  1. I'm looking for something heavier and more durable than my PS Corso's for the worst of Chicago winter. Katahdin's seem like a solid choice, but I'm wondering whether there's anything else worth considering in that price range. Suggestions?

    Thanks.

  2. i'm not talking about the same jean. so for example I have a pair of skulls with waist 32 and rise 9 inch. This fits me perfectly. But i want to get another jeans, say the flathead. on a waist 32 but the rise is 10 inch. The skulls wont fit the same as the FH because the FH has a longer rise. When its 9 inch it sits on your hip. when it 10 inch, it's probably near the belly button.

so my question is, should i size down/up on the flathead?

You would size down, because your waist is smaller than your hips. Whether you size down 1 or 2 would depend on your own body structure.

  3. Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the colors that the Grensons, but the Trickers do look very nice, so I'll be checking the ReTricker page on ebay for them.

With that said, I rather like the appearance of the Loakes I originally posted. Over the years, will they look worse, or just stay the same (without the cool natural aging process that would take place with full grain leather boots)? If the latter, I'm perfectly fine with them...

  4. Hmm, thanks for the suggestion! The Trickers seem a bit more formal (still beautiful), but I suppose that'd go away with wear. Being a high school student who buys his own shit, I'd have a pretty tough time affording $350 boots. Maybe I'll lurk around ebay & supermarket...If I don't find anything in those places, might there be something nicer than the Loakes that's still cheaper than Tricker's?

    Thanks again

  5. First of all, it's been a pleasure looking at a lot of the pictures in this thread.

Anyway, I was looking at these Loake boots (they're currently about 210 USD, factoring in conversions from GBP). I really like the profile & broguing, but the leather doesn't look especially nice, and I suppose I could do without the fake distressing. I've heard that these will age badly, since they're corrected grain, rather than full grain. Does this mean that they'll get worse over time, or just stay the same?

    Here they are:

I'd love suggestions for something similarly priced that would age better.

Andy Salzer of Yoko Deveraux is doing a mini-collection for Urban Outfitters. I kind of hate UO (as I'm sure a lot of you guys do as well), but Andy's a cool guy and this seems to be a lot better than your average ill-fitting, third world-produced UO designer collab. The collection includes the jacket and shorts in the picture above, as well as a tank top and woven shirt. I'll post pictures of the latter 2 items when they're available.

The whole line is produced in Canada, and, according to Andy, will have the same cut as Yoko Devereaux mainline. Pricing seems slightly lower than mainline (the jacket is $130, IIRC). The line launches 4/30 and will be available in some of the UO stores in urban areas. If anyone wants, I can post the full list of stores.

The jacket looks interesting, as do the shorts. Sure, it's basic, but it seems more tasteful and generally nicer than your average UO peasant steeze.

    Thoughts?

  7. I'm sure they've been mentioned, but Michael J. Krell makes some nice slim and skinny chinos. He's currently out of stock, but should have new ones in soon.

andrewfuncrew, what's the shirt? I really like it (and your whole fit, for that matter).
