  1. Hey all: LuisaViaRoma seems to be reasonably priced compared to some other sites, but I was wondering how much I should expect to pay for Customs fees for a $500 purchase shipped to Toronto?

(Sorry if this questions is a hijack-- but it is about a purchase...)

    Thanks in advance!

  2. 10 labels I will spend money on:

    Prada

    Burberry Prorsum

    THE REAL Helmut Lang

    Marni

    Thom Browne

    Balenciaga

    Lanvin

    Gianfranco Ferre

    Brooks Brothers

    Neil Barret

10 labels I admire but I'm not spending my hard-earned money on:

    Comme des Garcons

    Anne Demeulemeester

    Haider Ackerman

    Tom Ford

    Raf Simons

    Givenchy

    Carol Christian Poell

    Junya Watanabe

    Yohji Yamamoto

    Undercoverism

Some labels I admire for the womenswear, but either don't care for the men's, or they don't design for men:

Alexander McQueen (Heiress to the label Sarah Burton's current Resort collection is stunning)

    Azzedine Alaia

    Dries Van Noten

    THE REAL Martin Margiela

    Olivier Theyskens

You will get sick of them after a week or two... They're the type of design that looks great in editorial-- but in reality, grows tired very quickly: Like Hedi's infamous Napoleon jacket-- supreme design, but how many times would you wear it really? It's more a showpiece.

Spend a bit more and get a more classically-designed pair of sunglasses. You'll wear it longer and will look less like a fashion victim.

  4. just out of curiosity did anyone get those painted margiela jeans that came out last year. the concept of painted jeans kinda sparks my interest so i want so see what some time would do to them.

If they're anything like the legendary "Painter" jeans by Helmut Lang from '98 (which were a silicone, and not true paint), then the paint will come off eventually-- not just by washing, but with wear.

Like the Helmut Lang label, MMM has lost its spark now that the man himself has left the house.

  5. It's not bad... The Helmut Lang that set the standard in men;s high fashion is long gone, this other Helmut Lang is just a pale shadow of the former's glory.

They just went through the Helmut Lang archive and simply rehashed everything, down to the bags. Just shows you how ahead of everyone Lang was that his designs are still so relevant after all this time. Can't say the same for Rick Owens or the likes of him...
