update: the north face jacket is alot nicer than i thought... the outershell doesn't feel plasticky or nylon-y, and the fit is spot on. Didn't expect the hand pockets either, a good touch.

i'd do a nice hand wash with cool water and a little soap.... the chlorine can't be healthy for the denim or his skin.
