i have a canon ae-1 program slr up for grabs in good condition

it comes with a canon 50mm 1:18 lens and also a vivitar 75-205 mm 1:38 lens, the vivitar has a ding on the outside casing but not the lens part itself

also included: a smelly bag, vivitar flash, 52mm filter, strap, battery included in camera, and a soligor winder

I'm going to get a road bike

I'm thinking about getting a fixed gear

but i'm worried i'll look like a hipster who just picked his bike because he thought it was cool

here's the thing, that would be basically true.

whether or not i'm a hipster is a pretty subjective problem but i really don't know much about bikes, if i got a fixie it would be because it looks cool (clean lines & mechanical simplicity)

so realistically, what are the pros and cons of riding a fixed gear bike?

are there any actual practical benefits?

pros: probably weighs less, less maintenance, good training for a road bike, looks cool

cons: well, no gears, less practicality in almost every situation except the velodrome, high chance to look very tarck/hipster

if youre going to get a fixed, at least dont get velocity deep vs/ aerospoke which will likely propel you into generic hipsterdom

just finished on the road for the first time, was so good

i recently bought a canon ae-1 off of ebay but then i suddenly remembered that my dad has a canon eos 10s that i can use. my mom isn't going to let me sell the eos for sentimental reasons so my question is: which is the superior camera and if the eos is better should i sell the ae-1 on craigslist or keep both?
