  4. Here's my long story. :)

When we first met we bonded over french painter Odilon Redon's work, Japanese photographers such as Moriyama, Sugimoto, Araki and Kurosawa films. She was 15 and I was 17, I was about to graduate high school so it was one of the last parties before graduation, we kissed and talked, nothing else happened. I graduated and went to university. I thought about her now and then, she's 5'8,105lbs, freckles, long ass legs, perfect body and face.

Two years later when I was 19, we met randomly at a club, this time we had both been reading a lot of Nabokov and Raymond Carver, it was all good. We went home together that night and didn't spend a night apart for the next four years (that is how it felt).

We did everything together and she was my best friend, not as in 'because I fuck her and she is my girlfriend, so she is my best friend', but best friend as in general.. of all my friends: She was there when I decided to drop out of university to see the world, she was there when I enlisted in the military, she was there when I graduated from the military academy, she supported me when I thought about going to Afghanistan, she was there when I was invited to meet David Lynch, she sat ringside when I had my first muay thai fight. All the best memories was with her.

A little more than a year ago I had saved up enough money to buy an apartment here in central Copenhagen, she moved in with me and we were so damn excited. It was going to be OUR OWN apartment.

Things went well the first six months, but then she got offered the art director position at a major Danish magazine and I went back to university and had training camps much more often. We started having less and less time to enjoy each others company and when we did, we mostly talked about cleaning, paying bills and making time to see each other again. Suddenly we realised we were just trying to maintain our relationship, but neither one of us wanted to sacrifice anything to make it work, so we ended it.

It has been about four months and we haven't talked since, but yesterday she texted me saying she got a new place and wanted me to come over and see it, but I've declined.

I've fucked a couple of girls, kissed some more, but none of them really do it for me. I hate that we met each other when we were so young, careers and shit got in the way.

dude, don't fuck this one up. make it work. best of luck to you.

  5. oh, also, "skaters" on the internet fashion forums are not the same as skaters in real life... besides my friends who ive given jeans to i dont know any skaters who wear raw denim.

true. im talking about skaters on the internet. im not a skater but i do know some skaters in real life. and most of them aren't really into fashion either. they like to look good, but for them it's all about the shoes.

  6. cheap, in every community, there are leaders and there are followers. maybe you are a leader, ventured into sufu approved denim on your own. but there were a lot of kids from HB who came here (and stayed) cause they were chasing after a costume.

  7. ^edit:damn, you beat me by a minute, anyway...

    You're missing my point...

The people you listed wear what they wear to do what they do.. i.e. skate, work at a bank, shoot opposums or whatever rednecks do

Dudes into "vintage-duds" get dressed up in their shit to go do what? Im sure some of those dudes go out and work on a farm or lumber yard or something... but I'm just sayin, the 'costumes' you were talkin bout earlier isn't the same.

... and what does this have to do with anything?

and what about when skaters were all into raw denim. at the beginning, superfuture was only comprised of two groups, denim heads and streetwear guys. and that's mainly cause skaters were trying to learn from the denim heads cause they wanted to skate in raw jeans and get "sick fades". in other words, raw denim was part of the skater costume. skaters weren't wearing raw jeans "just to skate". they were wearing raw jeans cause it was hyped and cause it was part of the costume.

  8. My grandfather was a hard laborer that totally trashed his body and worked his ass off to feed put his children (including my father) through school. It was a shitty life. Money was very tight and he would never fathom dropping 3 bills on his "work wear" jeans. He's not around anymore, but I'm pretty sure if he saw people beasting over his clothes and not what he accomplished, it would weird him out. He hated what he was doing, but did it for the sake of his family. I don't think he'd appreciate people glamorizing it with expensive dress-up clothing.

I get that it's stuff these guys are interested in, and I'm not one to stop people from pursuing their interests. This is just my take on it.

sounds like your grandpa would be laugh at superfuture as a whole. everybody here drops 3 bills on shit. just on different shit though.

  9. from what i understand, people who are into denim and workwear aren't trying to look like railroad workers or anybody else. they are into clothing that is build to last, items like leather and denim that evolves and molds to the wearer with time.

  10. skaters wear 'skater costumes' cause they skate tho... rednecks wear their 'costumes' cause, well, theyre rednecks... bankers wear their 'costumes' cause they'd probably get fired if they didn't

yeah, but skaters dont have to wear the same brands to skate. it's not like supreme tees are better for skating, any t-shirt will do. so why do some brands get more love from skaters than others? cause skaters are brand crazy, just like the denim bros and goth ninjas and every other aesthetic that is represented here. and there is nothing wrong with that. some brands are just better than others, speak to and relate to a certain aesthetic better than others.

what bothers me about the denim hate is that the guys doing the hating are hypocrites. they are just as hype-driven and as circle-jerked as everyone else that they criticize. they circle-jerk each other for hating on denim guys and then they turn around and beast after robbie geller and BoO.

and on top of that they hate without really understanding the aesthetic that they're hating on. like people put denim guys on here cause of the fit, but they don't understand that for the denim guys, there is more to a pair of jeans than just the fit. im not a denim dude, but im sure they geek out on a lot of shit that someone who wears geller would not recognize right away. it's so pointless. unless you are part of the community, and are aware of the things that have value within that community, then your critique is just worthless.
