  1. My '47s have been an amazing pair of jeans, so far. I've only worn them for about three months, raw for one month before the first soak. I went true to size (I wear 30 in APC, 31 in Nudie, 32 true size in LVC) and did a bathtub soak. Quite frankly, they didn't shrink much at all, some in the length and only a little in the waist. Put them on damp and wear them till they dry and it's a pretty friggin' perfect pair of jeans. You can't go wrong.

haha- yeah, i actually made my decision based almost entirely on your advice, assuming that you are the same BAerts from mynudies :D

  2. davety, how are your '47s doing? If I remember correctly from strolling the nudie forum you went a true-to-waist? I'm interested in how the legs turn out after a soak, if you did indeed do so.

what am I talking about? your '47s are you contest jeans aren't they...?

haha- yeah, everything you've said is true, so unfortunately i can't give away any post-soak details due to the fact that they're still in hibernation for a few weeks yet. the first fit is kinda promising tho, even though it's pre-soak- i was gratified by the fact that they can be done up fairly easily, because i was actually a little worried they may have been wildly undersized. they will be a tight squeeze when soaked tho, and will probably require some fairly heavy work to stretch them to a wearable waistline, but i'm optimistic about being able to do it. as for the legs, i really can't give much of an idea there yet, sorry, but there looks like there'll be plenty of room for shrinkage.

true-to-waist is always a tricky one to nail- my true waist is actually 31, my 47 is a size 30, but i wear most of my nudies in 29 (altho some 28 and 30), edwin and apc in 28, so i really just took a rough shot in the dark with these, as i generally do. it usually comes off alright

and @ joe- haha- haven't you tortured us all enough already? tell us what it is! :D

  3. i'm finding the wait kinda tough, but it's a tricky balance to strike between coping with the frustration and losing interest in the meantime... i'd hate to think we would forget about the jean sitting in the cupboard gathering dust...

anyway, tough shit- we all just have to wait that little bit longer. tbh, i was starting to waver in my enthusiasm, but dropping by here and seeing all the new contestants is getting me pumped up again, so i've decided to break in an old unworn jean (apc ps) while i'm waiting for the comp to start, just to give me that 'new jean' thrill again...

kinda like denim methadone, really ;-)

  4. while i'm pretty happy with the 47, there really wasn't much more by way of alternatives, most of the other cuts weren't/aren't available in the smaller sizes that i'd have needed. i suppose i could've waited for a restock, but i'm not a big fan of waiting, the next couple weeks aren't gonna be whole lotta fun for me :(

  5. you're pretty keen, coming into the australian summer- altho i suppose you are in melbourne... ;-)

maybe next april it might be an option. i still have a lee gold 101j that's got far too much left life in it to really justify getting another one.

  6. i'll delegate any decision about posting formats to the rest of you guys, i have no real opinion on the matter. just as long as it's sorted before dec1 (preferably with some instructions), i'll happily play along with whatever you all choose.

  7. yeah, i agree with joe, i guess- dec 1 seems to have been a compromise in itself. i guess we're all just gonna have to use a little willpower until then.

and like lc_miey says, let's finalise the dates- as long as it's all locked in, i'm down with the consensus. the wait won't kill us- it'll just be a sweeter itch to scratch on dec 1 ;)

  8. i'm pretty sure we've almost hit 20- i know for sure house will be down this weekend- which puts us at 19 on current count- and surely there are a few as-yet-undecideds out there...

i'd be more than happy to start in november- maybe have a staggered start for latecomers?if it's gonna be two years, they'll have plenty of time to catch up...

patience is a virtue, tho ;)

  9. 24 months is a very long time- why not just 18? we've all got denim to rotate, but two years is a hell of a commitment.

that said, i'm fine with whatever the general consensus turns out to be.

as for the december start- i understand the impatience- mine haven't arrived yet, but it's gonna be hard for me to sit and stare at them for a month and a half...

  10. hey guys, dr house has twisted my arm so i've crossed over from mynudies to have a crack at this comp. haven't made the order yet, but will probably do so tomorrow with a 47. will keep you all up to date, still getting my head around the sufu interface...
