Thank you for your advice.
I would say it's about one size too big, but I'm worried that it'll stretch even more with wear. The first soak I did was 75 degrees celcius without agitation, so I will try doing another with agitation. I didn't realise that made a difference. I don't have a tumble dryer but I could try the washing machine next.

I just got a pair of N&F "the skinny" stretch selvedge jeans in size 25 from Tate and Yoko and they are too big for me. Would anybody like to buy/swap them? I don't think I can get them to shrink. I soaked them for 4 hours and there was no noticeable difference.

Hey, you men are spoiled for choice. I don't mind the selvedge coin pocket if it means I can finally get some properly tapered stretch jeans.

I came across this new kickstarter project a few days ago:
I'm all for more selvedge jeans for women, but I'd like to see more fit pics and information about the denim and construction.

Yes, I went tts. They were tight but not impossible to button. How long did your girlfriend wear them?
0 -
i'm interested how you like those; my gf is 2" shorter and, when it comes to denim, i'm not sure what to do with legs that short
I am really liking them at the moment, the N&F are much more stretchy than the 3Sixteen+ so they're a bit more comfortable, but I haven't really "broken in" the 3Sixteen+. I'm really happy that so many great stretch selvedge options have turned up for women in the last year.
As someone with short legs I would never wear boyfriend jeans, because I find them unflattering to my figure, so I would make sure that your girlfriend is into that style.

Just bought two pairs of stretch selvedge: the N&F straight and the 3sixteen+77BSP skinny fit posted above.
I'll post photos after I have gotten them hemmed (I'm only 5'1).

I take a size 26 in Railcar (Viper X001) and am a size 27 in Slings & Stones and 3Sixteen+, and size 1 in PBJs. Or if it helps, a size 2 in Gap jeans and a 4 in Topshop jeans (US sizes).
I'm a bit ambivalent about the Railcars to be honest... They're really well constructed but I don't find the fit particularly flattering. On me they're too loose in the waist but tight on the thighs, and have an unfortunate flattening effect in the rear. Also as I have to belt them quite tightly, they're not that comfortable and tend to rub on my hipbones. But the stretch versions may be better and your body shape may be completely different to mine!
Thank you, that is very helpful!
I'm sorry that I have so many questions. I'm just hesitant about taking a punt on sizing because of Railcar's 15% restocking fee. I thought relocating to the U.S. from Australia would make finding selvedge jeans easier, but it's still the same old online shopping problems.

So is there a need to size down for railcar to account for stretching? I could measure my most perfect-fitting pair of jeans, but when I first got them they were a lot smaller - I couldn't even button them up.

^ The problem is, I have no idea what my "true" size is.
I wear 25 in some APCs, and in others 24 is too big for me.
I haven't bought a regular pair of women's jeans for quite a while.

I really want to get a pair of the railcar viper 003, but I'm worried that I am too curvy for them. I'm not tall enough for the relaxed fit to be flattering, but I'm worried that if I go for a smaller size for a slim/skinny fit, I won't be able to button them.

I want to get some tapered, but not super skinny jeans with a bit of stretch (I usually wear apc ps, but I bought the stretch ps in 24 and they were way too big). Thinking of getting these from Baldwin, called "The Ten":
I don't know much about Baldwin, but I really want a lighter weight selvedge for summer. Anybody have these, or heard anything? Alternatively, could I do better for around the same price? I have to buy online because I'm in Melbourne and we have nothing!

i'd go down one or be ready for a looser fit, which still will look cool. if you keep those wear a belt to minimize waist stretching
He's going to keep them - he doesn't have any other loose-fitting jeans, and he likes them too much to exchange/sell them. Plus he took off his belt to take the photos, he normally wears one.

This is my boyfriend in the green weird guys that I got him for Christmas, size 30, after 3 days/wears:
He insisted on wearing red shoes for a Christmas theme
Should he get them hemmed? I almost wish I had bought one size smaller, because they fit his waist perfectly now and I'm worried about stretching.

Thanks appfaff! I just ordered them from Tobi.com for 25% off. I hope he likes them, it's a Christmas present.

Quick question: I'm about to buy the green selvedge weird guys for a friend. He's a 29 in black APC new standard, and 31 in nudies. What size should I get him for a slightly slim fit?
0 -
I probably should have done this earlier - cross-post with the APC thread:
These are my petit standards after one year and four months, can't remember how many times I washed them:Size 25 (I'm about 5'2"). I stupidly got them taken up before washing or soaking them, so they're ankle length, but I kind of like the way that looks.
dawei69, I assume your girlfriend is a lot skinnier than me, but would the fit of these APC Petit Standards be slim enough for her?

That green denim is rad. I need to get my boyfriend a pair of these immediately.

^^ I don't know what those are, but I agree, the fit is terrible.

What about APC Petit Standard? 100% cotton, red selvage, kind of lowrise...

^ Looking good!
Who here has sized down 3?...And lives to tell about it.
I'm a 29 in Nudie Super Slim Kim (which I think runs slightly small), and I went down to 25 in PS. I couldn't do up any of the buttons when I first got them (or bend my knees), but now they fit like a glove.

I just ordered a pair of skinny fit jeans in 12 oz. Cone Mills natural denim from Lawless. I'm really excited to have finally found white selvedge skinnies. I hope they are delivered in time for winter here in Australia.
I was considering buying these from 3sixteen+ but I thought the lighter 9.5 oz. denim in white might not be so flattering on me.
