Anybody out there making decent progress with their Black Marias? I'm nearing the six month mark (just 2 weeks away). I'll put together something more elaborate then. Here's a left knee teaser. This sulfur-dyed Collect Mills stuff is fascinating and stubborn. I love the vertical falling, the slowly emerging texture, and the almost "chalky" appearance of the fading of the whiskers and deeper creases; such an interesting and fun contrast to the evolution of indigo stuffs. Cheers.

A few questions about the "1960s 606 Jeans Black Overdye"

Do they represent the first "black" jeans in Levi's history? If not, when was the first black Levi's made?

Does "Overdye" mean that the indigo denim was dyed black?

Does the loom machine dictate the width of the white part of the selvedge where the ID sits?

Can it hypothetically have indigo all the way to the edge of the selvedge without showing any white?

that sounds like a deep cold soak. minimal shrinkage. is the black dyed on top of indigo?

How do the non-Addict "Made in Japan" Converse compare with the regularly available Converse in the States?

They don't have Vibram soles, but do they use premium canvas uppers?

I have only bought LVC loomstate products which only states the actual size prior to shrinkage.

I'm going to try PBJ soon, but I wouldn't fuss over wether it shrinks to tagged size or not.

Also, loomstate almost always stretches back to waist size eventually, so shrinkage is essentially moot.

If y'all ever do un-sanforized, please put the actual size on the label instead of the size that it will (might) shrink to. Because they never shrink the amount that they say they will. Too many variables.
