This is my first time taking measurements, but seems straightforward per BiG method. Seems consistent with Self Edge's measurements too, with the waist coming in a bit higher due to wear + no washing. Also, please note that these are tagged at 32" waist -- I mistakenly said 33" as that's what I typically wear.

Up for grabs is a pair of 32 Flat Head 1001 purchased from Self Edge NY last year. These have been owned for a year but have only been worn the equivalent of 2 months (maybe less) as I've only worn my Samurais since getting them a few weeks after these. Presoaked once, have not been washed or touched water since so the deep indigo is still very much there and only the back wallet pocket shows visible wear. One note - I modified the leather tag stitching to allow the belt to go beneath it; the lower left corner needs a few stitches to secure it -- not a big deal at all, just will take a quick sew. Length is around 34.

Think they retail for around $320-340 new, I'm asking $200 obo. price drop to 150

question about the 710s.. After a few soaks and a few weeks of wear I'd like to get em hemmed. If I take off an inch and a half, will the leg opening lose any of its taper post-hem? Also, has anyone ever altered the leg opening of the 710 to have a bit more taper? I like the jean a lot, but was expecting the leg opening to be a bit slimmer.. thanks

inyourface i agree man. I thought FH were known to be one of the fastest faders out of the japanese names. I've worn mine almost daily for the past 10 weeks and besides minor wallet fade and whiskers, they're not fading much. definitely much softer though than when I first got em, but what denim doesn't soften quickly..

yeah, i'm impressed the 14.5 oz denim withstood 2 years / no wash without major deconstruction..

got my 710s from BiG this past week. just wanted to thank anyone who helped w/ sizing advice. went tts and they fit great after 2 soaks. I'm on the fence w/ whether or not to hem. I'll try to post pics and get some input from ya guys.

yep go tts on the 1001s. my thighs finally stretched out post-soak a bit. they fit real nice now.

@maynard you're right, in this singular corporate context the acct information or management information systems is supreme. Last night I was thinkin bout running shit in a macro-framework.

1. accountants absolutely do not rule the world.. they have zero control over capital allocation. zero. financiers run shit; and maybe legislators and attorneys as well.

2. as a total newb, I don't expect anyone to really give a shit about my opinion, and conveniently, I've got no problem with that dynamic. nonetheless, after reading so many references to j. crew over the past few weeks of being in sufu and sf, I'm compelled to share my thoughts.

For a cohort that embraces an aesthetic (for denim specifically and fashion generally) that can be characterized as premium, often (if not usually) obscure, and perhaps (but certainly not deliberately) pretentious, the loyalty for j. crew confounds me. On the one hand, we have these obscure, almost "underground," Japanese denim houses that are tightly-managed within a design-centric, quality-first ethos.. if we're lucky, we can get info on the next season's collection from someone like kiya, gordon, or someone who can at least translate for us. Names like flat head spend years (allegedly) coming up with the perfect denim or fabric, nothing less is acceptable. Meanwhile, publicly-trading J. Crew's only priority is its fiduciary responsibilities to maximize profits for the benefit of its shareholders. Beyond that, the j. crew tradition of preppy/waspy/mainstream as fuck/whatever seems so far removed from anything that is samurai, eternal, etc, etc. why not open the door to banana republic, brooks brothers, a&f, express, etc?

consider my perspective. working in investment banking, I'm the first to embrace capitalism and everything from which it derives. I just have trouble reconciling the shared acceptance of the japanese/workwear/etc trends with something that is hogwarts-preppy in design and mediocre quality from outsourced manufacturing.

hey all. just ordered my 710s from BiG today. how should I soak? Or, should the temperature and duration of the soak be a function of how the pre-soak fit and how much shrinkage I want? I went tts on these, lot 13 fyi, and didn't hem.
