  1. Foam rolling is good pre-stretching for breaking up 'knots' (collagen) in the muscle fibers. Stretching afterwards helps realign everything after the knots have been rolled out. Stretching a muscle before working out can slightly effect performance, as you are basically sending the muscle the message to relax right before you need it to work for you, which is why some people take issue with it. However, the prevailing sentiment seems to be that it's better to take the risk of reduced performance than the risk of injury.

If you have any muscle imbalances (tight hip flexors for instance) rolling and stretching these can relax them enough so that the other muscles are able to work as they should.

  2. i'd say that veilance runs tts albeit slightly boxy in some garments. keep in mind that many of their outerwear pieces are cut to accomodate layering underneath.

I've seen others say this, but I completely disagree, and I can still layer underneath after sizing down one. I'm a size 48 and all six of my veilance outerwear pieces have been s or xs, and I've returned two for being too large.

  3. Hey guys any tips for sore neck and shoulders when running? I stretch pre and post run and have been trying to relax my shoulders during but can't help but feel tight and sore at times. Any specific or deeper stretches I can try? Thought the yoga would help but no such luck.

I have this exact same issue, my cervical spine and traps get really sore. I also generally practice yoga after my runs and it doesn't do much for me either.

Vancouver is a good place to run, even in the rains.

I'm going to be spending time up there this summer. If any of you have suggestions on great trails I'd appreciate it.

  4. nice. if you saw a guy in leaf-print gyak saluting a dead duck outside the kayak rental station then that was me

I was in full gyak camo too that day, would've been weird to see someone else wearing the same thing.

have any of you guys tried the nike flyknit racers?

I have the flyknit trainers. I don't like running long distances in them due to the sole, prefer my lunarspiders or frees.

  5. I ran Shoal Creek Trail in Austin this morning.

It had rained the night before so the trail was submerged in some places.

    Not many people out today.

Ended up managing a pretty slow 4+ miles. Trying to recover from a torn muscle so taking it kind of easy.

  6. I prefer to size down one from my 'normal' size in veilance as I think the jackets can fit somewhat boxy. Measurements are really the only way to figure sizing out though. Pick something you own that fits really well, measure it and use those guidelines when you buy something new. It will save you money on the long run.

  7. Just tried on the new Lunarspiders, sized up from my US10 on teh Zoom Elite 5s to a 10.5 to get the right fit.

^So the "go true to nike size" advice is a bit off?

The other gyakusou shoes I have feel a little tight in my normal size, so I went up a half for the lunarspiders.
