Holy shit. Is Brown, Deim actually charging $500 a pair, these days? Having seen a few pairs in person, I'm willing to say that they're not horrible jeans, but they're not worth anywhere near that price...

x-post from eternal thread
Good ol' 883s. 1.5 years effective wear, lots of washes.
Dunno what happened to the combs. They're practically non-existent...
On top of my new 888s.
Compared to the 888 model.

I've read in the Eternal Contest thread that lots of people seem to have quality control issues with the contest jeans... are the regular 811s (or 811BGs) like this too?
I don't know what the deal is with the contest jean quality. I bought my pair of 883s in Tokyo in 2010, and they're just now starting to show signs of a crotch blowout. Quality-wise, I'd say they're standard fare amongst jeans of cotton-thread construction. Just my $0.02.

Cheers. My job requires me to wear a uniform, so they don't have a full 2 years of wear.

Teaser shot of my 883s. Almost 2 years.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Gilangaditya again.

You guys have been featured. Short little article on RawrDenim about the tour.

You have to remember, though, Eternals are known to fade slow as hell...

Congrats on your first pair.
Photos?

I have the SugarCane soap, and it comes with both the detergent and an "Amino Treatment" that you're supposed to soak your jeans in afterwards. A box of the stuff comes with 10 packets for ¥2,940 at Hinoya Plus. I have no experience with the Samurai stuff yet.

You're getting there.

Plalai, must spread...but your pair of S5000VX are one of the examples that convinced me to get mine. Saw them a while ago.

Look at that...Right you are. Model 884 - Loose Straight Cut. That'll teach me to run my mouth before checking my Lightning guide...My apologies.

884 is just a boot-cut. Around the thighs it's no different.

I know ya'll likely don't care too much, but I just pulled the trigger on a pair of S5000VX 21oz'ers. I'm stoked to see how they are in person, because they didn't have any in stock when I was at the Ueno Americaya last summer.

Bah...Slipped in the mud while running across the median of a 6-lane highway on the way home and coated both my leg and shoes in the stuff...Guess the 883s are in for a sudden wash.
Anyone else got a "Ah shit, gotta wash 'em early" story? Figure I might as well give others the chance to bitch whilst I'm at it.

what's this eternal recipe i hear about
It's supposedly the set of instructions to follow if you want to get a sick pair of "Grail" 811's, like the pair on this site. --> http://denim-gallery.heavy.jp/eternal/811-6.html
Basically, hot wash them in a normal Japanese machine with normal Japanese detergent once a month for the first 5 months or so, then gradually cut back on the washing so its every couple months, then every 3-4 months, etc. Repeat until desired effect is achieved.
I say fuck it...Wear your jawnz, mate!

I've been washing my 883's every month, and they're turning out great, if I do say so myself.
Regardless, Eternals fade so slow that they won't fade too much at first even with a wash every month...It's how often you wear them, not how often you wash them that will get your fades.

Is it just me or is this tour semingly dead? Who's going to keep this thing going?

Myself and a number of fellow students at the University of Alberta (in Edmonton, Canada) have spent the last week filming people expressing their support for Japan. I'd like to post the video here.

Now there is.
