  1. Though I do think MGSV is a not-so-great game, I think it sounds like you've been approaching it too rigidly.

You don't have to do any of the things you keep mentioning. You don't have to go to the base or pet the dog or play the game solely based on stealth and sneaking around. You can play it however you want. One of the few pros of the game IMO was the variety of ways you could tackle the missions. Each of my friends would beat missions in completely different ways than I did.

I think you're pigeonholing yourself too much and making it too formulaic. The shame is that it sounds like you're spending way too long on missions in the beginning (if you've taken hours to get to mission 5 or w/e) when a lot of stuff does come into play later in the game (D Walker, more weapons, a lot more customization options for your weapons, etc.).

Again, I agree that the game has a lot of flaws, but maybe you should also change up the way you're tackling it and have a little fun with it. Do a level all-out guns-blazing then switch it up and do an all-stealth level or snipe everyone or grenade everyone or whatever. Some of the late game cut scenes were pretty funny and over-the-top. Reminiscent of past Metal Gears.

  2. IMO the only game I enjoyed since getting a PS4 was Bloodborne. Atmosphere, combat, gameplay, difficulty curve were all excellent. Can't get into other hack and slash/button mash type games any more (like Shadow of Mordor).

I think that reviewers are just basically handing 9/10's to all AAA game titles nowadays. Halo 5 is a piece of shit but it's fairly highly rated.

MGSV is just okay. Once you beat the main story there's nothing to do, as hard as Konami is trying to push FOB infiltrations or MGO they both suck.

Next year I may just get Dark Souls 3. Only game that's on my must-cop list so far.

  3. I give phantom pain like a 6/10. Like everyone said gameplay is good but it's missing the over-the-top cinematics that the other MGSs had.

Still gonna check out MGO when it drops this Tuesday

Then imma wait for Dark Souls 3 next year it seems

  4. anyone else not like the story in the first episode of Phantom Pain ? think the game is great but the story just didnt do it for me .... hope the second episode is better

    l o l you're in for a disappointment in episode 2 ...

btw if you just care about story then you don't even have to do the repeat higher difficulty missions. Just do anything that's yellow. You'll see that episode 2 is insanely short. Episode 1 was basically everything lol.
