  1. Gun, this is what I was referring to:

Cut a swatch of denim. Snap a photo of it raw.

Put it in the washing machine until there is a notable change in shade.

Snap another photo. And maybe repeat another time.

These small photos would be pretty effective in helping your customers choose from the variety of products that you offer.

Though I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of your fabrics.:D

  2. Love the new fabrics and hope to witness a pair for myself in the near future. If you don't mind, I have a little suggestion to help further distinguish the beauty that is specific to each denim fabric. I know you have had bad experiences with giving out denim swatches in the past. :(

Instead of doing that, maybe you could cut out a swatch yourself and put it through the washing machine a few times to see how the denim fades and ages. I know you have a lot more in store for us and I hope to see more.;)

  3. Hey Gun,

I was browsing through your site recently and found out that you use 100% polyester thread. I don't remember who it was, but I recall someone from this thread stating that the thread was 100% cotton in one of the earlier posts. If you don't mind me asking, Why do you choose to use 100% polyester thread as opposed to cotton outer/poly core? Although it may sacrifice a bit of durability, I think it gives the denim a lot more character as it "fades" and ages with the denim.

Also, any updates on the new cuts? You've been keeping everyone on their toes.

There's some talk about you in the Sugar Cane Denim Thread. http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showthread.php?t=5154&page=442

Do you think you could get your hands on the SC40300 denim? The denim looks absolutely amazing(mikecch's pair is no exception).

  4. thank you Shiro, how are you man?

    yes :)

come on man, not that hard;)

I see my tailor and see the sample pair today,

Good news is that the measurement on regular cut is exactly like this, except I expand the thigh to 13.5"

and expand the thigh of straight cut to 13"

bad news is that he somehow make the bottom hem to 9"

and the bottom hem for straight cut is 8"

So I asked him to redo the sample again, he said it'll finish on 30th.

and he has prepare all the workspace, after sample pair is out, everything will be ready, straight and regular cut will be available around by 15-30th next months

so final measurement will be like this

Hey Gun, I just wanted some clarification as to the actual measurements for the straight cut. Above you said that you'd change the bottom hem to 8", then on the official measurements, you posted 8.5". Maybe a typo? :confused:Anyway, I think an 8" hem on the straight cut would defy the definition of a straight cut. That would be a very tapered pair of jeans. May I suggest keeping the hem as 8.25" -8.5" if you are planning on changing the cut at all? I think the 8.5" hem was pretty accurate. If I'm not mistaken, this particular denim shrinks a large amount as well, so an 8" hem will shrink to ~7.75" which is definitely not textbook for a straight cut.

Great move on the thigh measurement...:P

    Keep up the good work!:D

  5. I think the thighs could be a bit bigger so that they shrink to a proper size. Maybe change the 12.5-----> 13? Just my two cents.

We'll see how the sample turns out first.

  6. Last time I visited this thread I asked if I should soak these babies. And following advice I did. Though after the soak they still were too long, so I hemmed them a little. Yesterday was the first day I put them on and today I made a fitpic.

I was wondering what you all think of it.

Edit: Momo 0201 btw, size 29.

Great fit...I've had my eye these jeans for a while now but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I was looking into getting some 29s as well. Would you mind posting the measurements? (waist, f. rise, b. rise, thigh, knee, hem)

    Thanks

  7. thanks everyone for all your comment, love you all!

so I decided that swatch card will no longer be available, I think everybody no what this denim actually is and I don't want to sell the watch either.

Here's what I asked tailor to fix.

    screenshot20101023at457.jpg

and sample should be out in a few days, hope that it work out this time

The measurements for the straight cut look pretty spot on this time; the only thing is that maybe the thigh could be a little bit bigger?( The reason I say this is because the thigh measurement is close to that of your slim cut ) I can't really give you an opinion on the regular cut as i don't have an affinity for that cut. So you've found a new tailor?

  8. man I dunno. I think just finding something in between those two would make the most people happy. The regular cut looks like it has a crazy wide leg from the knee down. even if its a drainpipe type fit that looks extreme. and the straight cut looks exactly the same in the top block as the skinny cut. I'm not sure that will look flattering on anybody looking for a straight jean. I'm definitely not an expert, and you have my 100% backing on your product (its been proved to be top notch by this very demanding online community my man) but I'd really research exactly what you want your new fits to actually "FIT" like...because these pairs you posted just don't seem well thought out. i'm sure you're working your ass off on this, but it just needs some refinement.

P.S. be unique of course, but nobody would fault anybody for emulating the ROY fit. best straight (slim) fit i've seen on almost any body type.

    +1

Gun, I hope you don't mind my suggestions.

Maybe the measurements should be something like for the straight fit

    waist: 34

    front rise: 11

back rise: ~15 (depending on how low you want the rise to be)

    Thigh: 12.5-13

    Knee: ~8.75

    Hem: ~8.25

O yea, these are for post-wash

These are just my thoughts. I think many people around here prefer this fit (correct me if I'm wrong). Anyway, Gun, I can see that you don't slack when it comes to quality. In the end, I'm very confident that you will come up with a fit everyone will be happy with.

I heard about the tailor issue. I admire your determination to create quality jeans. Continue doing what you love. ;)

  9. The measurements for those new cuts are awful. The knee and thighs are off.

i have to agree... also something's up with the rise? don't you think?(come to think of it, those are even pre-wash measurements:confused:)

  10. for a tagged 29 (washed)

    waist 29

    Thigh 11

    front rise 10

    knee 8.2

    leg opening 7.6

    inseam 34

    ;);)

    i think that's good, with the exception of the thigh;

maybe something like(for a tagged 30 after wash):

    waist 30

    front rise ~10

    back rise ~14

    thigh 11.5(at least)

    knee 8.1

    hem 7.5

    what do you guys think?

  11. Hello artistdenin - Yes, depending on shrinkage, 1/4 to 1/2 inch extra? I'm surprised others haven't chimed in. I'd like to hear additional opinions but 11 inch post soak for size 34 waist seems reasonable to me.

Yes, that sounds about right. That would equate to around or about a little more than 10 rise for a 30w right? Also, i think you could be more generous in the top block, gun.:) Maybe somewhere ~11.75 thigh for a 30w. That's just my two cents.

+1 on the cougar fit; my brother has a pair and they're awesome, the only thing i would change is the back rise, because they are on the high rise side.

They have the perfect amount of taper as well.

  12. beautiful_FrEaK Hopefully the rise is not too low on your straight leg pair

    keep us updated!

    completely agree,

i received a denim sample yesterday, and witnessing the denim in real life was amazing.

decided to take a few snapshots, these pictures probably don't even do the denim justice.

  13. slim, would you mind posting the rest of the measurements to your xx-013

    (thigh, knee, hem)?

i'm in a position where i don't know whether to pull the trigger on some 30s or some 31s

    much appreciated
