  1. I am dreading this as well. I have only lost pets.

I think just being a good listener is essential. The most important thing I think is to know how to be rational and when to just let someone grieve unadulterated. I don't know if that makes any sense but I imagine it in the following way

"I am going to be sad forever and nothing will make me happy again"

rational: "clearly you'll be ok eventually it just takes time dont worry"

    comforting: "its ok, I understand"

this is one of those times when you usually don't post because it sounds stupid, but maybe you'll get my jive.

just gotta be on your game more than they are on their game so you can help them. it'll come naturally

  2. I finally receive word from my university that they have yet to receive my transcripts from the university I studied at in Sweden. What the fuck, it's 2011, how hard are processes like this? Both schools send and receive countless students every year so why is it so complicated.

  3. I fucking hope you don't get used to being alone.

For sure we need to be comfortable with a certain degree of aloneness but that atomistic individualism bullshit is whats ruining the world. We are social animals, our individual experiences make up a communal knowledge. We wouldn't be anywhere if we were alone and didn't rely on other people. I guaranfuckingtee you that it won't be a waste of time and it is probably just as likely that it might not be that easy. Definitely does not mean you shouldn't try. Don't let yourself be defined by what you didn't do, what you were to apprehensive to do, fucking go ballz deep in that friendship making porno. Man date, bromance, do that shit up proper. Embrace disappointment, I failed my driver's exam three fucking times, I blew the clutch on my first truck, I cracked the back bumper of my car on a snowbank because I was going too fast, I cracked my moms bumper driving too stupid in the winter, I backed into another motherfuck in a parking lot (partly his fault), I hit a curb in the winter and fucked up my car again. Long story short, clearly I have bad luck (or I suck) but I'll be fucked if I stop driving.

  4. .....

what are you planning on cutting on? your kitchen table?

obviously some of it is purely common sense, if you don't feel you need to purchase a cutting board then don't. If you want to use the awl and a straight edge to score your stitching line then you wouldn't need a stitch groover. Clearly all of the tools recommended serve legitimate functions. The more tools you work with the more specific tasks you can accomplish. You might not even need an awl, you could just use a nail and a hammer?

  6. some opening words of Deleuze and Guittari's Anti-Oedipus make me laugh.

"It is at work everywhere, functioning smoothly at times, at other times in fits and starts. It breathes, it heats, it shits. It shits and fucks."

"Judge Schreber has sunbeams in his ass. A solar anus."

I know this is all out of context, but solar anus made me laugh.

  7. ~4 year relationship over.

not going to lie and say its not for the best but I feel like shit. currently in the process of selling the furniture in my apartment because I have to leave a minimal amount of things with family here in vancouver before I go home for most of december. my apartment is empty, moved the bed into the living room to make the space seem more full. sold the couch, bed frame, dresser etc. I have gone through a breakup before and I obviously know 'everything will be ok' blah blah but ya, still sucks

helped the couple who purchased the couch move it to there apartment a few blocks away. it felt good to help someone.

pointless ranting but it feels good to vent.

    PS.

Sorry to hear that DOVO. Best friends should be able to have real talk so I don't think you were in the wrong. Things will sort out man, alcohol does silly things but usually sober heads can undo the damage. take care

  8. tried this twice already with no succes yet... figure third time will be a charm.

anyhow, have to ask, what leather exactly are your Vibergs (310 last) made from Kiya? Really diggin' that color...

And they aren't very helpfull with color options @ Viberg, basically told me to search the interwebs.

I thought it was the 'icy mocha chromexcel'

  9. yo, I know offering any kind of sympathy over the net might seem pointless but I know how shitty it can be to lose a dog. My dogs mean the fucking world to me and I would go bat shit crazy if something happened like that. My oldest lab Nikki is getting up there in age and I am always worried something will happen to her while I am living away from home.

It is really too bad that your ex pulled that shit. It is completely understandable to feel those emotions but try not to focus on the anger too much, easy to get consumed in that shit and it strays too far away from the heart of the issue which is your dog.

    stay strong.

  10. I think that a really successful relationship requires a certain amount of space/distance/time apart on a regular basis. but at the same time you need to have a functioning relationship i.e. one that is not co-dependent/full of jealousy/fighting etc. or else it will just fall apart.

  11. did long distance twice in the same relationship.

once for 8 months in the same country and the other time for 6 months from europe. shit fucking sucked. definitely hurt the relationship.

  12. Just applied to live in residence for my last semester of university. I feel kind of lame because I have lived in a nice apartment downtown since I moved to Vancouver. the girl I was with moved home today (not sure what the fuck is up between us) and I don't feel like finding a roommate/fucking around with furniture etc. for one last semester.

even though it sucks, I think it will be a less stressful situation. Moving into a room and moving out of a room with minimal possessions will be nicer than moving out of an entire apartment.
