  2. So I recently started going to the gym at 5:00 AM a few days a week. I've found it really difficult to get my energy levels up at this early hour, which I guess can be expected. A longer warm-up routine seems to help, but I think I need to alter my eating habits a little.

    Can anyone suggest a quick and short meal I can eat directly before a workout that will help fill my stomach and give me a little more energy?

    I'm thinking of something that won't make me want to vomit after 5 minutes on the treadmill. Maybe a couple spoonfuls of peanut butter or a granola bar?

  3. Just got a new pair of the Kurabo Smiths. Definitely similar to my pair of New Standards, but just slightly less slim, which is perfect for me. I especially like the top block. The rise on the NS is a bit too low to wear with a shirt tucked in and my 501's rise is too high, but these are perfect. I'm looking forward to breaking them in, setting the creases, and improving the drape.

    Now the only question is whether to cuff, or not to cuff.

  4. As some have mentioned over in SF, there's a bit of extra fabric at waist but some of that is from the pockets. I don't mind (kinda like) the big pockets on my 1950s, but that's not as tapered a cut. I bet a hot soak would help a lot, and probably wouldn't hurt resale value if you still want to move them.

    Not a bad fit IMO at all, but maybe not what you were after? I dig the big cuff, too.

    Thanks. Yeah, a soak probably would have improved the fit, but I couldn't get over the back pockets. It's good if you're into the anti-fit or something that looks a little slouchy-slim, but that's not really my style. Too bad, because the construction and quality were amazing.

    Oh well, they're sold and shall be moving on to a new owner.

  5. So I picked this up from the Blue Owl sample sale, but it looks like I'll have to pass them along. It's a shame too, because the denim quality and workmanship on these are fantastic. I literally tried these on in my home once.

    I'm asking $old. Incredibly cheap, as these go for $275 new.

    Measurements: 35" waist, 11" rise, 8.8" knee, 12" thigh, 8" leg opening. These have yet to be soaked, but may have some minimal shrinkage.

    Here are some descriptions from Blue Owl.

    Kicking Mule Workshop (KMW) is a US company based in Colorado, but designs and makes 100% of their products in Japan. KMW philosophy of and commitment to quality with the use of Japanese artisanship brings them to Blue Owl.

    * The "Rocker" is the KMW unisex skinny cut with a mid-rise and a skinny leg that tapers to the leg opening, made in Okayama, Japan, with the use of 100% organic Zimbabwean cotton and rope dyed in natural indigo.

    * 14 oz denim fabric woven on old shuttle looms

    * Real deerskin leather patch

    * Chainstiched hems and waistband

    * Hidden back pocket rivets

    * Red & blue selvedge lines

    * Doughnut buttons

    * Selvedge detail on the front coin pocket and on the inside of the fly

    * Reinforced back pockets with pima lining

    * Made in Japan

  6. Thanks for the advice. I actually spoke to Jay from Blue Owl, and he mentioned that TTS could work depending on how I plan to wear them. If you're really going to wear them hard, sizing down is the smart way to go. If you're a desk/couch jockey -- like myself -- TTS can be Ok.

    We'll see. If it doesn't work out, you may see a real cheap pair of 34X34 rockers on Supermarket.

  7. problem is that your "beater jeans" will probably turn out to be your favorites, because you are doing everything that needs to be done to make them fade to perfection.

    Actually, this is turning out to be true. Even though the fit of the 501s aren't perfect, I'm beginning to view them in a much more positive light as they fade.

  8. I'm not sure if it's been talked about here, but after reading around I'm pretty sure Merle is going to pop up as the Governor in the next season.

    That was my thought. To be honest, I think they should wait until the Season 2 Finale. The writers should have plenty to work with next season and build up to that revelation.

  9. I want to see what they do with Merle in the next season. Some say that his absence in the last episodes are a plot-hole, but I agree with the theory that he trucked the zombies into the campsite.

    For those who have read the comics, I can imagine the perfect role for Merle in future episodes...

    Also, for the other comic nerds: Was anyone disappointed that they partially revealed the origin of the zombie plague? I was kind of hoping they would keep that a secret until the very end of the comic, similar to Y: The Last Man.
