I can't imagine why you couldn't do such a job. They are a goodyear welted boot so when you need the sole replaced, just ask your cobbler to install the vibram sole & heel of your choice. I've seen some folks go the other way and have a standard sole/heel replaced with the white/wedge vibram sole on a welted boot.
I'm with you, I like the look of the 213 but once you've broken in a pair of boots, it would be a shame to replace them and start over with a fresh pair just to get a different sole.
Yep, these boots have a lot of life left in them, it's only been a year but they feel amazing. Now, to find a good cobbler. I also wrote to Red Wing, and they said they could do it if I just mark the sole I want on the order form. Thanks, patrick_b!

Thanks for the visual, devilish. My soles will need to be replaced before long, which is why I asked. The boot has broken in to the point where it feels like it was made specifically for my foot, so i'd rather modify it than replace it!

Question: anybody know if you can have red wing's "iron ranger" sole & heel put onto a pair of their 875s? I've been wearing my 875s for a year and i love 'em, but i've always had a preference for a heel, and I think the sole looks great too.
So can I put this sole & heel:
...onto this boot:
Thanks for any input!

My Nudies AJs and I took a trip to Nashville, TN, and the first stop was at Imogene + Willie. I bought a fantastic pair of Willie rigid at this beautiful service station turned denim factory/shop. It was cool to see the small group of old sewing machines making the very same jeans being sold on the other side of the store, and the sales people were awesome. I wish I would have taken more photos than just this one: me, outside the shop, holding my old Nudies and wearing my new Imogene + Willies.

My Levi's 501 Shrink to Fit jeans. Raw denim. Straight leg, medium rise, button fly, copper rivets. I gave these one initial soak in hot water for 45 minutes when I first bought them to take of the shrinking, then I wore them while they were still wet so that they would mold to my body and set the creases. Now, six months later, they are beginning to made very nicely along these creases on the lap, behind the knees, and around the ankle. Wallet fade is also coming along nicely, and so is the Zippo fade in the coin pocket. If you are familiar with raw denim, than you know the process. These have had 1 soak, no washes, but in the HOT DRY desert air where I live, I've found that a day of hanging them in the shade is all I need to keep them fresh. Once they're your's, you can wash or dry-clean them all you want, but I wanted to see how the classic 501 STFs (made in Mexico) would turn out after following the standard raw denim guidelines of wearing often and washing not so often. After the shrinking, I feel that the waist has stretched back out to its original 30" tag size, and I would say the length has shrunk to about a 34, maybe a little longer if you were to stretch out all the creases. These jeans still have a LOT of life left in them. Incidentally, even though you can't see it in the photos, the cuffs are still in great condition, i.e. I didn't walk all over them and shred them up. I cuffed when I was at home, and they never drug when I was wearing shoes.
Please note that the color in the first (close-up) photo is the most accurate.
Shipping prices are for the US. Please Email me with any questions. Thanks for taking the time to check out my jeans!

My Levi's 511 men's skinny jeans. Raw, unwashed selvedge denim. The selvedge outseam is white and is visible on the cuff in my first photo. Leather "Levi's" patch. Straight leg, 100% cotton. Preshrunk. Zipper fly. I gave these one initial soak in order to set the creases, but I've worn them less than a dozen times, so there's absolutely no sign of wear. No washes. They're your's to make your own.
Free shipping!

I'm auctioning on eBay a vintage porkpie hat that I found in my grandparents' basement. Size 6 5/8. It's in excellent condition, and I would wear it every day if I could, but it's too small for my head. They're not sure where it came from, but it belonged to my uncle when he was growing up, so it's at least 30 years old. It has a macramé band that I think he added himself; I think it would look nicer with a strip of dark ribbon. The brim flips up all the way around, but in the first photo the front is tilted down. The second photo give a better view of the top and the brim. It's a man's hat, but would definitely look great on a lady!
Bidding starts at $19.99 US, or you can buy it now for $29.99. Shipping is $8.00 within the U.S., but I'll be happy to work out a shipping price to send the hat outside the country.

Since it was so small the first time...
here is the link to ebay where i have listed these jeans. http://www.ebay.com/...9#ht_500wt_1068
bidding starts at $59.99 us, or you can buy them now for $89.99. free shipping in the u.s., but i'll be happy to work out a price to ship outside the country. size 30/32
levi's "blue star" jeans that i bought while working in nice, france. i paid 200 euros for them. this series was only available in europe, and even though they were a little too short on me, i couldn't pass them up. they have an insane amount of detail, such as blue inside rivets (see picture), blue fly buttons, a white leather patch, a front button stamped with a shooting star, trademark arcuate on the coin pocket, unique pointy arcades on the back pockets, and hand stitching on the belt loops, cuffs, etc. triple stitched seams. lots of subtle distressing effects. inside of front pocket reads "ingredients: the finest thread, the strongest weave, the nicest wash, the softest finish…the kindest denim with the greatest fit. carefully nurtured by a blue fingered genius." i wish so badly that i could hang on to these, both for the sentimental values as well as because they just look amazing, but i usually wear a 34" length, and the 32" inseam always left my ankles showing.
straight slim leg, more slim than skinny. heavy duty cotton, no stretch. 5 pockets. button fly. low rise. very dark blue. made in turkey through levi strauss & co brussels, belgium. worn less than a dozen times.
thanks for taking the time to check out my stuff!

A friend posted this on my facebook wall yesterday.
Guy's jeans are fucking ugly to begin with. Love how he doesn't have a clue why he's doing what he's doing, he's just going along with what a sales person and a stranger told him to do.
Soap and water is what cleans jeans, no getting around it.
So that's what it's like in the "world of FANCY jeans"

When lots of people think youre a selfless person from helping them move, do yardwork, anf other chores but really your answer actually depends on whether you have any jeans that need to be broken in
I've totally done this, in the heat of July, thinking quietly to myself: "Yess, armoire, go ahead and scrape against my lap all the way down the stairs!"

While revisiting your childhood (watching Back to the Future) you notice that when Marty trips Biff in the diner, you can clearly see that Biff is wearing selvedge. Suddenly, you respect the movie even more for its historical accuracy.

I found this short film by Takayuki Akachi documenting a pair of this girl's raw Levi's as she travels around the world for two years. It's one long series of quick photographs. Sorry if everybody here already knows about this video and I'm wasting your time, but I found it on my own tonight and I wanted to share. http://vimeo.com/8050293
