My friend is in town from back home this week and, obviously has some once in a lifetime sights he wants to check off his list. I also swore I'd go see the Imperial Palace and Forbidden City on the first snow of the year. Today when I woke up, well It was snowing...so we went to check it out under a thin layer of white...

This guy has the right idea...but is not particularly vigilant

it was very empty today, and an ideal time to visit given the way it looks under snow

the small crowd did not slow down those handing out flyers and selling photographs and goods...

we left the ancient city to get a better view...

and made some snowmen to look out over Beijing

there was still plenty of color in the park

we took a short cut to get some duck for dinner

they were busy cleaning out leaves from the lake as the snow continued to slowly fall...

we sat and watched the lake for a bit, then headed in for dinner while night set in.

goodnight / morning / afternoon to all out there.

spent a lot of time hanging out at The Opposite House

found a few interesting buildings...

explored some of them...

watched some people...

Spent some time being a tourist lately...living in Beijing and still hadn't seen the Great Wall...so we took the train..

Took refuge under a huge umbrella that was up at the head of the beach, myself, my friend, and a few dozen locals...

myself, covered in sand, drinking a bunch of TsingTao, and kicking it with my friend...

Stayed through a ton of beers, a ton of laughs, a dispersing local crowd, and nightfall...another couple remained behind.

The next morning I got up at 5 to head home...

Taxi to SZX

Eating a bit of breakfast at...KFC, only place to grab a bite at the airport that early...

Hopped off the plane back in BJ, ready to head back to work!
