic from top man , nth much

yea, but its kinda comfy =))

Cool, thanks. The t-shirt looks really tapered around the waist, which is why I'm asking. I've been looking for shirts like that. How tall are you?

Also, ignore the people who are saying your jeans are too tight. You're skinny, you can get away with it!

  7. ^^ yeah saw it last week, but if im not mistaken they combine the shampoo and the bath gel into one product, i dont think thats good ..

Hmm, I'm not sure. That does sound a bit odd. I don't actually use anything from the Kiehl's men's line myself... I use their regular moisturiser with SPF, which is pretty good, and another heavy-duty moisturiser at night. They have some decent scrubs, too.

  8. I wish it weren't that way, but the fact of the matter is that when I go into a high-end clothing store wearing Levi's and Chucks, the staff usually ignore me. If I go in wearing my best clothes, they assume I'm rich and pay me more attention. The reason I mentioned it with Balenciaga is because their boutiques are known to be particularly snooty.

  9. Damn. Ok, thanks. It's funny how there's nothing smaller than a 30" in stock in New York and nothing bigger than a 28" in stock in London. Does that say something about the comparative size of the English and the Americans?!

  10. dtolo, are the waist sizes comparable to Diors, too? I'm in London right now and Harvey Nichols has a couple of prewashes in 28... But I wear a 29 in Dior... And I don't particularly want to trek out to Harvey Nicks if they're not going to fit.

  11. i have been quietly enjoying Balenciaga denim before the hype kicks in. once i bought few pairs i said goodbye to diors, quality alot better, cut almost the same, little better imo.

Where did you buy them? And when you say the cut is similar to DIors, do you mean the 19cm? Does Balenciaga only have one cut for their jeans?

  12. This is my first pair of 17.5s so I can't really compare... But I'm definitely not wearing them higher than I normally wear my 19cms. I'd say they're sitting 1-2 inches below my hip bones.

  13. Well, I just got back from their store in NYC. First off, the sales staff are incredibly rude. It didn't seem to matter that I was dressed well (Dior jeans, Rick Owens etc).

In terms of jeans, they had four or five (ugly) pre-washes, and some raw indigos. The smallest size they had (in any style) was a 30" waist, so I didn't even bother trying anything on (I'm 28" in Diors). The woman "helping" me refused to say if, or when, they would have new stock.

Despite all this, I do want to try these jeans. I'm interested to hear opinions/comparisons from anyone who actually owns a pair!
