  1. second last semester starts tomorrow.. hopefully things go smooth. I'm only in three classes, making it the lightest workload I have had since I first started uni. My last semester will only be two classes. hoping I can use the extra time to 1) work more to save some money/pay off debt and 2) do better in school/study more.

  2. ...

    don't cut your hair.

someone posted a picture a while ago of a dude with his ?nape? (is that the right word?) shaved but the rest in a bun/pony tail.

I wish I didn't cut my hair off in March (it was 2 years of growing) because I would have tried this.

  3. Has anyone handled the Coaches jacket from this season, the corduroy could be a nice touch compared to the usual nylon-esque material that most are made of?

Also, does the webshop ever put smalls up as they have small on the size charts?

  5. It is a bit of a hassle Megatron but I purchased some Vibram Cristy soles of eBay and then took them and the boots to the cobbler.

I found out that it would have been cheaper to just do it all through them but I never looked into it. But in your case it could be a viable option.

  6. To be quite honest (I may have said this at some point) but I haven't read any fiction probably since highschool. I read university related non-fiction for my own leisure just as much as I do for class. Again, to be honest, I feel at a loss to try and explain my feelings about the fiction that I have started reading.

I thought a particularly interesting part was when the size of the group went from that of a family to very quickly being over 200. Nothing was at all manageable and the result was the short lived dictatorship. For me, that spoke a great deal about the falsehood of society. What I mean is that I feel the way we have organized ourselves is very forced and unnatural.

Saramago really did capture the misery and gravity of what mass blindness could 'look' like. There is a lot of obvious information we obtain through the eyes but Blindness also explored the ways in which human interaction functions through the eyes.

The book was narrated in a very calm, matter-of-fact way, even when terrible things were taking place. This seems to help the reader focus on the meaning or symbolism of what is taking place rather than strictly the real events. If the book was written in another style - focusing on the suspense and misery in themselves - it could be very easy to lose the deeper meaning.

I quickly skimmed over the wiki page for Seeing and it 'appears' that there is a lot more focus on politics. Even though I try to avoid the violence and misery in my studies, it really isn't easy and I am drawn to dystopian literature.

  7. yo Waffle,

    hope you are doing ok.

I only have 5 uni classes left (which I have to take over two semesters). It really bums me out that 3 of them have to be shitty classes i.e. french/science. I really enjoy being in school/writing essays/debating/reading and I find the end of my studies to be really anticlimactic.

  8. I have a copy of Anti-Oedipus and tried getting into it at the start of summer but just couldn't give it the attention it needed. I think I will try again soon.

I just finished reading Jose Saramago's Blindness. Not sure if I will start Seeing or read something completely different. I think I might have a job soon (hopefully) and I will be in school so I won't have as much time.

  9. I posted this image in the animal print thread but I have the same bag in grey. It can hold a lot but can become extremely compact as well thanks to all the cinches. I would definitely purchase T Level again as the quality is really nice and it has a good amount of pockets, padding etc.
